Chapter 15 - Found Out

"I could go crazy if I stay here any longer," David thought to himself.

Liana, who was in the bathroom, could only freeze and hope that what had just happened was merely a dream.

"Liana, you're crazy, how could this happen," Liana muttered, annoyed with herself.

A little while later

"Dear, are you done getting ready? I've made a delicious breakfast for you. Come on, eat it quickly, or you'll be late," Liana's mother said.

"Thanks, Mom," Liana answered briefly, having completely lost her mood this morning.

"You're welcome, sweetie. I missed you, that's why I thought I'd stop by while I was in the area," Liana's mother replied.

"I miss you too, Mom," Liana interjected.

After seeing Liana finish her breakfast and about to leave for the office, her mother decided to go home as well.

"Be careful on the road, Mom," Liana said, walking her mother to the apartment door.

"Yes, dear, I'll go now. Don't forget to bring your lunch," Liana's mother instructed.

"Will do," Liana replied, making sure her mother had left.

"You can come out now, Sir," Liana said outside her bedroom door.

David came out and decided to go home.

"Would you like me to take you to work as well?" David offered to Liana.

"No. I can go by myself," Liana answered without looking at David.

"Alright then, I'll go first," David knew that Liana must be feeling awkward because of him.

David decided to head home first.

Upon arriving home, David immediately went to the toilet to wash his face at the sink, trying to forget what happened this morning.

"What's wrong with me, why can't I forget it?" David wondered to himself.

After a while, the sound of small footsteps approaching him was heard.

"Dad, you just got home?" Rey asked, having just met David this morning.

"Rey, are you ready to go to school?" David asked.

"Yes, Dad, Rey wants to go to school now," Rey replied with his cute face.

"Then go, or you'll be late for school. Dad can't take you yet because I'm not ready. Ask Uncle Will to take you first, okay?" David explained.

"Okay, Dad, but Rey has one request," Rey said.

"What do you want now?" David asked, surprised because every time Rey behaved well towards him, it was usually because he wanted something.

"Rey misses Mrs. Liana. Can Rey go meet her this afternoon after Mrs. Liana gets off work?" Rey pleaded with David.

"Why do you always want to see her, Rey?" David wondered.

"Dad... I beg you..." Rey expressed, truly pleading with David with his cute face.

"Fine... Fine. Go to school," David blurted out, unable to refuse Rey's request.

"Yayyy... Thank you, Dad," Rey said, shaking David's hand and immediately leaving.

"That naughty boy," David muttered, just as his phone rang.

"Hello," David answered.

"David, where are you? Did you forget about this morning's meeting? We have a briefing," Chelsea explained on the phone.

"Oh yes, I forgot. I'll be there soon. Just prepare everything, understood?" David said.

"Alright, hurry up and come," Chelsea hung up the phone.

Meanwhile at the office

"Liana, have you prepared it?" asked Bram, who was busy with many documents.

Liana just sat silent and daydreaming, lost in thought about something.

"Liana... Hey, Liana," Bram said firmly, nudging Liana's arm.

"Yes, what is it?" Liana asked, startled.

"Why are you spacing out, Liana? I've been calling your name repeatedly," Bram said.

"Have you? I didn't hear it. Sorry, Bram," Liana replied.

"It's okay. Now, help me prepare the documents that Ms. Chelsea requested. The meeting will start soon," Bram reminded Liana.

Upon arriving in the meeting room, David was immediately greeted respectfully by the division heads and several clients.

"Welcome, Sir," said everyone in the room.

"Thank you, please be seated," David said.

"Mr. David, what about our cooperation offer? Have you agreed to it?" asked Oskar, one of David's clients.

"I've looked through the contents of your company's proposal. It seems there's nothing interesting to discuss further," David explained.

"Mr. David, please don't make a decision yet, because I have brought a new cooperation offer for you," Oskar insisted.

"What other offer now?" David asked.

David was the type of person who didn't like beating around the bush. Although he knew Oskar's company was international, he didn't care about any of that. All he needed was for his company to gain the greatest possible profit.

"Miss Chelsea, where are the proposal documents I asked you to print earlier?" Oskar asked.

