Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Drastic turn

Liya had always been a vibrant and creative soul, with a passion for art that knew no bounds. She was a talented young woman, with a bright future ahead of her. But all of that changed in an instant.

Liya was a student at the prestigious Lagos University, where she was pursuing a degree in Fine Arts. She was in her final year, and her talent had already begun to gain recognition. Her paintings were bold and expressive, a reflection of her inner world.

But on a fateful day, Liya was involved in a tragic accident on campus. She was hit by a car, and her head struck the pavement with a sickening thud. She was rushed to the hospital, where she lay in a coma for several days.

When Liya finally woke up, she was a different person. The accident had left her with a severe case of amnesia, and she couldn't remember anything about her past. Her memories of her family, her friends, her art - all of it was gone.

Akira, Liya's mother, was thousands of miles away, living a separate life. She had left Liya's father years ago, and had cut off all contact with her daughter. She was a successful businesswoman, with a sharp tongue and a quick wit. But beneath her polished exterior, Akira was a complex and troubled woman, driven by a deep-seated need for control.

As Liya began to recover physically, she started to feel a strange sense of emptiness. She couldn't remember why she had loved art so much, or what had inspired her to create. Her passion for painting, her sense of purpose - all of it was gone.

Liya's lecturers and friends came to visit her, trying to help her remember. They brought her old sketchbooks and paintings, hoping to spark something. But Liya felt nothing. The colors, the textures, the emotions - they all seemed dull and meaningless.

Akira, meanwhile, had been tracking Liya's progress from afar. She had been keeping tabs on her daughter's life, even though they hadn't spoken in years. And when she heard about the accident, she knew she had to act fast.

Akira arrived at the hospital, her eyes fixed intently on Liya's face. She was determined to take control of her daughter's life, to make sure she didn't make the same mistakes she had made. But as she looked at Liya, she saw a stranger staring back at her.

"Who are you?" Liya asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Akira's eyes narrowed. This was not the daughter she had left behind. This was a fragile, broken thing. And Akira was determined to make her whole again, no matter what it took, Akira's abandonment had left a deep scar on Liya's life. When she was just a teenager, Akira had walked out on her and her father, leaving them to fudge through life on their own. Liya had been left to deal with the emotional fallout, struggling to understand why her mother had chosen to leave.

Things only got tougher when Liya's father passed away suddenly, leaving her all alone in the world. She had been forced to drop out of school and work multiple jobs just to make ends meet. But Liya was determined to make a better life for herself, and she had worked hard to save up enough money to return to school.

She had enrolled in the University of Lagos, determined to pursue her passion for art. But it was tough, and Liya had to rely on her own resourcefulness to get by. She had started selling her art on the streets, using her talent to make ends meet. It wasn't easy, but Liya was determined to make it work.

Years went by, and Liya's art began to gain recognition. She started selling her pieces to local galleries and collectors, and slowly but surely, she began to make a name for herself in the art world. She was just starting to get on her feet when she met Amelessa, a kind-hearted woman who would become her best friend and confidante.

Amelessa had been a huge support to Liya, helping her navigate the ups and downs of life as an artist. Together, they had built a community of friends and fellow artists, a tribe that had become like family to Liya.

But despite her success, Liya's past still lingered, a constant reminder of the mother who had abandoned her. She had tried to push the memories away, to focus on the present and the future. But the wound still ran deep, and Liya couldn't help but wonder what had driven Akira to leave her behind.

As Liya's star continued to rise, Akira was watching from the shadows, her eyes fixed intently on her daughter's success. She was proud of Liya, proud of the strong and talented woman she had become. But Akira knew she didn't deserve any credit, not after abandoning her daughter the way she had.

And now, Akira was planning to make her move, to swoop in and take control of Liya's life once again. She was convinced that she was doing what was best for her daughter, but Liya was about to find out that Akira's return would change everything.
