Edith desperately hoped Cliff would answer her question honestly. If Cliff admitted he was Eliana's biological father, she would have to marry him. However, the question now was: why did Cliff only confess now? Why not five years ago? That's what makes it hard for her to trust Cliff too.
"Cliff, were you honest just now?"
Cliff nodded. "Yes, I'm being honest. I even still have your ring."
"But why didn't you confess when I first woke up? Why did I have to wait five years? Was it really fun toying with me all this time?"
"I didn't mean to play with you, Edith. I actually wasn't ready for this. I was worried you'd be shocked to find out I was your ex-fiancé."
Edith rolled her eyes. "I still don't understand what you're thinking. Haven't you considered how Eliana must have felt all this time, desperately wanting a father?"
"I've seen that Eliana hasn't truly loved me. That's why I'm still not confident enough to be her father."
"Perhaps I can discuss that with her. For now, I want you to be honest." A shaky breath escaped her lips. "Is it true that we did a pre-wedding photoshoot?"
Cliff immediately took out his cell phone from his suit pocket, then showed all their pre-wedding photos with various backgrounds.
Edith was speechless. She stared at all the pre-wedding photos; they were so sweet and they looked so happy. She could tell that Cliff's smile at that moment showed how sincerely he cared for her. Would she have to rely on him more from now on? She deeply regretted having said such unimportant things to him earlier.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said bad things to you yesterday."
Cliff shook his head quickly. "It's okay. I know you said that for Eliana's own good."
"Later, before bed, I want to talk to my daughter. Maybe she'll start to accept you as a father after hearing this story."
His right hand touched his ex-fiancé's. "Edith, you don't need to be so pushy about Eliana accepting me as his father. What's important is that I want you to accept me as your husband. Since we made a mistake back then, shouldn't I be the one taking responsibility?"
Edith still felt something was off. Even though she'd been proven to be Cliff's fiancée, why did she feel like Cliff wasn't Eliana's father? She could tell from their pre-wedding photos that she and Cliff were in love. However, when it came to Eliana's biological father, Cliff was a complete misfit. Should she secretly get a DNA test?
"Cliff, since I found out about this so suddenly, I'd like to think about it a little longer. I still need time to think."
"It's okay. You should just think about it first. When you're ready, you can come to me."
"I'm sorry, it's not that I still doubt you. I hope you don't take offense."
"It's okay. In fact, if I were you, I'd be very shocked. Think about this carefully, Edith."
Edith's mood hasn't been good today since her stepmother lectured her to marry Cliff. All the evidence seems valid, and she can't deny it. Is now the time to introduce Eliana to Cliff as her father? Should she take a DNA test first? She still wonders if Erdin is her biological son.
Edith went to Callum's house to pick up her little daughter. She felt awkward with Callum, as she had been so troublesome today. While she was supposed to be the secret nanny, today, Callum was the one acting as Eliana's secret nanny.
For a moment, Callum led her to the living room to chat, as Eliana was fast asleep in the guest room. She wasn't sure what to say to Callum about finally finding Eliana's biological father.
"Edith, what's wrong with you?" Callum asked with a worried look.
"Callum, I think I found my real ex-fiancé."
Callum already had a bad feeling about Edith's words. This afternoon, while he was playing with his twins, his heart felt like it was being stabbed repeatedly with thorns, as if he knew his ex-girlfriend was wavering. Should he play his cards now?
"So, you're going to marry him?"
"I'm still really confused. Was he actually lying to me or not? But with the evidence he provided, I believe that man and I were engaged. I saw it with my own eyes. There's no way that photo could be faked."
A harsh breath escaped his lips. His right hand clenched tightly. "Edith, I didn't mean to provoke you. If I were you, I would immediately believe it because of the photo evidence. But are you sure that man is Eliana's biological father?"
"In fact, I still doubt it."
Callum rolled his eyes. "If you still doubt it, you should—"
"That's why I want to do a DNA test first. Besides, Eliana never liked him as his biological father."
Callum had wanted to suggest that Edith get a DNA test. He hadn't expected Edith to think so quickly. He'd actually been looking forward to this for a long time.
Is now the time to reveal Cliff's true identity? Then, he must also admit that he is Eliana's biological father.
"Edith, it would be best for you to take a DNA test. If it proves that Eliana is that man's child, I have no objections to you marrying him."
"Callum, I don't actually want to do a DNA test to see if Cliff and Eliana are compatible. But I do want to do a DNA test for another reason."
"Don't tell me… you want to test Eliana and Erdin's DNA?"
"Are you willing to allow it?"
Callum didn't expect his ex-girlfriend to be so savvy. This way, he wouldn't have to worry about trivial matters anymore. He was forced to pull out his trump card to prevent his woman from returning to that jerk.
"I will allow it."
"Really? You really want me to do a DNA test on Erdin too?"
"Because I'm curious too. If Erdin and Eliana's DNA test results match, what will you do?" Callum asked with a confident smile.
