THIRD PERSON P.O.V
All the alphas left the reception area and went towards the meeting room. The Lunas stayed in the main hall to socialize with each other, and because the meetings tended to be too serious or violent. When Leon came with his father last time he also stayed in the main hall.
The door to the meeting hall opened, showing an enormous room. At the centre was a large wooden table, surrounded by black office chairs that looked quite luxurious.
There were plaques on the tables in front of each chair, the plaques had each of the alphas' packs name on them.
At the very end of the table, there were the seats for the seven council members that were managing this event. The council members were already seated on their designated seats, each and everyone of their faces neutral and conveying no emotions on their faces.
All the alphas went to sit on their designated positions. Their assistants stood either beside them or behind their alphas, as for jade, she chose to sit beside Leon to show her support.
As they sat down, some of the alphas sneaked glances at each other. Some just had a blank expression on their faces.
There was silence for a moment, though it felt like hours for Leon, who felt a lot of pressure but schooled his expression. If he could not even do that, then he was an embarrassment to the thorn shade pack.
After what felt like an eternity, the council member that was sitting in the middle of the other six finally stood up. His eyes scanned over all the present alphas as he announced.
"Greetings to all of you that have arrived from different parts of the region. My name is councilman Edward, and the council and the alpha king admires your dedication. And so, with that taken care of let's go to our next agenda."
He turned his head to another council member, who promptly stood up and said, "As for the growth of the combat ability of the werewolves of this region has been on a steady rise."
The alphas present showed a similar look of pride on their faces. He continued, "There has been an unusual decrease in rouge activity, it is suspicious and we encourage all the alphas to tighten their defences and be vigilant."
Leon, hearing those words was surprised, and went deep in thought as the councilman continued, "Though this may pose little importance as there has been sign of movement from the vampires towards our territories-"
"I thought we signed a peace treaty with them to keep from the bloodshed." An alpha interrupted
"I also thought that was the case, maybe they have grown tired of keeping it that way." Another alpha sneered and added, the other alphas agreed with him.
The councilman continued calmly "As I said, they were only signs of movement. They are not significant enough to go and look for trouble with their race as a whole."
Another council member added "So we came to the conclusion that we must remain vigilant of their movements, while raising our strength in case any problem arises."
Leon noticed some of the other alphas did not look happy at that conclusion.
One of the alphas said with a mocking tone, "So you're saying we should stay put like sitting ducks for those mosquitoes."
"No you dumb fuck. Are you so daft that you did not hear him say that we should prepare, or maybe your so stupid that you expect us to cause unnecessary trouble over such a small thing." Another alpha replied, and honestly Leon supported his remark. Though he could admit that he could have been a little more subtle.
Incensed, the alpha slammed his hands on the table as he shouted, "DON'T YOU FUCKING TALK TO ME LIKE THAT, YOU PISS FOR BRAINS!!!"
The other alpha also stood up, eyes glowing as he growled "CAUSE NOT EVERYONE IS AS STUPID AS YOU DIPSHIT!!!"
The meeting was starting to get rowdy as different alphas were having heated arguments, though there were some that manage to keep their shit together like Leon, Martin and Derek along with some other alphas.
Then everyone heard a loud growl from councilman Edward. The whole meeting hall suddenly froze, the assistants bowed their heads low due to the pressure. Leon turned his gaze towards jade for a brief moment, then all eyes turned to look at councilman Edward.
His gaze was threatening as his gaze moved slowly across all alphas, he then said with a threatening voice, "All if you should SHUT UP!!! This matter has already been addressed between the council members, and we are just informing you of the changes that would take place. The alpha king has agreed with the councils decision, and his orders are to be carried out IMMEDIATELY!!!!"
The atmosphere was so thick, you could cut it with a knife. Gradually all the alphas calmed down.
Councilman Edward, seeing as everyone calmed down, patted down his slightly ruffled clothes. He then continued, "Now that everything is taken care of… Let us continue with our remaining agendas…"
After an exhausting five hour continuation of the meeting, everyone was dead tired. After finalizing everything, the meeting was adjourned.
As the meeting ended, everyone came out of the meeting hall with eyebags from stress, both the alphas and their assistants. They were either grumbling or had kept mute because of exhaustion. No one bothered to keep up appearances because they were too tired.
Most of the alphas expression soon changed as soon as they came face to face with their Lunas. Most went toward their Lunas to attract pity and curry favour with their wives.
LEON P.O.V
I stood outside and watched as all the mushy stuff happened all around me, and then the dull ache in my chest grew bigger. Raven, now awoken kept filling my mind with rants about their mate.
I was completely dulled to my surroundings because of his ranting, I didn't notice someone approaching until they tapped my shoulder.
I turned my head and saw that it was our handsome mate. Our mate introduced himself,
"Good evening, my name is Logan the alpha of the Gale heart pack"
I returned his greeting with a smile, "Good evening, I'm Leon from the thorn shade pack."
He then replied "I wonder if we could talk privately." He then looked towards Jade. I turned my head towards Jade and she looked like she got the message, she complied with my wishes and left towards the car with confusion written on her face.
Logan then turned to me and said, "Can we move to a more secluded area?" I agreed, and we moved to a more secluded place in the garden were no one could see us.
Then there was an awkward silence, of which he broke the silence by saying
"So...Were mates huh…" So I replied with the same awkwardness, "Yeah…"
After looking at each other for a while, he closed his eyes. He looked like he was thinking about something important. It didn't make sense to me, I mean what was there to think about… We were fated by the moon goddess herself.
He then exhaled as he said with my eyes still trained on him, "Fuck...Listen, I don't think we can do this." As I heard that I felt my heart drop and my wolf wince in pain. With a shaking voice I asked him,
"W-what do y-you mean?"
Logan sighed and said "We can't be mates, we are both the alphas of two different territories, It does not make sense for two alphas to be together. What about the problem of having children, much less about choosing a successor."
I wanted to find a way to get him to stop talking, and to stop the increasing pain in my chest. I wanted to refute him, to tell him we can still be together. As if something was tied around my mouth, the only thing I could do was to stare at him like the idiot I was
Much to my agony, Logan still continued, "I'm even surprised that you waited all this time for a mate. Trust me, I am so sorry. But I've already marked another as my mate."
Crushed, I said, "You mean…" He nodded in affirmation as he replied, "Yes, the woman you saw is my Luna, and she will be the mother to my children who will inherit the pack from me"
He said all this while looking at me dead in the eye, my wolf howled in both intense pain and sorrow. I imagined how I met my mate would be a wonderful event in my life. MY PARENTS and every one mated told me how beautiful it would be, to be with your other half. And here he was, rejecting me.
Ignoring the intense pain in my chest, I asked him in a small voice, "If you're going to reject me, can I at least kiss my mate one last time?"
