Finally we were at the meeting point, a bit of a nicer location for us to be doing business with guys like this. A group of black cars were parked outside some sort of fancy restaurant.
"Seems they are already inside. Let's get it over with." Pinky said with a bit of disappointment.
The disappointment is understandable since everyone hates working with people like them, at least that's what I'd assume. I never really dealt with them much so this is out of my field of knowledge.
We got out the car and made our way inside, music seems to be playing in here but it wasn't that surprising. The restaurant was full of people... The worst kind of people.
Everyone was dressed up pretty nicely while I was dressed as casual as I could possibly dress. Pinky kind of blended in here a little bit but he definitely was not some corporate asshole.
Just a normal asshole working out a deal for Reika. It was hard to figure out who was the right group for us to approach in here.
"Over there, seems they are looking right at us." Pinky pointed out while he looked ahead.
"Ahhh. I see the guys you're talking about." I replied with a calm tone.
Ahead of us I could see a group of guys sitting at a table, all of them appeared to be wearing full black suits with a bit of neon green etched into the sides. It seemed to spell out "The Foundation" across one of their sleeves.
Definitely the guys we are looking for.
I followed behind Pinky as we made our way over to the table, one of them definitely seemed to be the guy in charge here.
"You two must be from Karma, how nice to finally meet somebody from such a wonderful gang." The man spoke with such an annoying voice.
His voice is actually one of the most annoying ones I've ever heard in my life. He was not blessed with a good one, I bet many people wanted to kick his ass in his lifetime.
This guy had short spiky blonde hair, black sunglasses on, the same suit as the others, and some metal in his hands. He was definitely the one in charge of this group here today.
I'd hate to be working under a guy like him with such an annoying voice. It doesn't match how he looks at all.
"Can we get down to business?" Pinky asked with a serious tone.
"Of course. Of course. Have a seat." He responded while gesturing for us to sit.
So I took a seat alongside Pinky while waiting to see what happens next. I'm a little more on edge for some reason, I'm not entirely sure I know why yet.
The guys sitting around the boss there were keeping a close eye on me and it felt kind of odd. Except the one, he kept looking past me as if he was watching for someone.
"Did you bring what was promised?" The annoying man asked.
"Yes I did. Here you go." Pinky answered before sliding a briefcase across the table.
I watched as the man opened up the briefcase, inside seemed to be some sort of metal with a special chip on the right side of it.
If we came for hardware, why are we also giving them some sort of hardware? Something about this feels sketchy and I don't know what to make of it just yet.
I could understand if it was just the chip but we also threw in a whole piece of metal as well.
Guess it doesn't matter since I'm not the one in charge of any of this, not my problem if the deal feels like a scam. I'd never do such an exchange with these pricks anyway.
"Give them the case." The annoying man instructed one of his men.
A briefcase slide across the table and Pinky opened it up. Inside the case was a bunch of strange tech that I never seen before, not even in passing.
A lot of it was glowing with different shades of blue, green, and even red.
"Seems everything is good, we'll be on our way now." Pinky said as he started to stand up.
"No need to rush off. I'd love to get to know you a bit better, especially if we end up doing more business down the line." He replied with a bit of a genuine tone.
"I don't know you, nor do I want to know you." Pinky said with a blunt tone.
I'm not entirely sure if I should speak in this situation since I'm just 'Fresh meat' when it comes to rankings. I'll just let Pinky handle this and be ready for a gunfight.
"Fine, fine. I'm sure I'll see you again at some point." He responded before leaning back against the seat.
I didn't hesitate to get up and follow behind him again since I didn't want to be stuck with those guys. Pinky didn't say anything else till we made it to the car, seems like he didn't want anyone listening in.
"That was the only other deal for today, we're heading back. Keep an eye out for anyone that might be following us." Pinky advises as he reversed the car.
"I'll keep an eye out." I responded while looking out the window.
As we began to drive away I couldn't see anyone following behind us, it seemed like everything was just fine. It felt kind of weird that he would suspect anyone of following us.
The ride back to the headquarters was pretty quiet for the most part, other than occasionally hearing a brief gunshot. That was the sign that we almost made it back.
I could actually see the headquarters in the distance so it was nice to finally be back after all that damn driving.
"Good job today. I believe you'll be joining me for more jobs after this." Pinky said with a genuine tone.
"I didn't really do much." I replied with a bit of confusion in my voice.
"You had patience with everything and you kept an eye on everyone at the deals." Pinky said with the same tone as before.
