Chapter 17 - Returning the Book

Amelia's assistance to Carlotta also sparked a desire in her to reciprocate.

Returning the lost book to her would be the best way to repay her kindness.

After all, the information provided by the system stated that the photo tucked inside the book was of great importance to Amelia.

After some thought, Carlotta decided not to beat around the bush. She directly took out the book and handed it to Amelia: "Miss Fenwick, this book must be yours, right? I only realized it was yours when I flipped through it recently and saw the photo tucked inside."

"This is..."

Amelia's blue eyes broadened in surprise as she instinctively took the book.

She never expected that the lost book would end up being returned to her by Carlotta.

Although she had seen Carlotta perform the Elven Knight Manual the previous night, it was a widely spread knight skill. While it wasn't easy for commoners to learn, she assumed Carlotta had learned it through other channels and didn't connect it to her lost book.

Carlotta continued, "I'm sorry, Miss Fenwick, I didn't return the book to you immediately because I didn't know there was a photo tucked in the back pages, so I didn't know who the owner was."

Amelia quickly flipped through the pages and found her photo. It was the last photo of her and her mother, who was still alive at the time.

Just seeing this photo, Amelia's eyes changed, filled with memories and a hint of melancholy.

She took the photo and said, "Miss White, thank you. This photo is really important to me."

She kept the photo but handed the book back to Carlotta.

"This is…" Carlotta was somewhat surprised.

Amelia smiled and said, "If I'm not mistaken, White, you learned the Elven Knight Manual from this book, right?"

Carlotta nodded, "That's right."

This made Amelia sigh. She hadn't lost the book for long, and in such a short time, Carlotta, without a mentor, had managed to master the skill just by reading the book.

She could even perform the second movement of The Twelve Echoes of Elven Steel, the Elven Phantom Sound. Such talent was truly remarkable.

Unfortunately, Carlotta had already chosen Card Magic as her main path and couldn't condense runes, limiting the potential of her Elven Knight Manual path.

Amelia said, "It seems you really like this knight manual, Miss White. Keep practicing it, and consider this book my reward to you."

"...Thank you, Miss Fenwick."

Carlotta took the book, feeling a mix of amusement and exasperation.

After all this, the book ended up back in her hands. What did her all-night copying of its contents count for?

Her diligence?

"Unfortunately, Miss White, you've already chosen Card Magic as your main path..." Amelia couldn't help but sighed again.

She truly believed Carlotta had a talent for the Elven Knight Manual Path. To master the Elven Phantom Sound in such a short time without it being her main focus was truly incredible.

She thought the Elven Knight Manual had a much higher ceiling than Card Magic, which was more about improving the quality of life.

If Carlotta had chosen the Elven Knight Manual as her main path, her future achievements could have been much greater. But unfortunately, once a path is chosen, it cannot be changed.

Carlotta could roughly guess what Amelia was thinking and couldn't help but chuckled inwardly.

Once a main path is chosen, it indeed cannot be changed. But who said she was like everyone else? While others could only condense one rune, she had already condensed two!

Both Card Magic and the Elven Knight Manual were her main paths.

At this moment, Amelia seemed to make a decision and said, "Miss White, in a few days, the Elf Knight Gathering will be held. I'll take you there."

She felt that Carlotta had helped her retrieve the crucial photo, and simply giving her the book on the Elven Knight Manual wasn't enough to repay her, even though Carlotta thought it was more than enough.

"Elf Knight Gathering?" Carlotta heard this term for the first time.

Amelia briefly explained, "The Elf Knight Gathering is essentially a gathering of people who are either main or minor in the Elven Knight Manual, where they exchange insights and experiences."

Whether it's magic, knight skills, or even alchemy, it's inevitable to encounter perplexing problems during the learning process.

Therefore, such gatherings are not uncommon. As a noble lady, Amelia had plenty of opportunities to attend such events.

Amelia said, "With your talent, Miss White, attending the Elf Knight Gathering a few times and listening to others' explanations of the Elven Knight Manual might help you quickly master the Elven Light."

The Elven Light is the third movement.

Carlotta already had the information provided by the system and knew the perfect way to train the Elven Knight Manual. But since Amelia had offered her kindness, she had no reason to refuse.

"Then I'll thank you in advance, Miss Fenwick."
