Having finished preparing everything needed, Evelyne went to Tristan's office to remind him of the schedule for the day.
As soon as she walked in, Tristan was standing looking out the large window behind his desk.
"Good morning, sir. Today I will tell you the schedule that I have compiled. This morning at nine o'clock there will be..."
"Is that him?" the man asked, suddenly cutting her off. He turned around and looked at his secretary. "It seems that the relationship between you two is still going well, hmn?"
"What do you mean?"
Tristan walked away from the window to the front of his desk and half leaned back while folding his arms in front of his chest.
"You and that guy. You two are still so close even after six years since the incident. Is he your boyfriend now?"
Evelyne was a little surprised that Tristan was suddenly talking about Daniel, although he did not mention his name but she could tell who he was currently talking about.
Feeling that this had nothing to do with work, Evelyne cleared her throat softly while keeping her facial expression.
"This is not something related to work, sir. So I won't answer that question," she replied firmly.
'Even now he still believes I have a relationship with Daniel? Tristan, how exactly do you see me right now?' she thought at the time.
However, Tristan seemed unwilling to let go of the topic.
"Is it wrong for me to want to know about my own secretary's life? You even organize my every schedule. So there's nothing wrong with me knowing yours," Tristan replied with a sly grin.
Evelyne who saw it was annoyed that he seemed to be so curious about her personal life right now. Right then and there he emphasized it to her once again.
"My personal life is not part of my job, your schedule is my job. Those two things are obviously much different. So please stop asking as if you care," Evelyne said, holding back her anger.
Without saying anything else, she began to read out Tristan's schedule for the day from nine in the morning to four in the afternoon.
Tristan who listened to him could only be silent and then took his cellphone. "I have an additional schedule from a partner who contacted me. There is a dinner at 7pm tonight. And I want you to accompany me."
"Seven o'clock tonight?" asked Evelyne with a frown.
He nodded and he wanted Evelyne there as his secretary. Of course she couldn't, considering she had to pick up Luke at six in the evening.
However, she couldn't refuse because it was also part of the job.
'How am I supposed to pick Luke up when I still have a schedule until seven in the evening? I'm sure the dinner will go on for a while as it's all business,' the brunette woman thought in confusion.
"So Secretary Evelyne, you will come accompany me right?" He walked over and stood before her.
His tall body towered over her. "I don't accept rejection, I'm sure you know that."
"Y-yes, sir." She had no choice but to accept it.
"Good, that's the answer I wanted to hear." The man withdrew and sat down in his desk chair. "Bring me some cold water."
She nodded and turned to leave. In the office kitchen, Evelyne was on the phone to Daniel as she fetched cold water for Tristan.
She asked him to take Luke home and keep him company until she got home. Actually, Evelyne didn't want to bother him, Daniel had helped her and Luke too much.
However, this time she had no other choice. Daniel was the only friend she could ask for help and trust. Her parents had died a long time ago, she had no other family besides Luke.
"No problem, I'll stay with him until you get home. Do you need me to pick you up to go home later?" he asked.
"No need, I'll just take a taxi home. You keep Luke company at home. Sorry to trouble you, Dan."
She ended the call and grabbed a glass of water with ice cubes in it and walked back to Tristan's office.
As she opened the door, she saw Tristan focused on the paperwork on the desk. He pulled his tie slightly to loosen it as he put on his glasses.
Evelyne tried to ignore all those things that kept reminding her of something and put down the cold water he had requested.
"Here's the glass of cold water you wanted, sir."
"Yes, thank you." Without look at her, Tristan took the glass and drank it.
She turned around and was about to leave the office when Tristan called out to her.
"Evelyne," he called.
"Yes, sir?" she replied, looking back.
Whenever Tristan heard Evelyne call him 'sir', he felt a little disturbed because he used to call her 'Love' or 'honey'.
However, Tristan put those thoughts aside for now.
"I need the report for product distribution for the last three months. Get the document and bring it to my office. I need it now," he said.
"Yes, sir." As Evelyne left the office, Tristan was silent while still looking at the door.
He remembered this morning seeing Evelyne coming to the company drive by Daniel. Although the man didn't get out of the car, Tristan could see him in the rearview mirror of Daniel's car.
'They're really together, huh? She's really moved on from me,' he thought as he drank the water in his glass and left only ice cubes.
His hand gripped the glass firmly as if he wasn't happy about the fact.
Later that evening, Evelyne accompanied Tristan to dinner to discuss business with one of his partners. She stood right behind him, watching him.
In front of her was a blonde haired man who was also a secretary. They both greeted each other with a nod of the head while listening to their boss' conversation.
She took notes of every important thing from the evening's conversation for Tristan's consideration the next day.
Although she seemed focused, she occasionally looked at her watch. Worrying about Luke even though she knew her son would be fine with Daniel.
'It's eight o'clock at night. Has he eaten dinner and gone to bed?' she thought to herself.
Her mind was constantly filled with worry and guilt for Luke. She even put aside the hunger in her stomach at the moment.
Fifteen minutes later, Tristan and his business partner ended dinner. They both stood up and shook hands. They walked first with their secretary following.
"Hi, my name is Mike Madel. I heard your name is Evelyne," said the man next to him this time.
"Yes, my name is Evelyne Moretti. We haven't met before," she replied.
"I've noticed that you've been checking your watch. Do you have something important to do or is someone waiting for you?" Mike asked, trying not to invade Evelyne's privacy.
"Yes, about that..."
Before she could answer, Tristan pulled Evelyne's waist towards him which made her startle and look straight at him.
His gaze was so sharp that he looked at Mike who engaged her in conversation and then turned to her.
"There you are, my secretary. Don't go too far, I need you."
