His journey back home was utterly silent.

He didn't know what happened to the nagging voice inside his head. It seem to have vanished leaving a silence both within and outside of him .

Thunder was already waiting for him outside the gates, She looked at him up and down before 'smiling'.

"Where did you go ?"

"I just went out for a run "

"Why did you go for a run ?"

"I just wanted some air "

Her grin went wider " Really?"

"Yes"

There are times he wondered that if he had said the truth , Thunder would still be alive by now.

She stared at him for a long while.

"Winter , I love you"

Winter wanted to say it back, their declaration of love was common in their marriage. However something has changed.

He felt like he was lying now.

Thunder let out a sigh before stretching out her hand "Let's go inside , it's late"

Winter stared back at her before putting his hand in hers "Okay"

He and Summer never talked about that day again. In fact , everything was going so normal, it was almost eerie.

It was becoming an habit , Sweeping secrets and feelings under the rug. It was better to leave things unsettled than ruin their friendship.

So they thought.

Summer never got over his jealousy. Winter can still see it at times, a poisonous stare , clicking tongue and odd smile.

Thunder aggressiveness towards winter increased. She regularly took him out on couple dates , she told regularly she loves him , she insisted on sex every night. 

Sometimes she would hug him tight , her eyes red with emotions.

"We will get through this , it's just a difficult patch in our marriage" She laughed and kissed his eyes "I love you , I love you so much"

Winter did his best to accompany Thunder , he went for every date and he had sex with her whenever she asked. However Winter found himself looking at Summer more. White hair that flow down his back , hazy eyes , lazy smile , thin red lips.

He can't help it , ever since he realized his feelings, he really can't help it.

'The king of the Huli Jing clan, having feelings for a man , how disgusting!'

He have kids , two kids and a loyal wife who sacrificed everything for him , how disgusting!

'Taking advantage of his friend, how disingenuous!'

It was during nights when the voices threaten to turn him insane , he would plead Thunder to have s*x with him.

After the intense session , he would bury himself into Thunder arms and cry. He never said the reason for his tears , he just know that he needed to get it out , get the frustration out.

Thunder would just silently allow him to vent; When he's done , she would kiss his tears away then lower her soft mouth to his ears.

A year passed that way.

It was almost Spring crowning coronation; The time have come for him to step down from the throne.

Honestly he didn't feel aggrieved about it ; in fact he felt relieved. Power was addicting , but the insecurities , the internal and external wars , the drive to make sure no one takes it from him can be very tiring.

He just want to go to where no one can find him and stay there forever.

He was so busy with thinking he didn't notice someone was behind him until they tapped his waist.

Winter jumped out of fright and turned back , It was only Summer.

"Summer..."

Summer moved closer to him with his lazy ease.

"What are you thinking about? Not wanting to retire?"

Winter felt a bit hot as Summer moved closer so he stepped back. Summer smiled like it didn't bother him but his eyes flashed pain.

"I am thinking about how I can quickly step down " He rubbed his hair in a timid way " It's tiring you know?"

Summer nodded and held his wrist, When he noticed Winter didn't struggle , a genuine smile light up his face and he dragged Winter to the garden.

"Let's drink some spiritual alcohol and talk about old times "

Normal alcohol didn't have the ability to make demons drunk but spiritual wine does , It was made by a special fruit and fermented under the sun and moon for 1 year. It was quite expensive.

He didn't know how Summer managed to get his arms on one, but he won't pass up on an opportunity to be alone with summer.

Summer kept pouring for him and he kept drinking , at one point his eyes started to water and a silly smile plastered on his lips.

He used this opportunity to stare at Summer.

Summer was quite the looker. Pretty eyes , pursed lips , beautiful voice, His best friend was really handsome and that's great ! 

He wished Summer was his , how wonderful would it be if Summer was his.

"If you keep staring at me like that , I won't be able to control myself into kissing you "

Winter recalled the first and last time Summer kissed him and shuddered " You are a bad kisser , tastes of blood "

Summer paused in his actions and then raise his head to stare at him. The both of them engaged in a silent battle before Summer dropped the wine jar and moved beside him.

