"we're here." which snapped me out of my thoughts. "Already?" I asked tiredly. "Luna, we've been walking for hours. What do you mean already?" I stayed silent. He walked up to the door and knocked looking at me concerned. A woman came out. "Monsieur Orion!" She lifted up her arms and gave him a hug. "Nice to see you too." He patted her on the back. She let go. "How are the kids!?" She asked excitedly. "Luna and Leo?" Orion responded. "Yes! You're-" She paused. "The kids you're protecting." She said a little less enthusiastically. "Luna's ok I think but we need your help. The Eclipse Order came and took Leo we need a place to lay low." She put her hands over her mouth. "Of course you can stay here Orion!" She looked behind him. "And you must be Luna? You're all grown up now! I remember you when you were just a tiny little thing. Come here madam" I walked up to her. "My name is Amelie, I was a friend of your mothers." She said. "Are you like her?" I asked. "In what regard do you mean?" She responded. "Like with powers." I responded. "Sort of! I do not come from a bloodline my dear, I have elemental powers." I looked at Orion. "Not everybody comes from a bloodline?" I had never heard of this.
"No dear, some of us have elemental energy like me, for example I have water. I am not as strong as somebody with a bloodline however, I believe I am just as important to the magic world. Your mother believed this too. Us with elemental energy are treated poorly since we don't have any bloodlines. Your mother seeked to change this!" Amelie said. Her expression grew sadder. "Anyway! Come in, we have lots to discuss." She opened the door wider. Orion and I stepped inside. "Would you two like anything? Maybe food, tea?" Around the house, there were children running around laughing who seemed to have abilities. "Who are they?" I asked. "These are children who were abandoned because of their magic. Parents who couldn't handle that their child was special! They couldn't be at the orphanage because they wouldn't know how to handle them. So I take the children in, I am their foster mother." I looked around at all the children who were laughing, playing, and so happy. How could anybody abandon these children? I felt a tear come down my face. "Luna?" Amelie asked. I wiped my tears. "Nothing, Leo and I were also orphans. I wish we could be here instead of there. She looked over at Orion. "Orphans? Why didn't you take care of them?" Amelie said, confused. "I didn't know where they were." Amelie didn't press any further.
"About that food, are you two hungry?" She asked. "Starving." I replied. Then I chuckled to myself. I realized that was probably the same answer Leo would've given. I missed him so much we've never been away from each other for so long. She went into the kitchen and started to prepare some food. All the children screaming around me, laughing, playing slowly started to fade out. I had this odd feeling that something bad was about to happen. I started to breathe heavily, breathing became harder and harder, I dropped to the floor and started to scream. It felt like I was being electrocuted. I couldn't see what was happening around me, I saw visions of Leo screaming as they tortured him. Then there was a woman there. A woman that looked like Solara. Leo felt scared, angry but most of all, weak. "Please, just let me go." Leo whispered. Solara leaned in closer. "This isn't something I want to do Leo, it's something I have to do. I need Luna to find you but I also need you to remain weak." Then they electrocuted again and he screamed, his screams echoed through my mind. Then, I saw a ton of little kids standing over me looking concerned. "Step aside." Amelie said. Orion also made his way through the children. I sat up.
"Luna, what happened? You were screaming" He said. "I was?" I tried to decipher what I just saw. "Luna no matter how much you try to convince me or even yourself you're not alright. There's something wrong with you." Amelie leaned down next to me. "Come with me, maybe I can help." She stood up. "Orion watch the kids will you?" Amelie asked. "Sure." He looked concerned. Amelie and I walked upstairs. She opened the door to her room inviting me in and I walked through. "Luna, sit." I sat down on her bed. She walked over to her dresser. "There was this prophecy I wanted you to see." She opened a drawer. "You're mother created it, actually her ability was to be able to see prophecies and she could perform spells, very powerful woman." She pulled out a book. Amelie opened the book. "Where is it? Ah! Here." She handed me the book.
When twin stars fall beneath an impure moon,
Born of Moonlight and shattered stone,
They were forced to grow up alone,
And they walk the edge of end and dawn.
Blood of Selene forged in hidden fire,
The silent guardian unknowingly chained,
One heart shall burn, one soul shall break,
The lost father revealed within time through earth and ache.
Only with the love of his children will the veil be torn,
Only with the truth shall the world be reborn,
Beware a great sacrifice will have to be made,
For the father of the Moonlights will surely die.
Together the two impures shall stand where the gods once knelt,
And from their grief the stars shall melt.
By the moon's last cry and the stone's last light,
The twins will face a choice like no other,
Save the world or be its downfall.
I finished reading and handed the book back to Amelie. "I don't get why you wanted me to see this." I put my hands on my knees. She leaned down grabbing my hands. "Luna dear, I have reason to believe this prophecy is about you and your brother." I ripped my hands away. "Wait, what!" I yelled. "Think about it! You are the last of Selene's blood, you two are twins, and you're very unique especially when it comes to the moonlights!" Amelie said. "What makes us so special?" I asked. "You two are not just Moonlights. Your father was not a Moonlight. You have a whole other part of you just waiting to be unlocked." I was shocked. "Wait so what does that mean?" I asked. "Don't you understand! You and Leo are meant to save us all." I stood up.
"Save you? I can't do that! I barely understand my own powers and now we're meant to be saviors?" She stood up with me. "Luna, this is an opportunity of a lifetime!" My fear rose, but so did my anger. I had just lost my brother and now I was the topic of a prophecy where so much pain was to befall me? "Luna?" Amelie said. Her voice became quieter and quieter until I blinked. All of a sudden, I was downstairs holding a knife, with scared children running around screaming. I gasped dropping it. Orion tackled me. "What is wrong with you?" He asked. "I don't-" I paused, unsure what was happening. I saw Amelie on the floor injured and her leg wasn't looking so good. Orion got off of me and I backed up. "I- I have to go." I ran out of the house in tears. "Luna, wait! It's just a side effect of the orb!" It was too late, I was gone. I was unsure where I was going. I just knew I needed to run.
