Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Gu Yanshi's beautiful, smiling face appeared before him, her fair cheeks faintly flushed pink.

"Hello, sir. I hope you had a wonderful experience! This is your purchase invoice, and the remaining money has been placed back into the envelope in your pocket. Since you purchased our company's highest-end product, you will automatically receive a gift upon entering the game. In addition, your product number will be entered into our company's lottery event, where tens of millions in rewards are being given back to players."

Her voice was still as gentle and sweet as ever.

If only such a gentle and beautiful woman could be my girlfriend, Mo Yichen thought, though he didn't dare say it aloud.

He took the invoice from her—and nearly collapsed after just one glance.

"Uh… miss," he said hesitantly, "this health pod costs 12,000 yuan. Isn't the high-end helmet supposed to be 7,000 yuan?"

He had no job, still needed to pay rent, and still had to eat. That 15,000 yuan was supposed to support him until he found his next job. And now—12,000 was gone just like that.

"Sir, please rest assured," the woman replied with a calm smile. "Although the health pod is more expensive, it is absolutely worth the price. Once you enter the game, you'll realize it offers benefits that ordinary helmets simply cannot compare to."

In her heart, she thought: This guy is clearly heartbroken over the money. But the order has already been placed, and the headquarters is probably already preparing the shipment. There's no way he can cancel now.

Despite her thoughts, her expression remained as sweet and professional as ever.

However, she underestimated Mo Yichen.

Though he was aching inside, he would never go back on his word and embarrass himself. Instead, he thought: Since the money's already spent, I might as well squeeze out as many benefits as possible.

"Miss," Mo Yichen said with a polite smile, "since I bought your top-tier product, I should be allowed to ask questions if I don't understand something, right? Also, VIP users should have some advantages over ordinary users—like gift packs or bonuses?"

His old business negotiation instincts kicked in immediately.

"Sir, this is my phone number—1389875****. If you have any questions about the equipment, you can contact me anytime. As for game items, we don't distribute them directly. To maintain game balance, any gifts are random, and even we don't know what they'll be."

She didn't realize she had already entered Mo Yichen's negotiation mode—and had unknowingly handed over her phone number.

"Then I don't quite understand," Mo Yichen continued. "The health pod is far more expensive than the advanced helmet. If there's no clear advantage, where does the price difference come from? If you could help me get some additional benefits, I'd be satisfied. Otherwise… I might consider switching back to a helmet."

As he spoke, Mo Yichen quickly took out his phone and saved her number, preparing for the next stage—persistent pressure.

After all, becoming a business manager wasn't for nothing. Maximizing profit was a basic negotiation skill.

He had already calculated that it would be impossible to actually exchange the health pod for a helmet. This was simply a way to probe the other party's bottom line. The outcome of this negotiation was already predictable.

He looked so polite at first, Lin Zihan thought helplessly. And now he's showing his true colors.

She was only twenty years old, still a college student working part-time as an intern. Lacking experience, she had been so excited about closing a big sale that she immediately contacted headquarters to ship the product.

She didn't care much about money—but she cared deeply about face.

After hesitating for a moment, Lin Zihan took out her phone and made a call.

After a few beeps, the line connected.

"Hello, miss. What's your order?" The voice on the other end was respectful.

"Uncle Gu, hello. A friend of mine here purchased a health pod."

She took the invoice from Mo Yichen and glanced at it.

"The number is TY69889ERC4865. Since he's a good friend, could you help arrange some extra equipment?"

She lied shamelessly—for the sake of dignity.

"Miss, that will be very difficult," Uncle Gu replied awkwardly. "President Xin has repeatedly emphasized that we cannot distribute equipment freely, or it will disrupt game balance…"

"Uncle Gu, please help me," she pleaded softly. "Just this once. I promise it won't become a precedent. He really is a good friend…"

Her spoiled tone was devastatingly effective. Even Mo Yichen, standing nearby, almost surrendered and considered saying he didn't want the gift anymore.

"All right, all right," Uncle Gu sighed. "I'll make arrangements. Fax me a copy of the invoice—this is the only time. You know Fengxu is in simultaneous global beta. Every country is watching closely. No one can mess around. I'll think of something."

"Thank you, Uncle Gu! I knew you cared about me the most."

She hung up happily.

"Wait," Uncle Gu added quickly. "President Xin asked about you today. He told you to return to headquarters as soon as possible. Stop doing promotional experience work—what you need to learn is management."

"Okay, okay. I'll go back tomorrow. The public beta is about to start anyway, and I need to prepare to enter the game. Goodbye!"

After hanging up, Lin Zihan turned to Mo Yichen and said,

"Your request can be met—but I can't guarantee what you'll receive. Are you satisfied now?"
