Chapter 13 - Dream Magic

When Carlotta moved, the others around her also started to move.

Although Avery was Carlotta's classmate, her family, which was from a merchant background, was not small, allowing Avery to be exposed to many types of magic that were not taught in class.

At this moment, she took out a card and pointed it at Carlotta from a distance, causing Carlotta to feel the temperature around her drop, as if she had suddenly entered an ice cellar.

She knew this was a freezing card, typically used for food preservation. For Avery, who was still a first-level apprentice, using the freezing card in battle was a decent choice.

Although the temperature around her had dropped, it was not enough to affect Carlotta's movements. However, the others who had mastered different types of magic made Carlotta feel somewhat passive.

A male classmate on her left held his hands in a virtual embrace, and a blazing fireball immediately appeared in his arms. This person had mastered the relatively common fire magic.

He then pushed his hands forward, and the fireball suddenly flew towards Carlotta.

At the same time, from other directions, classmates who had mastered plant magic transformed a vine that crawled towards her like a snake.

Those who had mastered hardening magic turned the front part of their fists into hard wooden boards and swung their fists to strike.

Someone who had mastered shadow magic stepped on Carlotta's shadow, preventing her from moving.

The Caerwyn Academy was subtly referred to as the fifth academy, and the types of magic taught there were numerous, covering various aspects. Many of these magics were even difficult to come by in the outside world.

Even though these people were still first-level apprentices, their simultaneous attacks and the bizarre combination of magics made Carlotta extremely uncomfortable.

She originally wanted to dodge the incoming fireball, as its flight speed was slow and not hard to avoid.

However, because her shadow was being stepped on, she was momentarily unable to move and had no choice but to swing her rapier, stabbing the incoming fireball and causing it to explode in mid-air.

Then she stabbed her rapier into the ground, pinning the crawling vine, and immediately followed up by kicking away the person who had mastered hardening magic.

Of course, there were several other people attacking her, and someone who had mastered knight manuals approached her with a weapon.

Soren controlled a total of twelve students!

Facing these controlled students, Carlotta initially did not want to hurt anyone, but she soon realized that if she didn't, she would be the one getting hurt. Although she was already a second-level apprentice, these guys had the advantage in numbers!

At that moment, after clashing with a knight's sword using Rose Thorn, Carlotta decisively thrust her rapier forward, piercing the opponent's chest and causing them to scream and retreat.

These people were only being controlled; they could still feel pain.

Then Carlotta performed the Elven Butterfly Dance, forcefully breaking free from the predicament of being unable to move due to her shadow being stepped on.

Like a butterfly fluttering among flowers, she directly passed through the crowd.

The person who had been stepping on Carlotta's shadow was even thrown off balance by her movements and fell to the ground.

"Get out of my way!"

Carlotta swung her rapier as she moved forward. No matter who was blocking her way, as long as they posed an obstacle, she would mercilessly strike them down.

Both the Elven Butterfly Dance and Elven Phantom Sound were displayed to their fullest extent.

These first-level apprentices, who had extremely limited combat experience, could not hinder Carlotta's advance.

Accompanied by splashes of blood, one after another screamed and retreated, allowing Carlotta to successfully break out of the encirclement.

Their battle did not last long, but the commotion was significant. Strangely, there was no reaction from the other dormitories around, as if no one had heard the noises outside, which made Carlotta feel uneasy.

She knew that this phenomenon was definitely not normal.

Carlotta could only choose to leave the dormitory first, but when she reached the stairwell at the end of the dormitory, she couldn't help but stop.

"Mary," Carlotta looked at the person in front of her.

This was Soren's maid, and also the person closest to Soren in the academy.

Seeing this person, Carlotta couldn't help but look around, wondering where Soren was.

"Are you searching for Miss Carlisle?" Mary said calmly. "Don't waste your time. I'm more than capable of handling you, the unexpected variable, on my own."

She slowly stepped forward, her face showing no expression.

Carlotta's heart stirred. She thought that Soren probably didn't come personally not because she looked down on her, but because she was delayed by something, making it impossible for her to come.

This made her feel somewhat relieved, and then she focused her attention on Mary.

Looking at Mary, Carlotta felt a strange dizziness in her mind, almost falling asleep in her grogginess.

Not good, Mary was already attacking her!

Carlotta quickly activated her mana, forcing herself to snap out of it, and then suddenly lunged forward, swinging her rapier at Mary.

She had recognized the magic Mary had mastered, dream magic!

This magic could pull people into a dream, using the advantage of the dream world to defeat the opponent.

Often, the battle would continue for a long time, and the enemy wouldn't even know they were in a dream.

It was said that if dream magic was cultivated to a sufficiently powerful level, it could even turn virtual dreams into reality!

Mary naturally did not possess such abilities, but pulling people into a dream was no problem.

Carlotta also understood why the commotion from the earlier battle had not disturbed the people in the surrounding dormitories; they had likely been pulled into a deep dream by Mary, completely unaware of the outside world.

Transcendent beings who mastered dream magic had all their abilities in the construction of dreams and did not possess any combat skills themselves. Therefore, Carlotta's choice was to close the distance between them.

She rushed forward, and Rose Thorn gleamed with a cold light as it stabbed towards Mary, passing through her body. However, she did not feel the sensation of stabbing a person, as if she had only stabbed air.

"Although I am standing here, how do you know that I am really standing here?" Mary said unhurriedly.

Looking at Carlotta's sweet and lovely face, even in tense moments, she couldn't help but feel a bit of irritation in her heart.

She hated good-looking people because she herself was not good-looking.

Every time she saw a good-looking person, she couldn't help but secretly curse them, wishing they would be disfigured immediately.

But most of the time, she could only curse them in her heart and could not act on her dislike. However, today, she had the opportunity to act.
