Year 2003

On February 3rd, the world changed forever.

No one realized it then—how could they?

The sky split open across twenty-four points around the globe, and colossal Gates emerged, shimmering with impossible light. Each one pulsed with power, leading to unknown realms that defied all logic.

At first, humanity called them miracles. Later, they named them Dungeons.

Inside those realms lay monsters straight out of legends—beasts that should have only existed in nightmares. Yet alongside the danger came unimaginable wealth: rare minerals, new energy sources, and materials beyond scientific understanding.

Greed soon followed discovery.

Nations waged wars—many, many wars—battles so fierce they nearly escalated into a global nuclear conflict. Humanity stood on the edge of annihilation, all for control of the Dungeons.

And while the world fought… something else was happening.

Something far away, and far more terrifying.

On September 4th, 2006, NASA detected a strange anomaly in space. A foreign object, moving against the Sun's gravitational pull, drifted through the Solar System—visiting each planet, one by one, as if studying them.

The scientists sounded alarms, warning the world's leaders. But the politicians were too busy bleeding each other for Dungeon resources and now the world was to divide to come together and face the unknown wandering celestial body.

That was their first and greatest mistake.

On October 11th, 2006—the object arrived at Earth.

This time, it didn't just observe.

It landed.

Nukes were fired but it didn't stop anything

Its descent ended deep within the Amazon rainforest, the heart of the world's oldest mystery. Soon after, a thick violet smoke—a miasma unlike anything ever seen—began to spread from the impact site.

Everything the smoke touched was transformed.

Animals, plants, even humans… all twisted into grotesque, monstrous parodies of life. The unlucky simply perished. The rest became nightmares given form.

At first, the monsters couldn't survive long outside the smoke, but the miasma kept spreading—faster and faster.

Governments panicked. Missiles, bombs, even nuclear warheads were launched, but nothing stopped the encroaching haze. Humanity's greatest weapons became meaningless.

Then came the discovery.

The miasma couldn't enter the Dungeons.

The same portals that had once torn nations apart now became humanity's only chance at survival.

But salvation came with its own hell. The Dungeons were no refuge—they were killing fields filled with horrors that ignored modern firepower. Bullets, tanks, and missiles barely scratched the stronger monsters.

Trapped between the choking miasma and the terrors within the Dungeons, humanity stood at the brink of extinction.

Until… something changed.

Someone changed.

The first Awakened appeared.

Humans discovered a way to gain supernatural powers within the Dungeons—a process they called Awakening.

Those who awakened were known as Ascendants, beings who transcended human limits, wielding Soul Weapons and supernatural powers capable of slaying the Dungeon monsters.

Even more remarkably, Ascendants could survive in the violet miasma for short periods of time.

And thus began humanity's counterattack.

At first, their goal was simple—conquer the Dungeons. But as they delved deeper, the Ascendants uncovered secrets that reshaped everything they thought they knew.

Not all Ascendants were born for battle. Some possessed powers that enhanced their intelligence and understanding. The more Dungeons humanity conquered, the more knowledge they unearthed—and within that knowledge lay a hope, a way to reclaim the world from the miasma.

They discovered ancient blueprints for a mysterious device—one capable of creating a protected zone, a barrier similar to the Dungeons themselves. This barrier could purify the miasma and restore the world.

With twenty-four of these devices, all of Earth could be shielded. But there was a catch—each device required a special core called a Codex, and every Dungeon contained only one Codex hidden in its deepest layer.

To take back the planet, humanity needed to conquer all twenty-four Dungeons, retrieve every Codex, and activate the devices that would become their final hope.

By then, the old governments had long collapsed.

A new order rose from the ranks of the Ascendants, united under a single purpose:

Conquer the Dungeons. Obtain the Codexes. Build the shields. Purify the Earth.

But nothing was easy.

Because humanity was not the only one evolving.

The monsters outside the Dungeons began to change—to adapt.

Even the corrupted humans, those who had survived the miasma, transformed into something else entirely. They were called Deviants.

They looked human, but their eyes told another story—white sclera turned pitch black, and their pupils glowed an eerie violet. Most Deviants were stronger than normal humans, and some even awakened powers of their own. Their goal was singular and terrifying: to corrupt what remained of humanity.

Like the miasma itself, they couldn't enter the Dungeons, but—like the Awakened—they could survive outside the miasma for short periods of time.

And thus began the endless competition for survival.

Centuries of bloodshed followed.

Humanity conquered twelve of the twenty-four Dungeons, retrieving twelve Codexes. With them, they constructed the purification devices—massive towers that generated protective zones.

They called these devices Pillars.

Each Pillar created a vast sanctuary where humans could live without fear of the miasma. The most powerful Ascendants were assigned to guard them, and soon, these warriors became known as the Pillars of Humanity—the living symbols of civilization's survival.

Within these protected zones, humanity built a new world—a civilization where science and magic coexisted.

And then came another miracle.

The children born within these safe havens possessed something unique—the natural ability to Awaken. The more Pillars humanity built, the more naturally Awakened were born.

To nurture them, academies were founded across the new world—training grounds for future heroes who would one day fulfill humanity's dream:

To reclaim the Earth, destroy the Deviants, and end the Age of Miasma once and for all.
