Chapter 6 - Chapter 5: Can't Remember?

Wtf was happening was my thought as Arthur and Vice Principal David clashed.

Looking up, I could see the clouds churning as if a storm was about to sweep through everything.

And looking back at them, I could feel the temperature rising steadily as if a firestorm was imminent.

Looking at David was like looking at a storm filled with countless bolts of lightning.

Looking at Arthur was like looking at the sun itself — your eyes would burn if you looked at it for too long.

All of this strangely gave me just one feeling: "excitement."

Could people really become so strong here?

It was so magical.

The students started retreating as they had shocked and baffled expressions, not understanding what was going on.

Couldn't blame them — even I could only vaguely guess what was happening.

Most probably the family had detected Asher's death, or at least that something had happened to him, and Arthur came here to confirm the situation.

I could see the staff having troubled expressions as they didn't know what to do!

Some guards were here and they conjured different weapons, but no one moved to help or stop Arthur.

They just kept watching.

They can't be blamed though. This was the true heir to the Crimson family — one wrong move and their jobs would be the least of their worries.

Although jobs were important, life was even more important. Plus, they didn't get any orders, so they decisively decided to become spectators.

So in this situation, only one person could do something and stop this from escalating.

Of course, that one person was me.

Hehehe.

I couldn't help but giggle silently in my mind.

This feels so amazing.

Like I was some protagonist of a B-list novel written by an author who only wrote 3 chapters of smut, and everyone on a certain Discord server — especially an annoying young-in-body, old-at-heart granny — started calling him a smut writer.

It was only 3 chapters out of 62, 3 f*cking chapters.

F*ck you, Sofi/Somory.

A certain protagonist felt really great cursing the annoying woman.

Anyways, I heard Arthur's low voice as he seemed like he had had enough.

"I said, get out of my way."

Damn, that guy is really pissed.

General POV.

Arthur's sword ignited with crimson flames as the invisible barrier started to somehow burn.

Right then he and everyone there heard a cough. It was very clear and came from the person in front of the dungeon gate who was responsible for this whole situation.

Asher.

Arthur looked back, same as David, only to see Asher coming toward them.

Asher opened his mouth as he said, "Brother, I have something to say to you."

"What is it?" Arthur asked as he turned to Asher, a question in his eyes.

"I think you might have had a misunderstanding."

Arthur frowned as he turned his head, looking at Asher with a skeptical expression.

"What do you mean?"

"That guy," Asher pointed at the frightened white-haired boy behind David, "is not the guy who attacked me… I think? Probably!"

Arthur's frown deepened as he glared at Asher, making the latter flinch.

The crimson flames died down as he silently pulled out his sword from the barrier.

"What do you mean probably?" he asked, glaring at Asher.

"Well…" Asher, looking awkward, scratched his head, looking foolish.

"The thing is… I kinda forgot, or more like I can't remember what exactly happened, so…"

Arthur and David both were puzzled. Both of them had noticed how Asher and the white-haired boy looked at each other, and although there wasn't any evidence, they were experienced enough to realize something had happened between them. Also, as 5th and 6th Grade Ascendants, their intuition was strong enough to make some judgments.

Arthur gave his brother a deep look. Asher didn't flinch this time as he looked straight back at Arthur. The atmosphere became very delicate as both brothers stared at each other.

Arthur then looked up, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. As he opened his eyes, they were calm.

Turning around, he gave the white-haired boy a look.

David hadn't dispelled the barrier as he eyed Arthur, not expecting any more moves but still cautious.

Then Arthur looked at him and spoke.

"As the heir to the Crimson family, I formally request an investigation of this matter. Mr. Vice Principal, I hope you can get to the bottom of this matter and give the Crimson family an appropriate explanation."

"We will do our best and investigate thoroughly into this matter."

Arthur nodded. Then, turning around, he looked at Asher. Looking at his half-naked brother, he sighed and gave him his overcoat.

"Let's go."

Asher, following behind him, started leaving.

As they walked, suddenly Asher said:

"Anyways brother, why are you at the capital again? Aren't you supposed to be with father, helping him manage the territory?

Also… is father here too?"

"…Shut up."

"Ohhh… ummm… okay."

Looking at both the brothers leaving, David felt glad at least the worst didn't happen.

The staff came to him, asking:

"Sir, what do we do now?"

David gave them a glance and said:

"Proceed as usual. Check for any injuries and record their statements. I want all of their statements, especially regarding Asher."

"Ok sir."

The white-haired boy gazed at the departing brothers, his face still pale and his eyes filled with complicated emotions.

Suddenly someone put a hand on his shoulder and called out:

"Kevin."

Turning around, he saw a girl his age with aqua-colored hair and narrowed eyes looking at him questioningly.

Before he could say anything, however, Vice Principal David said to the girl:

"Miss Snowheart, please give your statement and don't speak with Mr. Kevin.

And Mr. Kevin, please come with me."

She nodded, as did Kevin. Both followed orders without asking any questions.

David nodded, then looked back at the road where the siblings had walked to.

He couldn't help but sigh in exhaustion.

Although he could understand why Arthur acted so rashly, it was still…

And then there was Asher. David didn't know if the kid had really lost his memory and couldn't remember what happened, or if he said it so the situation wouldn't escalate.

Whatever it was, they had to do a thorough investigation and get to the bottom of this matter.

For that, he first had to inform the Headmaster of everything that happened here tonight.
