The next day came quick.
Amon's eyes fluttered open, but he felt completely different. Often, there's this small mental drowsiness he often feels every morning for a few minutes or so, but now he feels as if he was always active.
He was confused.
When he looked around, everything seemed clearer to look at, not even a slight blur.
[Notice]
The system panel appeared as the notification of the notice rang on Amon's ears.
"System? Was this... Err... Something you did?"
Amon quickly concluded.
[Affirmative]
[The Host's body modification went well]
Hearing the system's words along with reading the panel messages, he felt glad. But that didn't satiate his curiosity.
"What changed?"
[Name: Amon]
[Age: 18]
[Race: Pseudo-Human(Modified)]
- Psionic connection and pulse are greatly enhanced.
[Fame: —]
[NEXUS Type: Hexacaust]
[NEXUS Lv.: 2]
[NEXUS Abilities:]
1: —
2: —
3: —
"Eh? I levelled up my NEXUS to 2?"
Amon found himself stunned.
[Affirmative]
[Due to the increase of psionic connection levels, the NEXUS system quickly adapted causing the host to level up quickly]
[But make no mistake, although this made the host progress a level, the gap required to reach further levels is 4 times higher than the previous]
"Wait... So... How many people have even passed level 1?"
Amon couldn't help but ask.
[Approximately 40% of the entirety of the human populace have reached the threshold of level 2]
[Those who reached level 3 are merely 14% of the 40% who had passed the level 2 threshold]
[Further levels have less and less each one]
Amon was stunned, but he quickly recovered.
"Huh... Wait, that's only the human populace, right?"
[Affirmative]
"Then... What of the entire universe?"
[20% of the entire Universe have reached level 2, 5% of the 20% reached level 3, 30% of the 5% reached level 4, and so far only 1 of all existing races excluding the Xenon have been recorded to have reached level 5]
"That's... Wow... How many are there in the universe?"
Amon couldn't help but ask. Considering that the universe is unconfirmed to be infinite, though still large enough to span billions of light years in radius and possibly even further, there should be a lot.
[There are over 7 Trillion entities existing in the Helsaught Universe, 4-5 trillion being the Xenon race, with the remaining being the collective of Humans, Xubi, Draks, Efla, and Bexhar]
Amon couldn't help but find himself caught by surprise. 7 trillion? And the Xenon were 4-5 trillion of it? He couldn't recall any mention of the Xenon before in Honor Till Death but that was because the game focused solely on the player progression. If he recalls correctly, the game often ends with either the player having a meaningless final stand or the city the game was set on being destroyed killing everyone in the process. He couldn't recall if the city was really Evanguade or some other mobile city because he was way too immersed with the erotic scenes that weren't related to the endgame scenes composing of nothing but NTR.
Deciding to forget about how gut wrenching that game was for pure love enthusiasts like him, he decided to ask a more serious question to the system.
"What are the chances that I am to reach level 3 by the end of the year?"
[0.004%]
[People often take decades to centuries before passing level 3]
"That... Low?"
[That's the calculated confirmation]
[Though it's more of NEXUS evaluation]
Amon didn't look amused at the system's response.
"I want actual evaluation."
[Then the host must not be seeking of 'chances' but is instead asking for 'how long?']
[The Host is likely to reach by the end if the year, which would permanently grant the user a title only for himself]
"Eh, titles? There's such a thing?"
[Yes, though not recorded directly in the system as the host has yet to achieve one, individuals often gain titles granting them a bonus for the 'Fame' status]
"Oh, is that the main use for the Fame?"
[Negative]
"Eh? Then... What's it's use?"
[It's a part of the universe's law ever since the NEXUS became the norm in the universe]
[The Fame status is known and presented to everyone who has a NEXUS]
"What about those who don't?"
[Those who don't are those under 18,often being protected by their parents till they gain their own NEXUS]
"How does the fame thing work?"
[The Fame status represents the host's personal status]
[This is displayed to everyone if the host of the NEXUS system wills]
"The actual NEXUS System?"
[Affirmative]
[This also adds to the hierarchy of this universe]
[The highest fame leaders have the maximum level of Fame, that being 100]
"So... Does that mean they shouldn't be touched?"
[Possibly]
"What? Then how does that work!?"
The more Amon listen the more he was frustrated. He wanted the system to get straight to the point already because damn is it stalling.
[Does the host wish to be told immediately?]
"YES! FOR FUCK'S SAKE!"
Amon yelled rather loudly. It's almost like this entire thing was meant to stall for something or just someone wanting to rant with his completely messy mind.
[The Fame status represents personal status, which shows their level of influence or possible given influence to the public]
[Those who become heroes often find their fame jump from 0-10(basic fame levels, often civilians or students) straight to 40-50 depending on public influence they've had before becoming heroes]
[This also has a corrupt portion, where anyone 30 points above can do whatever they wish to anyone below so long as they are not within civilian fame threshold or stand as civilians in status]
[Though killing is out of the question, other things such as slavery, exploitation, corruption, graft, and other forms of higher famed individuals exploiting others]
"Does the government... Do the same?"
[Negative]
[Despite being a governing powerhouse, the Imperial Authoratives, the Universe's current standing united Government, they avoid abusing their standing as it would harm their relationship with the strongest users of the NEXUS]
"I see... So does that mean the strongest NEXUS users have the highest fame status?"
[Affirmative]
"Hmm... Damn. Being entitled as the 'Strongest' really has its values than just for intimidation..."
—PFFFFF
The door to his room opened, revealing Helios. It was time for another day of Amon's training. He wonders if he'll last a bit more longer even for a few seconds making the spike move.