Summer used a finger to trace upwards till he reach Winter's chin. His eyes were becoming more and more hazy , his breathing quickened.

Winter felt hot and hazy in the head. He know that this was dangerous territory but he couldn't help but just stay still.

Pleasure pooled in his abdomen, Winter breathe out and locked his legs together. 

Summer lowered his eyes to his legs , his eyes were dark " Winter …"

A random thought echoed in his head.

It will be nice to feel Summer lips.

Summer seemed to have heard this thought because he pinched his chin and went in.

The moment their lips touched , Winter shivered. His grip was so tight he felt blood; it was like he was fed candy.

Summer nibbled on his lips for a while before introducing his tongue.

With the gentle prodding of Summer tongue , Winter began to heat up , his tongue chased Summer relentlesly , at one point, he felt Summer was about to pull away so he wrapped his arms around Summer neck.

"Winter…"

"Summer…" He pulled even harder, his voice getting lighter "Summer…Summer mphhhh"

"I want to touch you " Summer slipped a hand into his robe and began to caress silky skin. "Winter call my name"

"Summer…"

Winter have never felt this way before, not even towards thunder. The kiss felt powerful, even his deepest intimacy with thunder didn't compare to one third of the kiss. 

He doesn't want to stop , he pulled Summer closer to himself and rubbed his body against his. When Summer rocked back, He almost fainted with estacy.

It was just kissing and touches but Winter felt like he was floating. When did Summer get so skilled ? His kissing was so nice? Who did he practiced with?

'....Who did he practice with?'

Summer seemed to have noticed his attention was diverted, so he pinched a n*pple resentfully.

"Mmmmnnn"

Summer froze slightly before pinching it again. Winter couldn't stop the soft moan that escaped again.

Summer stopped kissing and lowered his head to his chest , the nipple surrounded by a warm mouth twitched twice before scattering pleasure into the base of his spine.

Winter eyes rolled back and a loud moan escaped his throat.

Summer seem to be driven insane by his sounds because he started to attack his n*pples with vigor. Winter threw a hand over his mouth but it still didn't stop it from coming out.

He wanted more , summer should take him wholeheartedly…

"Winter..."

Winter snapped his head up and looked to the side, It was a white as paper Thunder standing in front of the garden and staring at him.

Winter seemed to have sobered up at that point, all of a sudden, he was aware of his state right now.

Disheveled hair , flushed face , lips kissed into being red and plump , his n*pples red and wet with saliva.

He broke into a panic " Thunder I can explain...."

Electricity crackled through her hair and eyes , The electrical voltage was so insanely high , her purple hair turned white. She roared before pouncing on him.

"You b*stard !!!!"

Summer pushed him violently and he landed on the ground. Thunder didn't change her position , she attacked Summer and started to fight .

The fight was violent. She fought like she wanted to vent out her anger, Summer seemed to have the same idea because he fought equally as violently.

"I knew it ! I knew you would take him from me you f*cking demon !!! Just because of a rivalry ?! He have a family!!! You just want to seduce him into releasing you from the slave trap and taking the throne !!!"

"Don't assume what you don't understand!!!"

Thunder let out a roar , her voice collapsed as tears spilled down her face.

"I married him , I loved him! he chose me! He said he loved me !!!" 

Winter felt his world was collapsing.

Where did he all go wrong? Was it that day ge saw thunder under the rain and immediately assumed it was love? Was it when he married because he misunderstood Summer affection towards her? Was it when he sent her to war just because he wanted to stabilize his position and remove the target from summer back ? Was it when he kept giving her hope, despite knowing that he had feelings for someone else? Was it taking that alcohol knowing it would make him lose his inhibitions? Or is he when he acted on this feelings, ruining his family?

"What have I done?"

'Why ? Why ?'

She made a ball of purple lightening and threw it at Summer.

Winter legs moved before he noticed. He jumped in front of Summer and collected the blow. The electricity ran through his body violently before the world went dark.

It was after 3 months that Winter woke up.

He blinked open his eyes and sat up. He was still rubbing his eyes when he felt a hand on his shoulder.

