After much torturing, Sargon was able to find out that the rogue was in fact associated with a royal.
He still had not given a name yet, but he felt he was on the way to revealing that.
He left his men to continue the questioning while he left to visit the kingdom of Ethron.
Princess Dezerae was expecting him.
When he arrived to the castle, he was greeted by Princess Dezerae's father, King Eron. The princess was not with him.
"Alpha Sargon, it is good to see you! You look well. Come this way. We have prepared a meal."
King Eron was an older man, his hair was white and grey and he was strong. He had a few scars on his face, remaining from battles he had in prior years.
He was a bit shorter than Sargon, but he feared no one. He would definitely have been a worthy opponent had he been in his prime.
The King had been a fair ruler for the most part. However, his daughter was a bit of an opportunist and lacked self-control when around men.
"Hello King Eron. It is god to see you. Where is your daughter?"
"Ahh, is that why you are here. You finally come to find yourself a bride?"
Sargon chuckled. "Not exactly but there is much to talk about."
"Very well, follow me." King Eron said as he placed his hand on Sargon's back, guiding him into the castle.
Sargon's guards followed closely behind. He traveled with his two best guards. They were quick shifter and fighters.
Sargon took no chances with anyone.
The inside of the castle was white with gold tapestry. Light beamed through the immaculate windows, creating a warmth in the cool season.
The white, golden, and silver marble floors created an echo with each step.
"Dezerae will meet us at the dinner hall. She is finishing up a meeting. She has been doing well in preparations to be queen". He said pridefully.
We have been able to form a few new alliances with whatever tactic she has been using. I feel she will be a great ruler.
Sargon wondered about her "tactics".
"Do you not meet with her about these tactics?"
"Well, I felt she should start making decisions on her own. She has been training since she was born. All that is left for me to do is help her find a husband. Like you, I think she is picky".
"Maybe she just enjoys being able to choose whomever she desires whenever she desires them."
"You may have a point Sargon. She is a bit different than her mother in that regard. Settling never really seemed to be Dezerae's goal. She grows bored quickly, but she is a good leader, so I try not to pressure her."
They both stopped at large, golden, double doors, as King Eron looked at Sargon with one hand on the door handle.
"Maybe you can change her mind." He said with a wink as he pushed the doors open.
Sargon walked into the dinning room without responding to Eron's comment.
The dining hall was empty, so they walked towards the end of the table and took their seats.
Drinks and appetizers had just begun to be served by maids walking in.
As soon as the maids left, Dezerae walked in switching her hips, dressed in an attractive read and black, Long, overlapping overcoat.
Her long, blond hair was pulled to one side of her as her loose curls fell down her breast.
Her radiant blue eyes focused directly on Sargon as she walked towards him.
"Well, hello Alpha Sargon. It is a pleasure to see you." She said as Sargon stood up to greet her. She reached for his hand to shake it as he raised it to his mouth and kissed it.
"It is good to see you too, Princess Dezerae."
"Oh, don't be so formal with me Sargon. Call me Dez." She winked.
"As you wish, Dez." He said.
"Hmm, anything I wish?" She smirked as she began to remove her coat.
Sargon assisted her to remove it and handed it off to one of the maids who had brought her water and wine.
Beneath her coat she wore a simple fitted long sleeve red dress that hugged her curves. She sat right next to Sargon.
"Well, now that you two have caught up and the rest of us are starving, let us eat!" King Eron interrupted.
The dinner was superb. The spread was so extensive, one could barely remember all it contained.
When dinner was complete, the glasses were refilled with wine and the plates were removed.
"So, Sargon, what brings you here?" King Eron asked.
Sargon thought for a moment before replying.
"Have you had any recent incidents with rogues in your kingdom. They are not regular rogues." Sargon asked.
Dezerae scoffed. "Rogues? You must be kidding. A rogue has not been able to penetrate this kingdom in years. I make sure of that." She grinned.
"Why? Is there something going on in your kingdom?" She leaned back in her chair and swirled the wine in her glass.
Sargon got the feeling that Dezerae was toying with him. She knew something, but Sargon kept a straight face.
"I have heard of these Rogues that have some kind of poison in their bite. They can disguise their scent, making it easy for them to walk freely in the kingdom and infiltrate the barriers effortlessly." He said.
"You seem to know a lot about these rogues you speak of. Did you encounter them personally?" Dezerae asked as her father quietly looked back and forth between her and Sargon.
"Something like that. Their poison is strong." He replied.
"That is interesting Sargon. Thankfully we have not encounter any, but if you need any assistance with anything I am eager to help." She said.
"Thank you, Dezerae." He replied.
"Now Sargon, I have a few things I would like to speak to you about. Will you follow me to my chamber?" She asked.
"Lead the way." He replied as everyone stood up.
"Well, Sargon, it was a pleasure to see you. Don't let Dez keep you up too long." He winked.
"Always a pleasure your majesty." Sargon replied.
Sargon and Dezerae left the dining room followed by Sargon's guards.
They walked down the hallway, passing several golden doors until they stopped at the last one.
Dezerae unlocked her door and pushed it open.
She grabbed Sargon's hand and guided him into her room.
"They can stay outside." She said, motioning her head towards his guards.
"You both may wait here." Sargon instructed as Dezerae closed the doors behind them.
