"What are you doing?" Rachel asked, pulled out of her thoughts by the sudden interruption.
She was a bit annoyed. Why was Kellan treating Cora and her so differently?
Her clear, bright eyes stared at Kellan.
"Why work so much? You work at the café during the day and drive at night. Shouldn't you be at home with your kid?" His brows raised slightly, and a glint flashed in his dark eyes.
Rachel rolled her eyes at him. Since when did he care so much?
"To make money. In our world of small people, how would someone like you ever understand?" Rachel pursed her lips, feeling kind of helpless. Who wouldn't want to spend more time with their child?
Was this woman only obsessed with money? But the life she lived was obviously tough. Why didn't she just come to him for help?
"Who's the kid's father?" Kellan narrowed his eyes and asked on purpose, the corners of his lips lifting.
"The kid's father disappeared." Rachel froze for a second, then lowered her eyes and answered calmly.