"I already asked my subordinate to do it earlier. Just a moment, let me contact him first," Chelsea said.

Just as she was about to open her phone, Liana arrived at the room, gently knocking on the door.

"Excuse me, Ma'am, may I come in? These are the documents you wanted," Liana explained from the doorway.

"Bring them here," Chelsea requested.

Liana walked into the room and accidentally saw someone familiar.

"Mr. Doctor, is that you?" she said, surprised to see David at her office.

"Liana, how rude of you to point at David like that. Don't you know who he is?" Chelsea snapped.

"He's a doctor, Ma'am," Liana answered briefly.

"Yes, he is a doctor, but he is also your superior in this office. So watch your attitude. Get out of here," Chelsea barked.

"Superior...?" Liana thought, confused.

Liana slowly walked towards the exit, her eyes still fixed on David.

"She must be confused about why I'm here," David thought.

As she went back to her desk, Liana met Bram there.

"Bram, can I ask you something?" Liana asked.

"Of course, Liana, what do you want to ask?" Bram replied, looking at Liana's face.

"What is our boss's name? Do you know it?" Liana asked, very curious.

"Of course, I know. You mean Mr. David, right?" Bram said easily.

"David? So he really is the CEO of this company?" Liana added.

"Yes, Liana. Mr. David is the son of the owner of this company. No wonder he's the one continuing it, he's the director's only child, after all. Why? Is something bothering you?" Bram explained.

"No, I was just curious," Liana replied.

"Really? Well, then smile. Your face has been gloomy all this time," Bram added.

"Yeah... Yeah, sorry," Liana said, forcing a slightly embarrassed smile.

Meanwhile, in David's office

"David, let's have lunch together," Chelsea invited.

"You go ahead, I'm not hungry," David said.

"Why do you always reject me? What do I lack in your eyes, David?" Chelsea complained, always facing rejection from David.

"I don't want to argue right now, so please leave my office," David stated firmly.

Chelsea was annoyed with David, so she finally decided to leave. She knew the man was very difficult to direct.

After Chelsea left, David tried to peek at Liana from his office window. He was curious about what the girl was doing now.

"Where did she go? Why is her desk empty?" David thought, looking at Liana's desk.

A cleaning staff member passed by.

"Excuse me, where are all the employees now? Why are they all gone...?" David asked the office janitor.

"Sorry, Sir, it's already lunchtime. They must all be eating lunch in the canteen now," the cleaning staff explained.

"Oh right... Liana must be in the canteen," David thought.

David immediately rushed to the canteen, finding Liana was the most important thing.

It was quite crowded there. David accidentally saw Liana eating alone with a man.

"Who is she eating with over there?" David thought, curious and also burning with jealousy.

David immediately took food from the canteen and brought it to the table where Liana was sitting.

"May I sit here?" David asked, carrying his food tray.

"Mr. David, of course, you can. Please sit down," Bram replied, happily allowing him.

Liana, feeling uncomfortable, decided to finish her meal quickly.

"Bram, I'll go back first," Liana interrupted.

"Are you done?" Bram asked.

"Yes, I'm leaving now," Liana immediately got up from her chair and left without looking at David.

David, seeing this, became a little annoyed. This was because Liana had been trying to avoid him all this time.

"What's wrong with her?" David thought.

After work

Liana had only walked a few steps out of the office when she heard someone calling her.

"Mom..." Rey exclaimed, running toward Liana.

"Rey, what are you doing here?" Liana asked.

"I wanted to meet Mrs. Liana," Rey replied, constantly hugging Liana's legs.

"Does your father know, Rey?" Liana added.

"Yes, Mom, Dad knows. He gave permission himself," Rey said.

"Alright then, do you want to come to the apartment now?" Liana asked.

"Yes... Rey wants to come," Rey exclaimed, feeling very happy.

"Uncle Will, come here," Rey called.

Will approached with his car.

"Come on, Mom," Rey invited, pulling Liana's hand.

"Rey, your father isn't inside, right?" Liana asked, curious.

"No, why, Mom?" Rey said, confused.

"Nothing, let's go in," Liana explained.

Liana and Rey got into the car. Unbeknownst to them, David was watching them both from his office window.
