Agla anubhav mere apne ghar ka hai. Log kehte hain ki roohani taqatein sirf raat ke andhere mein aati hain, par mere saath jo hua wo dophar ke waqt, ekdum tezz roshni mein hua tha.
Us din dophar ka waqt tha aur ghar mein kaafi roshni thi. Main kitchen mein thi aur kitchen se nikal kar bahar wale kamre ki taraf aa rahi thi. Hamare ghar mein do tarah ke gate hain—ek lakdi wala aur ek jaali wala. Us waqt jaali wala gate bilkul band tha.
Jaise hi main kitchen ki gallary se bahar wale kamre ki taraf badhi, meri nazar seedhe jaali wale gate par padi. Maine apni aankhon se saaf dekha ki us band gate ke aar-paar ek lagbhag 6-foot unchi, gehre kaale rang ki shadow (saaya) kamre ke andar dakhil hui.
Wo shadow itni dark aur clear thi ki main ek pal ke liye thithak gayi. Maine dekha ki wo saaya kamre mein aaya aur tezi se wahan rakhe bed ke niche chala gaya. Sab kuch itna real tha ki mujhe laga shayad koi andar aa gaya hai.
Maine himmat jutayi aur turant bahar wale kamre mein gayi. Maine poore kamre ko acche se check kiya, yahan tak ki bed ke niche bhi jhaank kar dekha, par wahan koi nahi tha. Maine poore ghar mein dekha, par koi nhi dikha.
Samajh nahi aata ki wo 6-foot ka saaya band jaali ke gate se andar kaise aaya aur bed ke niche jaakar kahan gayab ho gaya. Us din mujhe ehsas hua ki parchaaiyan sirf raat mein peecha nahi karti, wo din ke ujale mein bhi hamare aas-paas hoti hain.

Ye mere ghar ki chhat par mere saath hua. Thand ke din thhe, aur meri aadat thi ki main raat ko khane ke baad chhat par walk karne jati thi. Us raat bhi main upar gayi, charon taraf sannaata tha aur halki thandak thi.
Main walk kar hi rahi thi ki meri nazar do ghar chhod kar ek dusri chhat par padi. Wahan ek ladki khadi thi. Wo mujhe saaf saaf dikh rahi thi—uski ek lambi aur moti choti thi jo aage latak rahi thi. Ajeeb baat ye thi ki wo bilkul kisi murti (statue) ki tarah khadi thi, uska chehra seedhe meri taraf tha aur wo bina hile-dule bas mujhe hi dekh rahi thi.
Maine socha shayad koi padosi hogi, isliye maine dhyan nahi diya aur apne round lagane shuru kiye.
Chhan-chhan... chhan-chhan...
Mai kanp gayi kyunki poori chhat par mere alawa koi nahi tha. Sabse ajeeb baat ye thi ki jab main walk karti, toh payal ki aawaz aati, aur jaise hi main rukkar piche dekhti, aawaz turant ruk jati. Wo cheez bilkul mere kadmon ke saath chal rahi thi!
Main itni zyada darr gayi ki bina piche mude seedhe niche ki taraf bhagi. Maine niche aakar turant main gate band kiya aur kambal mein dubak gayi. Us raat ke baad meri himmat nahi hui ki main agli raat ko akele chhat par walk karne jaaun. Us ladki se to mai sabse jada Dari thi.

Ye kissa tab ka hai jab main 8th class mein thi. Hum aksar sochte hain ki school jaisi bheed-bhad wali jagah par hum safe hain, lekin kabhi-kabhi wahan bhi kuch aisa hota hai jo dimaag hila deta hai.
Us din hamara games ka period tha. Hum sab bahar wale playground mein khel kar wapas aa rahe thhe. School ke andar dakhil hote hi ek bahut bada andaruni ground (inner ground) padta hai, jiske charon taraf border ki tarah corridor mein classes bani hui hain. Sab bache bina line ke, masti mein bhagte hue apni-apni class ki taraf ja rahe thhe.
Usi bheed mein, jab main us bade se maidan ko cross kar rahi thi, tab maine notice kiya ki mere bagal mein do parchaiyan chal rahi hain. Lekin wo zameen par bichi hui normal parchaiyan nahi thin—wo 3D shadows thin! Aisa lag raha tha jaise do adrishya sharir mere bilkul saath-saath kadam milakar chal rahe hon. Wo lagbhag ek-do minute tak lagatar mere bagal mein rahi, phir achanak wahan se gayab ho gayin.
Mujhe laga shayad mera veham tha, lekin darr tab laga jab main apni class ke bilkul kareeb pahunchi. Jab main class ke gate se sirf 5 meter door thi, tabhi achanak wahi dono shadows mere samne dobara aayi aur mujhse pehle tezi se class ke andar dakhil ho gayin!
Main wahin thithak kar ruk gayi. Class ke andar shor tha, bache thhe, sab kuch normal tha... or vaha koi shadow nhi thi.

