Chapter 39 - Get Even With Her

The next morning, at the Elliott family residence:

"Go and call her down."

The man's low voice was magnetic and lazy, but it carried a coldness that couldn't be ignored.

There was no trace of warmth on his handsome, icy face. His deep black eyes were sharp and emotionless.

The whole room was silent. None of the servants dared to breathe too loudly. The air was tense, almost suffocating.

Aunt Ives was always observant. Seeing the young master's expression, she felt that something was wrong.

Had Miss Allen made him angry?

Without delay, she headed upstairs.

It was still early, the sky outside slightly grey with morning mist. Rachel was still asleep.

She heard the knock at the door and suddenly opened her eyes.

Her heart skipped. Was it Kellan?

She quickly sat up, tiptoed over to move the wooden chair she had pushed up against the door, and then opened it.
