"Yeah, so unfortunately, we can't seal the deal with your company this time," Sibyl stated over the phone.
Grey felt completely ridiculous. "But Evelin's just a regular employee. Why would your firm cancel the investment because she quit?"
The cynical chuckle from the other end spoke volumes. "Looks like Mr. Ford truly has no clue what Mrs. Ford brings to the table."
Grey stared at his phone, totally confused by Sibyl's parting comment.
Evelin? What worth could she possibly hold? With that question nagging him, he dialed Evelin and demanded she return to the office.

Evelin's POV
Though I didn't want to come back, I figured I shouldn't stir up trouble before cutting all ties with Grey permanently, so I headed to the company.
The second he spotted me, Grey immediately attacked. "Your resignation caused Northfield Investments to back out. Did you scheme with them to sabotage me?"