Ye kissa tab ka hai jab main 7th class mein thi. Hum bache aksar school ke baare mein baatein karte thhe ki ye school purane qabristan par bana hai. Lekin bachpana tha, toh hum darr ke saath-saath maze bhi lete thhe. Ek din hamara games ka period tha aur hum sab playground mein thhe.
Khelte-khelte meri saheliyon ne bhuton ki baatein shuru kar di. Sham ka waqt hone wala tha aur dhundhalki (twilight) chha rahi thi. Maahol thoda ajeeb ho gaya tha. Hum sab playground ke ek kone mein piche ki taraf jaakar baith gaye, jahan pedon ki wajah se thoda andhera rehta tha.
Wahan meri ek saheli ne ek bahut badi galti kar di. Aksar bade-buzurg kehte hain ki ladkiyon ko sham ke waqt aur sunsaan jagahon par apne baal khol kar nahi ghumna chahiye, kyunki buri shaktiyan unki taraf turant akarshit (attract) hoti hain. Meri us friend ne un baaton ka mazaak udaya aur apne baal poore khol liye. Wo wahin us sunsaan kone mein baal khol kar ghumne lagi aur hum bhuton ke kisse sunate rahe.
Lekin kuch hi der mein sab kuch badal gaya.
Agla din aaya, par wo school nahi aayi. Humein pata chala ki uski tabiyat bahut zyada kharab ho gayi hai. Uske sir ka dard do dinon tak lagatar bana raha aur use tez bukhar bhi aa gaya. Us din ke baad se hum sab ne samajh liya ki school ke us kone mein kuch toh aisa hai jo humein wahan jaane se rokta hai. Hum bache thhe, par wo darr aaj bhi yaad hai ki kaise ek chhoti si galti se koi cheez aapke saath ghar tak ja sakti hai.

Experience (8): The Daylight Intruder
People often say that spirits only wander in the dead of night, but my most vivid encounter happened in the bright afternoon sun. I was coming out of the kitchen towards the outer room. Our house has two gates—a wooden one and a mesh (jaali) gate. The mesh gate was securely locked.
As I walked through the gallery, I saw it clearly. A 6-foot-tall, pitch-black shadow glided right through the locked mesh gate. It didn't open the door; it passed through the metal wires as if they didn't exist. The shadow was so solid and dark that I froze. It moved swiftly across the room and slid right under the bed.
I gathered my courage and rushed into the room, checking every corner and looking under the bed. There was nothing. No person, no shadow, just empty space. How did a 6-foot shadow enter a locked house in broad daylight and vanish into thin air? That day I learned that shadows don't just follow us at night; they walk beside us even in the glare of the sun.
Experience (9): The Statue on the Roof
During a cold winter night, I went up to the terrace for my usual post-dinner walk. The air was silent and crisp. As I paced around, my eyes fell on a terrace two houses away. A girl was standing there, perfectly still. She had a long, thick braid resting over her shoulder.
What made my skin crawl was her posture. She stood like a statue, her face turned directly towards me, staring without blinking. I ignored her at first, thinking she was just a neighbor. I completed one round, then two... but she didn't move an inch. I decided to stare back at her, hoping she'd feel uncomfortable and leave. She didn't. She remained frozen, watching me.
Suddenly, I heard it. Chhan-chhan... chhan-chhan... The sound of anklets (Payal) right behind me.
I was the only one on the roof. Every time I walked, the sound followed. When I stopped to look back, the sound stopped instantly. Something was matching my footsteps perfectly. I didn't look back again; I bolted downstairs, locked the main door, and hid under my blanket. I never went for a solo night walk on that terrace again.
Experience (10): The 3D Shadows at School
In 8th grade, I realized that even a crowded school isn't safe from the unexplained. We were returning from our games period, running through the inner courtyard towards our classes.
In the middle of the crowd, I noticed two shadows walking beside me. But these weren't flat shadows on the ground; they were 3D shadows. It felt like two invisible bodies were walking in perfect sync with me. They stayed by my side for a full minute before vanishing.
I tried to shrug it off as a hallucination, but the real terror struck when I reached my classroom. Just 5 meters from the door, those two shadows reappeared out of nowhere and darted into the classroom ahead of me! I stopped dead in my tracks, but inside the room, everything was normal. The students were shouting and playing, and the shadows were nowhere to be seen.
Experience (11): The Girl with the Open Hair
Our school was rumored to be built on an old graveyard. During 7th grade, my friends and I were sitting in a dark, secluded corner of the playground under the trees, sharing ghost stories at twilight.
One of my friends mocked the old superstition that girls shouldn't keep their hair open during sunset in lonely places. She untied her hair and began walking around that haunted corner, laughing at our fears.
Within minutes, her laughter died. She complained of a sudden, blinding headache. Her face turned pale, and she felt so heavy she could barely walk. She didn't come to school the next day. We later found out she had a high fever and a headache that lasted for days. That day we realized that some boundaries are not meant to be crossed, and sometimes, a small mistake can lead to something following you all the way home.
