The next day, Jossy found herself standing outside Century City, towering glass structures bright in the sunlight, each building a reflection of power and money. Lennox Corporation stood tall among them, sleek and intimidating, its name written at the entrance.
It was her first time here.
Jossy dialed Clara's number. "I'm here, downstairs," she said quietly, trying not to sound nervous.
"Perfect. Stay where you are. I'll send someone to get you clearance."
Minutes later, a young assistant in a navy blazer appeared, checking her invitation before ushering Jossy inside. The lobby was even grander than she expected. This is what power looks like up close, she thought.
She clutched her luxurious bag tighter, careful not to attract attention. She couldn't afford to end up in tomorrow's tabloids: Scandalized CEO 's wife spotted at Lennox Corporation. No, that couldn't happen. Damien still thought she was "looking" for a job, and she intended to keep it that way.
The elevator ride to the top floor felt endless. When the doors opened, Clara was waiting for her with a warm smile that put Jossy a little more at ease.
"Come on," Clara said, touching her arm gently. "We'll meet in my Boss' office. His name is George. Nice guy, you will love him."
The office was exactly what she expected from a man of his status. It was spacious, polished, with a clear view of the city. The air smelled fresh, with a hint of male cologne.
George himself stood by the desk, tall and composed. Jossy straightened her shoulders. She wasn't here as Damien's wife. She was here as her.
"Jossy," George greeted warmly, stepping forward to shake her hand. "It's good to finally meet you in person. I have heard so much about you."
"Thank you for having me," she replied softly, careful with her tone. Her voice always carried more weight now, every word could be scrutinized.
They all settled into the office, Clara taking a seat beside George. Jossy sat carefully on the edge of her chair.
She cleared her throat. "I guess you guys already know about my marriage… I hope this isn't about the scandal. I understand if it complicates things for the company."
George leaned back in his chair, studying her. "We're aware of the situation, yes. But that's not why we asked you here."
Jossy blinked. "It's not?"
Just then, the door opened.
Her head turned, and then froze.
"Noah?" her voice was louder than she intended, shock tightening her chest. "What are you doing here?" She whispered.
