After a while of resting, I woke up and looked around. Seems like the first game ended, and all that was left was the aftermath. I'm certain that at least one third of the people here failed the game and paid the penalty.
"Gyungho!"
A familiar voice came from behind me, I stood up and turned around. I yawned, noting down the situations I experienced, everything is considered important.
"Chin-hae, how are you doing? Who were you with?"
"I'm alright, after you left, I managed to join a small group of people and we found a safe zone."
I nodded, looking up and down at him. The once so fancy man that I knew was nothing more than a bum now. I shook my head, I shouldn't be judging him, especially after that game too…
Chin-hae looked at me then handed over a bag. I took the bag, opening it up to check the inside of it.
"What is this?"
Chin-hae smiled at me and then proudly spoke.
"It's food! I was fighting with the crowd to get some supplies."
Different unlabled cans could be seen, right non-caned food would be spoiled pretty soon. This kid… I smiled, it's not like the supply is infinte, he did a good thing and I appreciate it. Still, I have to find a better food source for the both of us.
Ah right, I almost forgot something.
"Chin-hae, have you leveled up your stats yet? Everyone here should've recieved the system after the first game."
The zoned out man looked at me confused before replying.
"Is it the white stat screen? I spent half of my coins on stamina and strength!"
I looked at him in shock. Does he not know how money works?! The currency might be different but that doesn't mean it's worthless.
"You should've saved some incase we need it."
He laughed, scratching the back of his head, looking like a total idiot. I sighed, I guess it'll be alright since I still have quite a bit of coins thanks to the system and the first game.
Even after the horrific game, everyone was still arguing loudly. I looked over to the crowd that's causing all the noise. I handed the bag back to Chin-hae and went to the crowd of people.
When I got closer, I threw myself into the swarm of people. It was so packed I could barely see anything! This is a horrible idea… Screams and shouts were heard clearly. As I was trying to pass through the noisy crowd of people fighting for supplies, getting closer to the front line, I fell down onto the ground, now trying to crawl pass them.
As I got out of the food source fight, a woman figure walked and stood in front of me, thinking it was just some random lady about to participate in the fight, I looked up. To my surprised, it was her.
"Oh? And who do we have here?"
The woman laughed. She was the same lady that silenced the people before the game started.
"Thought I was some random person didn't you?"
Before I could even reply, she kneeled down to the position I was in and continued speaking.
"I've heard from other actors that you defeated the game by yourself and saved everyone, am I right?"
Finally, she stopped talking and gave me a chance to reply. I gulped, thinking of an answer to give her. She seemed like a person that I shouldn't mess with.
As I stood in silence, she walked over to me, her arm around my shoulder, leaning in. I looked over to the woman. She began to whisper.
"Pretty impressive of you, Gyungho."
Her words sent chills down my spine, I took her arm off and kept distance. After I moved a bit further away from her, the woman laughed.
"Are you scared of me, Gyungho? Were the rumors not true?"
"Answer me, please~?"
That sweet voice is making my body shiver, what is her problem? She paused a bit. Her sharps eyes glaring at me. The woman let out a sigh and began to talk.
"Seems like I've been speaking to liars then…"
After the sentence was said, she looked over to the group of survivors that were fighting. Her gaze was enough to silence them.
Who the hell is this woman? And what's wrong with her? Just because I didn't reply to her question in seconds doesn't mean I didn't spent all that energy on forcibly ending the game…
She looked back at me, smiling sweetly. I could feel my body tensing up as she smiled. She's so weird…
"Apologies for the late introduction. My name is Mary."
A foreign name huh… she looks korean to me. Strange, maybe she was a tourist before all this happened?
"Gyungho."
I answered quickly. I thought about it for a bit. There's one explanation I can think of… Maybe the woman can use the abilities I have?
She looked at me curiously as if she was a hunter inspecting her prey. I glared back at her. Mary… I'll remember that name.
She smiled, turning around and went to where a guy was, pushing him down and sitting on his back as if he was her personal chair. I looked at her in shock.
