Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: A Piece of Past Memory

Her breathing stabilized as she received a warm hug from her friend. Her head slowly lifted, staring at his handsome face close to hers, making her body even hotter. If she were selfish, she would have asked Callum to hold her longer. This warm embrace felt familiar to her; somehow, she felt like she had received special hugs like this often. Has she often been hugged by Callum?

Ever since a piece of her memory returned, she began to assume that Callum was the man she had just seen, even though his face wasn't clearly visible. Recalling that sweet moment, her eyes welled with tears, and she longed to go back. However, now she was faced with the biggest challenge of her life: between Cliff and Callum, who was the real father of her twins?

Unconsciously, her hands wrapped tightly around his broad back. She slowly felt his broad back, her head resting on his shoulder.

"I remembered something."

His eyes widened and his mouth dropped open. "What do you remember?"

"I remember a date I had with a man." She gently massaged her forehead. "But I don't remember who he was. But judging by his posture, he was someone I knew."

Callum's heart was pounding. Was the memory of their old date? Or was it a date between Edith and Cliff before their relationship fell apart? Callum desperately hoped Edith would forget all the bad memories and only remember the sweet moments they had shared.

Edith stared at Callum's face with a twinkling of an eye. Her right hand touched his soft cheek, and her lips longed to taste it. Ever since that sweet memory returned to her, she saw Callum not just as a friend, but as something more.

"You look so much like him."

"Edith… do you really remember me?"

Edith looked away, looking down in shame. She didn't want to make any hasty decisions right now. Especially since she and Callum were just getting to know each other, and she wanted to get to know him slowly.

"By the way, the kids will be waking up soon. Aren't you going to prepare dinner first?" Edith asked nervously.

"For now, can I be selfish again?" Callum wiped his eyes, which were starting to get wet. "I miss my wife so much. For the past five years, I've been going crazy because I can't live without her."

"Callum, do I look a lot like your wife?"

Callum nodded. "I have you now. Hiring you as my secret nanny and personal designer was just an excuse. Actually, I—"

"Mom, I'm hungry!" Erdin whined, rubbing his eyes while yawning.

Edith's heart skipped a beat when her son called her "mom" for the first time, even though he had always called her "Aunt Edith." Even though she hadn't had a DNA test, her son was already confident enough to call her by that special nickname.

Edith didn't mind Erdin calling her "mom" straight away. Now she wouldn't be so foolish because of her amnesia. Of course, she loved her son, who was becoming increasingly sweet when he called her by that special nickname. She immediately got up from the swing, ran to her son, and hugged him tightly.

"What do you want to eat? Let me make it for you."

Erdin kept his mouth shut as he stared at his father from afar. He had accidentally let out the word "mom" because he couldn't hold it in any longer. However, seeing his father nod, indicating that he was allowed to call him that, he was relieved. From now on, he wouldn't have to act anymore.

"Does mom have any chocolate? I'm really hungry now."

"Of course I have. I just happened to bring you a lot of chocolate."

"Great, I can eat as much chocolate as I want."

Callum folded his arms. "But don't overdo it, Erdin. You'll rot your teeth if you eat too much in one day."

"Don't worry, Dad. I'll definitely obey you."

The holiday quickly passed. It was already evening, and Eliana and Erdin still felt unsatisfied with their parents' playtime. Even though they would play again tomorrow, they didn't want the time to pass quickly. Because once Monday arrived, they wouldn't be free to play. Moreover, they hated Mondays.

Eliana still didn't want to sleep because she loved hearing her father's voice as he read stories to her. Her eyes still blinked as she stared at her father's handsome, overly sweet face, making her want to be pampered even more.

"Daddy..." Eliana called him spoiled.

Edith's eyes widened when she heard her daughter openly call Callum "dad." Moreover, she could see with her own eyes that Callum didn't mind being called that. In fact, Callum was overjoyed to hear it and gave his daughter a loving hug.

"I won't leave you. I'll definitely read you a story. I have long wanted to read a fairy tale for a beautiful little princess." His right hand rhythmically patted his daughter's arm.

"I want to sleep here until tomorrow, is that okay?"

"Of course you can," Callum replied enthusiastically, looking at his beloved woman. "Do you mind, Edith?"

"Callum, but if I stay at your house, isn't that a bit much?"

"It's okay. Besides, you guys have to visit me tomorrow too."

"But, we didn't bring anything today."

"I've bought beautiful clothes for you and Eliana."

Eliana's eyes flickered as she looked at her father. "Really?"

"Of course. I already know your size. You'll definitely love the fairy costume I bought."

"Then what about me?" Edith asked nervously.

"Of course I know your size. I bought a beautiful dress for you." Callum patted his ex-girlfriend on the shoulder. "You don't have to worry anymore. You can wake up late tomorrow morning too. The important thing is that our children are happy."

The next day, Edith woke up late because she had a strange dream the night before. Since her memory returned, she had also dreamed about her past. However, strangely, she saw herself meeting Cliff's birth mother. Their argument was about the prohibition against her marriage to Callum. What really happened? What is the relationship between Cliff and Callum?
