Evelyn slept late and naturally woke up late. She got out of bed leisurely and checked the time. She saw that it was already past 12 pm. To think she was scolding Selene for waking up at this same time earlier this morning.
Thinking of the fact that Selene was coming back today, Evelyn suddenly felt rejuvenated. She dashed into the bathroom and brushed her teeth then washed her face.
Without changing out of her pyjamas, she went downstairs with light steps. It was already way past breakfast and the food must've been packed up by now.
She went to the kitchen and lightly gave orders to the chef.
"Make me a few light dishes."
She turned around to leave but the chefs voice stopped her in place.
"I'm sorry madam but that's not possible right now. Lunch will be served in two hours, you can always wait."
Evelyn turned around incredulously.
"Are you talking to me?"
The chef acted as though she didn't see the disbelieving expression on Evelyn's face.
"Madam please leave. The food will be ready in a few hours. You can do something to pass time."
Evelyn couldn't believe her ears. A servant who was being paid to cook was telling her she wouldn't cook for two more hours despite knowing she had yet to have breakfast.
Evelyn laughed angrily. Nathan was really great. Even the servants dared to treat her with contempt.
Was it because she had always followed Nathan's schedule that she had never experienced this before?
Today she just happened to sleep in and was met with such blatant disrespect. It was quite chilling.
Before she could even say anything else, the butler who had no doubt been informed by someone else about the situation here, came over.
Just as Evelyn expected, his words glossed over the situation and immediately painted her as the guilty party.
"Madam please don't make things difficult for the staff. Lunch will be ready in a few hours."
Evelyn could swear this was a warning to her not to we've miss breakfast again. She thought to herself that it was great she wouldn't be coming back after today.
Her eyes swept over all the servants standing around and sneered. Then she chuckled and shook her head.
"Okay."
She said nothing more and headed up the stairs. Evelyn took a bath and dug deep into her cabinet pulling out a pair of bell bottom jeans and a pink off shoulder long sleeved top that hugged her figure.
She dressed up and pulled her hair up in an intricate updo which took quite a bit of time. It seemed like it was just a simple messy bun but it was carefully crafted to have this look.
She let a few tendrils fall out of the bun, highly elevating the look.
She caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror and threw herself a kiss. With this look, she was transformed from a socialite wife of twenty-five to a college student of twenty.
She picked up the cute bag she bought last time and put in her passport, ID card, bank card and some other important documents.
She was happy thinking of never having to come back her again and went downstairs only to be met with the sight of Nathan and Sebastian sitting together.
Evelyn froze for a second before regaining her senses. She ignored them both and headed towards the door but was stopped by Nathan.
His eyes roamed over her with a greed that now disgusted her.
"Evie, where are you going?"
Evelyn shrugged.
"I was waiting for you to come back last night so I didn't sleep on time. When I woke up, I already missed breakfast so I asked the chef to make me something but she asked me to wait for lunch. I'm not someone who'll wrong myself so I'm going out to eat "
Sebastian frowned slightly but Nathan didn't even react. If he really cared for her, he would've noticed she was complaining about the chef but his attention was focused on something else.
"You're going out do you want me to accompany you?"
Evelyn declined.
"You have a guest over. Besides, Lenny is coming back today and I'll be going to pick her up."
Nathan frowned but couldn't find a way to refute. Something told him that the Evelyn of today was quite different from what he was used to seeing but he couldn't place his finger on it.
"Then you come back early okay."
Evelyn thought in her heart that she was never coming back but on the surface she said.
"Okay then, but I'll be out for a while"
Nathan nodded. He knew Selene had gone abroad after their wedding and had never come back since then so Evelyn would definitely want to spend more time with her. He convinced himself like that and watched her go.
He turned around and saw Sebastian looking at him weirdly. Not being used to facing such scrutiny from his friends, he quickly asked.
"What's wrong?"
"Did you hear what she said?"
Nathan was at a loss. She said a lot of things which one did he mean.
Sebastian saw him like this and knew that he still didn't understand.
"Your wife said that the chef refused to prepare a meal for her because she woke up late and missed breakfast. Don't you see she was clearly complaining?"
Nathan finally remembered but casually shrugged it off.
"Oh it's not big deal. Evelyn isn't someone who holds things to heart. She'll forget soon enough."
One look at him and Sebastian knew he didn't take it seriously. Although he was skeptical of the saying that Evelyn didn't hold grudges, he wasn't the one sharing a bed with her so he assumed she had probably changed alot and was not as petty as before. Not to mention, Nathan was the one she loved.
He had no opinions of men having multiple women, after all, men were polygamous in nature but he wouldn't let any of his women be bullied. Not to mention this was his legal wife.
He felt like his friend was a bit stupid but these were personal affairs and it wasn't okay to get involved.
For some reason, he thought of Evelyn's resolute back as she was leaving. To him it somehow felt like someone who had decided to finally been set free.
He shook his head and told himself not to think too much. Evelyn was famous for being loved brain. Just like her mother, she would probably rather die than leave Nathan.
Sebastian thought like this and calmly continued his conversation with Nathan.
