The next morning, they acted like nothing happened.
Dami sat at the breakfast table reading his tablet. Teni sat across from him eating akara with more aggression than necessary.
Silence.
Heavy, awkward, romantic silence.
"So… how's the fake marriage going?" she blurted.
Dami blinked. "Are you asking me as my fake wife or my real headache?"
"I just want to know where I stand. Emotionally. Financially. Breakfast-ly."
He put the tablet down and sighed. "Teni, I don't know what's happening either. But I can't stop thinking about you."
Her heart fluttered. Then she frowned. "Thinking about how to annoy me?"
He smirked. "Among other things."
There was a knock at the door.
His mother.
Chief Mrs. Alade.
And she looked furious.