"So, did you need something? Food? Supplies? Anything I can offer?"
She stopped for a bit and looked at my expression, smiling before she continued.
"Do you want to sit down too?"
She looked over to a coward looking guy, he was shaking in fear. Seems like something happened when I was unconscious…
"No need, I'm fine."
I stood up and looked in the crowd. The people were looking at me with envy. I'm assuming it's either because of how I'm talking to her or the way she's ready to give me free supplies…
I turned back to Mary, her face was full pf that annoying smug grin. I sighed, inspecting her throughly, I didn't have a chance since we were too busy having a conversation.
The woman had long wavy black hair and sharp brown eyes. Her skin was fairly pale. She looked like she could've been a model, she looked maybe around her early twenties… A model with that mouth? Too arrogant.
"Nothing is required, especially from you."
The group of people looked at me in shock then turned around to each other and started to whisper things. Except for the woman, obviously. She smirked, looking at the crowd. I stopped a bit, looking around in the crowd as well before continuing.
"Why are you offering free supplies anyways? Is this some kind of trick?"
Mary began laughing. Is this woman insane? Can she not read the room? I sighed, looking at her confused.
"Well, if you don't need anything then…"
She stopped for a bit before glaring at me. Her sharp eyes pierced me like fiery arrows. She began to talk.
"Get out, please?"
She said quietly. That was enough to scare most of the people here yet I stood still, my eyes glaring back at her. If you want to play, I'll make it my side mission to entertain you, I'm not one to back down from childish games with an amateur.
Let us participate in your game then. I turned around and walking out of the crowd as her expression softened. To think of it, she wasn't that different from me. Maybe she knows something about this world.
"Just as much as I expected from you…Gyungho."
Mary closed her eyes, yawning.
"Who's next then?"
After a while, the crowd scattered in to smaller groups, dividing into multiple small teams among all of them. Me and Chin-hae paired up as well, just trying to blend in.
I didn't know what the next game would be, but considering that people are teaming up, I'll assume it has something to deal with teamwork.
"Hopefully we'll survive this time, hyung."
Chin-had said, his voice filled with a bit of hope. I smiled and gave him a reply.
"Yeah, hopefully."
I answered reassuringly, I don't need him going into another shock. He's the physically stronger one here, he'll be useful.
As we were chatting, the same woman came up to us again. What is she scheming this time?
"Chin-hae! Gyungho! I've been looking for the both of you!"
Since when did she know Chin-hae? Were the supplies from her then? I sighed, Chin-hae was a genius but sometimes he's so clueless to the point I have to question myself. Thinking about it, she might've talked to Chin-hae when I was out cold. This applies to before the world came to an end as well.
"Ah! Mary, how is it going?"
Seems like Chin-hae is pretty comfortable around her…I turned my back, it's best I don't get involved with her.
Mary glanced at me, stopping Chin-hae from yapping about the first game and how he survived.
"Where are you heading, Gyungho-ssi?"
God that voice… it's frightening me. Maybe it's also partially because I haven't talk to new faces in ages… come on, Gyungho, you'll be fine. Just hold it in…
As I turned around, smiling awkwardly, the sound of a notification could be heard.
Ding!
[SYSTEM: The game will be taking place near Ganseok station in 30 minutes, all registered participants are advised to move.]
Thank god, I thought I had to talk to her again. Aside from that good news, the bad news would be I have to participate. The last game only ended not too long ago…
"Well, I guess we have to talk another time."
The woman smirked, walking over to a group of people, I assume they're her team then…
I tookk Chin-hae and began the walk to Ganseok station.
Everywhere I went, I can see the results of other starter games. Seems like we won't be seeing a lot of people at the station then…
After what seemed like a walk to the other side of earth, we arrived at Ganseok station. As we stepped foot inside, a voice came from behind.
"Aah! Wait! Stop!"
Well this doesn't look so good. The border turned red right when she reached the station.
