The next day at the office Alexander Daniel was busy and getting prepared for meetings.His face was full of smiles and excitments.He felt loved because of Susan.His love for Susan continued to grow gradually.Susan already sent him a whatsapp text which says "Good morning sir,you have not sent me the remaining money that you promised".But Daniel have not still replied.Anytime he comes to work in the morning he feels more like a boss as all his employees.His pride mentality sometimes make him feel that he is not supposed to have any business with his secretary.Deep down in his heart he battles with pride.
All of a sudden Veronica called as his phone rang,Daniel ignored this first call.When it rang the second time he picked and said
"How are you,baby I missed you"
"You miss me and you decided to ignore my calls and even refuse calling me?. please enough of this nonsense pretence"Daniel spoke angrily with a loud voice.
"I am so sorry,I promise not to do it again,I was only demanding for money all those times because I felt you didn't really love me,I felt insecured when you were always staying at your office till 10pm at night everyday.I thaught you were having an affair with another woman in the office,so I was always trying to demand for money so I could feel loved."her voice became so soft and full of affection.
Veronica had lied to Daniel so that she can decieve him to believe that she is innocent.
Daniel paused for 3 seconds to rethink his thoughts and said to her "Already,but please you have to stop that,I will send you money when I want to do that.I will even send you more if you love me beyond material things"
"Alright,so can I come to your house this weekend "her face was full of smiles"
"No you can't,when I am less busy I will let you know"Daniel replied.
Immediately Veronica panicked.She said to herself "is it true that he is having an affair with another woman?,does it mean that what Jennifer told me was true?"
She finally spoke to Daniel"Okay,I will try and come to the office to visit you during break "Veronica was trying to investigate if it's true.
"Don't come to the office,you hardly come to my office and you will now start it now,when I am ready I will invite you to my house"
She paused for 4 seconds"Okay"she replied with a voice what shows disappointment.
"Daniel, there is something I want to tell you"Veronica was happy to trap him the news.
"What is it?"he replied with curiosity
"I am eight months pregnant for you"
Veronica lied that he was pregnant for him to decieve him and also trap him.she knew that it will confused him because they had sex about five weeks ago.
The truth was that she knew that she was only pregnant for Philip who is the man that she have been having an affair with.Veronica began to regret her actions when she realized that Alexander Daniel is having an affair with another woman in the office but it was too late because she was already pregnant for Philip.
"Y...yo..you are pregnant?"he replied anger and surprise.
His heart began to panick,his heart beat increased.It was unexpected.The woman who he is gradually becoming emotionally distant from is pregnant for him while he is more attracted to his secretary.He became confused.He thaught of telling Veronica to get rid of the pregnancy but his mind told him not to.
"Yes,is anything the problem,I thaught you are supposed to be happy with the news"Veronica sounded disappointed.
"Okay we will talk later,I am at work"he spoke in a worried manner.
The next person that entered his office was susan.As she entered the office she locked the door with a key that Daniel gave her.she said to Daniel
"You ignored my WhatsApp message.please mr Daniel I need my remaining money to be paid "
Immediately Daniel felt embarrassed,he said to himself "why will an ordinary secretary talk to her boss like that".
He looked at her like a piece of rag and said "I will transfer the money when I am less busy,for now I am busy.please can you get out of my office.
"You are busy with what?,what kind of a thing is this,you promised ?"she almost wept."look Mr Daniel,my Dad is late and my mom have been in hospital,I am already experiencing hurts and pains because I miss my mom every day,so stop Adding to my pain because I don't like what you are doing"
Daniel could understand her story and he could see the tears in her eyes.The tears made her look beautiful and attractive to the eyes of Daniel.Initially he planned to have a secret and short term affair with Susan but since he had sex with her he feels different,he feels a greater attraction towards her.He couldn't talk to her badly like a normal CEO.
His heart melted so deeply "I am so sorry,.I promise to pay the remaining money now and pay for the medical bills of your mother and take good care of you".
As Daniel was speaking he walked towards Susan and hugged her for 10 seconds trying to console her.
Diana who is a spy from Christiana and Veronica quietly walked towards the door and stood behind the door.She was trying to hear every of their conversation.
She already told Christiana and Veronica that the CEO is in love with his secretary.
By the next day Alexander Daniel's heart continued to melt gradually as he noticed how Susan greeted the janitor each morning by name, pausing to ask about his daughter's flu. How she helped the new intern fix a broken copier, even though it wasn't in her job description. How she always said "thank you" to the elevator operators,even when they didn't answer.
Susan noticed the way Daniel stylishly looks at her anytime she does any thing good.Each time Susan catches Daniel staring at her he quickly removes his eyes and pretend he was not staring.Susan knew that Daniel is already falling in love with her.
Daniel's love for Susan was growing strong.He saw the good character and morals in Susan while Veronica was not well behaved.but his pride keep fighting him.
One day Susan was talking to one of the female janitor on the corridor and Daniel was just passing.He over heard her telling her donate blood for her child who needs blood because her blood group match with that of her child.This made Daniel so surprised at her kindness and love.
That day when Susan came to Daniel's office to drop some important documents for the business of the day she knocked at the door.
"Come in"Daniel spoke.
As she came in she greeted
"Good evening,how was your day,i came to drop these documents"Susan was looking so sad because her mother is dieing despite treatments.
"Alright,I am fine.how is your mother,hope she is recovering?"Daniel replied as he looked at Susan's dress,her face and body in a way shows love in his eyes.
"She is not getting better,the heart surgery have been done but the symptoms still continues
"Is Veronica still in love with you?"her face was still covered with sadness.
Immediately Daniel's face changed,his face squeezed in annoyance.He did not expect Susan to ask that about Veronica because he feels Susan don't love him at all while he his developing feelings for her.He felt rejected.
"She called to apologize for her attitude last week"Daniel's heart was splitted into two worlds.To love Susan who he is already having feelings for or to love Veronica who he no more loves again.
His face was still squeezed.
"Is anything the problem,you look angry?"Susan asked as she noticed annoyance in his face.
Susan already knew that he no longer loves Veronica but he loves her but she kept everything within herself.
"No,it's nothing serious"Daniel replied in a deceiptive way.
Susan did as if she was looking for a document in a drawer in the office,she went towards the drawer and bent down to open the drawer,as she was doing that she used her eyes to stylishly look at Daniel without turning her head.She caught Daniel looking at her in a way that shows that he is already lost.After everything,she stood up and left the office.
