Deep in the hills of Abiriba, Prince Nwabueze, heir to the throne, was stricken by an incurable ailment. The gods had been ignored, the ancestors disrespected, and tradition abandoned.
His father, the King, had warned him. But the young prince, proud and defiant, had cast aside ancient customs. Now, he paid the price.
While palace healers failed, one maiden remained Uzoaru. She stood firm at his side, loyal in her love and full of hope. When a seer revealed the cure lay beyond the kingdom, in distant lands of danger and magic, Uzoaru stepped forward to undertake the journey.
She was fortified with chants and rituals, her spirit cloaked in ancestral protection.
Far from the palace, news reached Nwanne, once a favorite of the prince. She had moved on when he fell ill. But now, hearing of Uzoaru's mission, ambition gripped her again.
When the seer refused her fortification, she sought a darker path approaching a banished seer known for her deadly dealings with forbidden spirits.
Now, both maidens walk the same treacherous road one shielded by purity, the other empowered by darkness. And the question remains:
Who shall return to the prince—and to the crown?
