Chapter 29 - Chapter 13: Sins of The Father (Part Two)

"How do I know you're telling the truth?" I asked. He smirked. "That's the funny thing, isn't it? You don't. Let me show you." He put two fingers onto my head, and memories came rushing in. "Thank you for coming on such short notice, Darkin." A woman said. "Mom?" I whispered. "Of course, anything for my sister in law." He winked. She put her hands down on the table, pushing something to Darkin, and he picked it up. "What may this be?" He opened the paper to find a list of instructions. "This is for you to keep. There will be a day when Luna or Leo or maybe both will need you. I know you love them, Darkin I do. Since their father can't be there for them, you must be. Do you understand?" She asked. His face became serious again.

"Lyra, I will be there for them, I promise." She put her head down. "I hope so." She turned around going to the balconyy and Darkin followed. "I really hope so." I was then taken out of the memory and back to reality. "You see now, don't you?" He took out the paper. "Does that mean my father was from the psychic bloodline?" I asked. "Kind of? It's more confusing than that, I guess, so though, yea. That isn't what matters right now. I need to help you just as I promised your mother I would." He stood up. "So where is he?" I asked. "Where's who?"

Darkin responded. "My father, where is he?" I repeated. "Closer than you think." He winked. "The orb is controlling. I've been living in these woods for years." I was confused. "Why didn't you live with society?" I asked. He put his head up to the sky. "Oh, Luna, you have so much to learn. Impure's like us are not welcome." I was shocked. 'Impure's like us? You're impure too?" I asked. He chuckled, "Yes. Why do you think the Eclipse Order wants you dead so badly? Us dead so bad? They hunt impure's. You're at the top of their most wanted list." After he said this, my head started pounding. I put my hand on my head, trying to quiet it down. He looked back at me, and his eyebrows went down.

"Luna?" He asked. I put the other hand on the other side of my head. It hurt so bad. I screamed loud enough to make all the birds around us fly away. "Luna, it's going to be alright." I blinked and suddenly, I was sitting on a rock with Darkin finishing up his sentence. "This is such a mess," he tapped his foot. "H- how did we get here?" I asked. "I carried you here." He responded. "I don't remember that. The last thing I remember is my head pounding. Then, I was here." I said. "That happened hours ago, it's getting worse. We must do this quickly." He once again bent down in front of me, lifting his hands."This is going to hurt." He must've noticed I looked nervous because he stopped. "Do you trust me?" He asked. It was odd, it felt like I'd known him all my life. I felt the same way about him as I did when I met Orion. "Yes, I do trust you," I responded. He put his fingers onto my temples and closed his eyes, breathing in through his nose and out through his mouth.

Follow my voice. His voice said inside my head. Those words echoed over and over until I was in a room. "Darkin!" I screamed. "No, not Darkin." I heard somebody say in the distance, though I couldn't exactly point my finger on it. Until through the mist, a woman walked ou,t but not just any woman, it was me. "Truth?" I asked. "No, not Truth either." I tried to remember the room of emotions and realized who it was. "You're not Truth because you're Mischief. She giggled. "The one and only!" She lifted her hands in the air. "What are you doing here? Where's Darkin?" I asked. She giggled. "Isn't it obvious? I want you gone! And Darkin, well, let's just say I'm giving us a little time to chat." Mischief said. "What did you do?!" I exclaimed. "You know… Just trapped him in your mind." She giggled again. "What have you done!" I yelled.

"The orb wanted you dead, I just helped it. Once I kill you in here, I'll get control and we both get what we want!" I shook my head. "I won't allow it." Swords appeared in both of our hands. "I guess we'll just have to get going then." She said, "You're on!" She ran and I ran and our swords clashed which set both of us back. I gritted my teeth as the impact jolted through my arms. She smirked, spinning on her heel like it was a dance. I lunged again, desperately slashing downward, but she dodged it with ease. "You're gonna lose, you're gonna lose!!" She sang.

She sliced the blade toward my ribs, and I barely twisted away. "Give it up, Luna, you're already well on your way to breaking anyway. I mean, you've lost the only person who's ever actually loved you! He's gone because you were too weak." She sliced my face, causing it to bleed. "Face it, Luna. You've already lost." I hit my blade toward my leg, but she dodged. "No," I said. She giggled again. "No!? Poor little Luna. Always weak, pathetic, sad." She said mockingly. "You're not real!" I yelled. "I'm more real than you think! I'm the real you! I'm the emotion you hide behind your bright, pretty powers." I stopped fightin,g and she looked amused. "You finally realize that." I dropped my sword. "Yes," I mumbled. "I think you've finally helped me see."

She tilted her sword down. "You saved me the work." I laughed. "What's so funny?" She asked. "You think I'm weak, you have no idea how strong I truly am." I looked at my arms, which were glowing pink. I finally saw the truth, I was so much stronger than anybody could imagine, including myself. I was also glowing another color, something I'd never seen before, white. It was a hot pink and white mixed together. Mischief's face was full of shock, just pure shock. All my positive emotions that I had stood behind me. Joy, glee, love, empathy, trust, kindness, justice, and so much more. "We're here." They said putting their hand onto my shoulder. I was filled with all of it at that very moment. "That's how I know I can defeat you." I put my hands up and filled the air with a wave of pink/white energy that filled the entire room. Mischief screamed, was turned into stone, and then shattered into a million little pieces.
