Chapter 12 - What was there to fear

Carlotta never expected that she would be attacked in her dormitory at Caerwyn Academy, especially in the middle of the night.

When she opened her eyes and saw the strange figure above her, she felt goosebumps all over her body. A strong chill spread from her feet to her entire body.

What is this?

Almost instinctively, Carlotta grabbed the Rose Thorn, this alchemical tool was placed on her bedside table, within easy reach.

A brilliant sword light then flashed in front of Carlotta, instantly splitting the strange figure above into two halves.

This strange figure seemed to have no combat ability. After being split in half, it immediately exploded and turned into purple-red light spots that shrank back to the desk. After landing on the desk, it retreated back into the magic book and hid inside.

Carlotta stared at the magic book, her face changing several times, emotions surging in her heart, and eventually, she couldn't help but utter a name.

"Soren Carlisle!"

This magic book was a gift from Soren. When she gave it to her, Carlotta felt grateful. But she never expected that this magic book would attack her in the middle of the night!

Although she didn't know what consequences the magic book's attack would bring once successful, it was definitely not a good thing.

"Wait, it's already past midnight!"

Carlotta immediately got out of bed, changed her clothes, and silently called the system.

Then, the new day's intelligence appeared in front of her.

[ 1: Amelia couldn't sleep because she couldn't find the lost book. The recorded elf Knight Manual was secondary; the important part was a page that contained photos of her and her deceased mother. That was very important to her.]

[ 2: Perri became the dog king of Ryan Street. Wherever she went, no dog dared to disobey. She had her eyes on Bram Vortiger and others. Whenever she saw this group, she would lead the dogs to bite them, causing Bram Vortiger and others a lot of headaches.]

[ 3: Soren didn't go home as usual today but stayed at the academy for the first time because only this distance could allow her to successfully use the master-servant magic. Although the last time she used the master-servant magic, a prisoner died by accident, it was enough for her to understand the correct usage of this ancient forbidden magic. She planned to turn several students she had already targeted into her most loyal servants through this magic. She believed everything could be accomplished silently. Those targeted by her were First-tier apprentices because the master-servant magic was not her main focus, and she could only control First-tier apprentices for now.]

There were only three pieces of intelligence today.

The first piece of intelligence made Carlotta pause.

The second piece surprised Carlotta.

The third piece made chills run down her spine.

Soren really wanted to forcibly turn her into a subservient servant, even in the academy, without hesitation. If it weren't for her recent advancement to a Second-tier apprentice, her life might have been trampled upon.

She couldn't understand why Soren dared to be so bold. This was undoubtedly illegal, but Soren still did it. Did she think nothing would happen?

Could the nobility really be so lawless?

While frightened, Carlotta was already dressed. She tightly held the Rose Thorn and opened the dormitory door, wanting to report the incident. She didn't know if reporting would help, but she couldn't pretend nothing happened. That evil magic book was still in her dormitory.

However, when she opened the door and saw the figures standing in the corridor, she fell silent.

They were all students of Caerwyn Academy. Some Carlotta knew, like her classmate Avery Clarke. Others she recognized from neighboring classes or the cafeteria. Of course, there were also some she didn't know.

In the middle of the night, these people didn't sleep but gathered here, all staring at her. Carlotta didn't need to guess to understand what was happening.

Soren didn't want to control just her. These people in front of her were the ones successfully controlled.

The failed control probably alerted Soren, which is why these successfully controlled people came.

So, what did Soren want to do? To prevent her from spreading the news about Soren mastering the ancient forbidden magic, did she want to silence her?

But why didn't Soren come herself? Was she too busy?

In a short time, various thoughts flashed through Carlotta's mind.

She took a deep breath and asked directly, "What do you want?"

Avery and the others didn't speak but approached, staring at her with cold eyes.

This atmosphere made Carlotta's scalp tingle.

She tightly held the Rose Thorn in her hand, gritted her teeth, and her magic power surged within her body.

If these people could be controlled by Soren, they were nothing more than First-tier apprentices. She was a Second-tier apprentice; what was there to fear?

Carlotta immediately took out the Lightness Card from her pocket and activated it, making her body feel lighter. Then, she rushed out, trying to break through the encirclement.