He flinched and looked to the side. It was only Autumn.

Autumn 'smiled' at him " Dad you finally woke up"

Winter blinked and rubbed his eyes again ; how long have he been asleep?

"Thunder..." His voice was hoarse from the lack of use " Summer..."

Autumn froze slightly before smiling again.

"Dad I am going to call Queen spring to tell you somethings "

Winter didn't know why but he felt a chill run through his spine. Autumn only bail out when it comes to saying bad news.

He grabbed his wrist " Where's your mother? Where's she? What about Uncle Summer? Where are they?"

Autumn seemed even more nervous now. He struggled against winter grip violently but he didn't let go.

He had a feeling that if he let go , it would be the end for him.

Autumn gave up and stared angrily at his dad , his eyes were filled with purple electricity and his hair crackled like he would silence him there.

"It's all your fault !!! It's all your fault !!!" Then as if he was insane, he held his head with his free hand "No it's all his fault !!! If he didn't exist, nothing would have happened!!!"

Winter face turned even paler.

Autumn glared at him " You want to know what happened right? right?!"

"Yes"

"Mom is dead !!! "

'Thunder is ...dead?'

After that blow on him , He had lost consciousness. The power behind the attack was murderous. On a normal level , he could just lose a tail, but the electricity kept running through his body destroying his tails one after the other.

He lost 8 tails.( Remember a tail equal a life)

Seeing his state , Summer was enraged and began to fight Thunder to the death. Thunder was already feeling confused by then so she allowed him to snap her neck.

Summer didn't stop there , He pulled out every one of her tail.

When the palace guards arrived it was already too late.

The Huli Jing king was lying down unconscious and the Left general was killed cold blooded by the Right general.

Tears spilled down Autumn eyes "Mom's tails were scattered !!! Her neck was an abnormal angle ..."

'Summer killed Thunder... no I killed Thunder...'

It was all his fault , He was the one who couldn't control his feelings, he was the one who cheated , he was the one who drank the alcohol , he was the one who encourage Summer to continue kissing him, He was the reason everything was happening.

"Summer would be executed tomorrow at dawn ..."

"Nooo " Winter shouted and struggled to stand up , Autumn didn't catch him quickly and he fell on his knees "Don't execute Summer!!!"

Autumn seemed even more angry now "You are still worried about him ?!!"

"Please don't execute him , it's not his fault !!! I was the one who cheated !!!"

There was a thick silence before Autumn let out a mocking laugh , he didn't know if he was laughing at him or at the situation.

"It was the court that decided on it not us "

That means it was the court that he have to beg.

"Take me there"

Autumn carried him on his back and they reached the court in no time , Winter struggled out of his back and opened the door.

Spring wasn't in court but the Moon goddesses was there, they were having a discussion and laughing, while the rest were silent.

They looked simultaneously at him " Winter ..."

"Are you the one who gave the punishment?"

They nodded.

Winter went down on his knees.

Everyone in the court gasped in horror, Autumn just sighed loudly and placed his teary eyes elsewhere , the goddesses however were quiet. Their eyes looked at him with unknown emotions.

"Please don't kill him .... " He bowed his head as a tear spilled down his cheek " Please I am begging you "

"But he killed your wife "

"That's why you can't kill him , He did what he did in anger... " His voice cracked and he broke into sobs "I already lost Thunder , I can't lose him too"

One of the goddess sighed "I guess this punishment is enough for you , we can summarize it all as karma for your sins "

There was a prevalent saying that went through the 3 realms, Fate can't be avoided because the gods loved cruel jokes.

They reduced Summer punishment , he was to be in heaven prison for a century and meditate , Winter was to collect part of his punishment by going into a long sleep.

The day Summer get released, is the day he would open his eyes.

He smiled at Spring and Autumn , Although they looked unconcerned there was tears in their eyes.

In the end , blood really was thicker than water; They could resent but they could not hate.

'I didn't kill her on purpose !!!'

Winter let out a bitter laugh " You liar "

His heart started aching and he lowered himself to the ground. Tears spilled down his face and sobs escaped his mouth.

The voice from long ago whispered seductively in his mind .
