George shifted in his chair and cleared his throat as he continued. "Clara here has been handling things well, but we know the market is getting crowded with new products. Aurora Serum has been doing well, and we want to give it more focused attention."
He turned toward Jossy with a small smile. "You've only been with us for four months and part-time at that, but your work speaks for itself. We would like to offer you a full time role. You'll lead digital marketing for Aurora Serum and a few other launches. What do you say? It can be hybrid. You'll only need to come in for key meetings. The rest you can manage from home."
The words hung in the air. Jossy felt her pulse quicken. A full time job at Lennox? This could open doors she had only dreamed about, but it also carried risks. Her voice came out hesitant.
"I'm not sure I have that kind of time."
Noah, who had been quiet, leaned back in his chair. His gaze swept the table before he finally said, "Clara, George, please give us five minutes?"
George blinked but obeyed. Clara gave Jossy an encouraging smile before stepping out with him. The moment the door clicked shut, the air felt heavier.
Noah turned toward her, lowering his voice. "Jossy, I know why you don't want this position. But it will be good for your career."
Her eyes narrowed slightly. "And what reason is that, Noah? Enlighten me."
His expression softened. "You don't need to wear masks with me. I know Damien. He was my friend for four years. And I know he doesn't know you're working here. If that's what's holding you back, we can make arrangements. But don't turn this down just out of fear. Don't you want to build something for yourself?"
Her throat went dry. "Why are you helping me, Noah?"
He chuckled quietly, though there was no humor in it. "Come on, Jossy. You know why. Damien never told you?"
