200 Years Ago...
"Congratulations Hayden! You've now become a NEXUS user!"
A woman appearing no older than 24 with blonde hair tied to a bun and wearing a formal suit exclaimed.
Today was her child's surgery, now finished, for his NEXUS.
Who is this child? Hayden Bayfield.
His mother, Annalisa Bayfield, is a prominent business woman of the Mobile City of Horus.
Her NEXUS level remained at level 1 with no signs of increasing, so she merely finished her journey in one of the Nexus Academies and didn't bother taking the Operative or the Heroic Exams. She's aware of her capabilities of course.
But she hoped for the best for her child. With her husband having left her for a more influential woman both equipped with wealth, status, and power, she was left alone with their child.
For 18 years, she took care of him, even spoiling him as much as she could despite the financial struggle she was suffering in.
But no matter what she did, she never saw her child smile.
It wasn't until 2 years later, when he had enrolled in a Nexus Academy that he changed drastically.
His first year wasn't eventful, he remained the same. But the second year was where everything Annalisa knew of her child completely vanished.
Hayden wasn't a quiet and timid child anymore. He gained an ego. and became obnoxiously annoying. When he succeeded on having his NEXUS reach level 3,he flaunted to his companions.
He became a playboy, a thief, everything that stains a parent's reputation to the very depths, and that's what happened to his mother, or if he even remembers her as his mother.
Annalisa suffered backlash. Hundreds to thousands of people began raiding her home, flooding her social media with hate comments, and completely made her unemployed not long after.
'A child who acts like an asshole likely means that his parents are assholes as well!'
'What are you teaching your child? How to be stupid? You're supposed to be his parent, why aren't you doing anything.'
Comments like these continued to flood Annalisa's life nearly causing her to end her own life. Ultimately, she made the decision of renewing her life, choosing to flee Horus and began a new life in another Mobile City that the Mobile City of Horus passed by,that Mobile City being Evanguade.
Here she lived her life, still a mere worker, but no longer a businesswoman.
30 years passed in a blur and she began hearing gossips about the new heroic named "Void". Annalisa didn't think much, assuming this "Void" guy is just another heroic who graduated from a Nexus Academy.
Heroics' true identities aren't revealed to the public anyway so she doesn't really care much.
By the time that she lived a total of 100 years in Evanguade, an Operative came to her home.
"Madame Annalisa Bayfield, Branch Head Helios of the Evanguade Operative & Heroic's Agency wishes to speak with you."
"E-eh? S-sir Helios?"
How could she not know such a name? One of the most well known Evanguade Operatives and the sole reason why Evanguade remained standing for nearly 2 centuries, that man being Helios himself.
Annalisa easily agreed and followed the Operative. When they reached the OHA Headquarters, Annalisa was immediately met with Helios in the reception room greeting the lady.
And here began her new life. Helios noticed that something suppressed her NEXUS level, so despite the training she went through, it didn't really develop her psionic pulse and psionic control.
Upon releasing said suppression, Annalisa quickly found her NEXUS level skyrocket from level 1 to 3.
She found herself stunned, and eventually found herself in tears. She couldn't help but think to herself. If she realized this sooner, or if this never happened, would her child ever become the atrocious bastard that ruined her life?
Though those thoughts were merely fleeting, so it didn't affect her much.
Helios took her in, finding her NEXUS ability unique. He ability allowing her to control camouflage NEXUS gears made her an invaluable asset for the OHA branch in Evanguade.
Operations after another, paired with her NEXUS ability, finally allowed her to gain her first own Operative title. "Cypher".
She kept working hard, but an incident had caught her temporarily crippled, forcing Helios to forbid her of being sent or request being deployed for any tasks and/or operations.
But it seemed that it was a message from the Gods as well.
"Who... Are you?"
A young man asked as he awoke from a bed in a formerly dark room. He appeared beyond heavenly in looks, easily surpassing many of the Draks and Xubi models she often loved fawning over in her free time.
He appeared innocent and kind, like a child untainted by the corruption of the world.
When Helios asked if he could walk, he attempted to. Though his attempt led him to stumble. Annalisa quickly caught him before he fell, catching the young man blush in embarrassment.
"Ah... Thank you."
He says, his embarrassment clearly presented in his face. Annalisa chuckled softly.
"No biggie~"
She says, her tone rather flirty.
Present day. A week a later after Amon's complete failure of a first trial.
Annalis observed the young man in a room with a 1 sided see-through glass that connects to the combat room.
Amon's movements were rigid and rough, but he tried his best despite the difficulty.
"Watching the youngin' instead of fawning over models now?"
Annalisa heard Helios' voice from behind, prompting her to face the man who'd saved her from a boring life.
She chuckled at his words just before her gaze returned to Amon.
"Mhm."
Helios approached my side, standing by me as we watched the young man trained.
"He's a completely different fella."
Helios blurted out. Annalisa chuckled at his words.
"Isn't that expected, Adam?"
Annalisa replied.
"Well... Yeah, but... I've never once seen anyone who's NEXUS type is a Hexacaust ever think of going close combat before."
Annalisa knew what he meant. Looking at Amon, he utilized the training NEXUS gear made for combat and experimented on how he could use it for close combat. Often using the beams as well but he focused mostly on utilizing the close combat experiments.
Annalisa glanced at Helios and saw a subtle smile on his face. She giggled silently at the sight before finding her gaze return at Amon once more.
