As the newly formed team of 5 reaches Cadmus, they find that the fire has been put out and the facility is on hold.
Not stopping our heroes, they decide to infiltrate the building.
While the trio narrowly enter the building, avoiding getting caught, Raven teleports both of them, using Robin's shadow as a mark, only to hear Aqualad thank Robin, "Appreciate the help," in a sarcastic manner, presumably since his tone never changes.
Robin: "You handled it. Besides, we're here to investigate poetic justice, remember?"
Robin says to our duo: "Where'd you guys come from? I thought you got lost?"
"Powers," is all Leon answers, not wanting to explain the whole mechanics of shadow manipulation.
As the group look around, Kaldur (Aqualad) sees the elevator closing with a figure in it, on the far side of the hall.
"There was something in the--"
Kid-Flash interjects, as he also saw the elevator close: "Elevators should be locked down!"
Robin hears the commotion then taps into a holographic screen showing up on his wrist, "This is wrong." *After a few seconds of hacking* "Thought so, this is a high-speed express elevator. It doesn't belong in a two-story building."
Aqualad: "Neither does what I saw," before he rips the elevator door open and they see the elevator shaft leading deep down with multiple lights and floors.
Kid-Flash: "Woah... wonder what's down there?"
Leon speaks up: "Only one way to find out," before he jumps down and Raven follows.
The trio look at each other before Robin smirks, "Aren't they just lovely?"
Aqualad: "Let's go."
Kid-Flash: "Rob..."
Robin smirks again then ties a rope down, letting them reach the end of the line to see Leon and Raven hovering in the air, staring at a door.
Leon: "This is the last floor."
To which they see the words SL26 written on the door.
Robin jumps up to the side and starts his magic, bypassing security. After a few seconds, his holographic screen beeps with small robin chibis appearing on it. The door unlocks. "Let's go."
Leon: "Chibis? Did they have this before? Or is it a butterfly effect?" Shaking his head, they go in.
Kid-Flash rushes past the hall into a corridor before he spots massive elephant-like giants marching through. He slips, and Raven uses her shadows to pull him back before they all give him a deadpan stare, to which he sheepishly apologizes.
Backstepping into the hall, they wait till the giants go away before looking around and finding a massive door.
After opening the door, the team sees rows of pods with beings emitting electricity, with electrical lines connected to them as if acting as a power source.
Robin: "Okay, I am officially whelmed."
Leon shakes his head at that comment before entering deeper into the room.
Kid-Flash: "This is how they hide this massive underground facility from the world. The real Cadmus isn't on the grid; it generates its own power with these... Things. Must be what they're bred for."
Raven, who was silent until now, speaks up: "They're alive... But I can't feel anything from them—no fear, no sadness, nothing except rage, yet they're still dormant."
Aqualad: "Even the name is a clue. The Cadmus of myth created a new race by sowing a dragon's teeth into the earth."
Robin: "And this Cadmus creates new life too," before walking towards one of the containers.
Leon turns to Robin: "Got a clue?"
Robin shakes his head: "No, but let's find out why," heading towards one of the containers and logs into the computer's interface. "They call them genomorphs. Whoa, look at the stats on these things: super strength, telepathy, razor claws. These are living weapons!"
Kid-Flash: "They're engineering an army... But for who?"
"Wait, there's something else, Project Kr? Ah, the files are triple encrypted. I can't--" Robin.
A deep, gruff voice cuts Robin mid-sentence: "Don't Move!!" A figure with multiple Genomorphs smaller than the ones around them, having an eerie similarity to simians, stops and recognizes them.
"Wait? Robin, Aqualad? Kid-Flash?? And who're the other two?"
"Awww... I guess we need to work on our media presence more, Rae; he doesn't know us. Doesn't matter though not like we know you either." Leon nudges Raven with his elbow, smirking.
Robin: "At least he got your name right, KF."
Jabs in the Boy Wonder from behind still working on the computer.
Aqualad: "I know you. You're Guardian, a Hero."
Guardian: "I do my best."
Kid-Flash: "Then what are you doing here!"
Guardian: "I'm chief of security, and you're trespassing, but we can call the Justice League and figure this out," he says while a smaller version of the Genomorphs is sitting on his shoulder like a pet.
Kid-Flash: "You think the Justice League's gonna approve of you building weapons?"
Guardian: "Weapons? What are you?
*Just then the Genomorph on his shoulder's eyes and horns glow crimson red, and the Guardian's eyes glow a reddish hue too.*
What have I?"
The Guardian grabs his head as if in pain, then shakes his head a bit before ordering the Genomorphs on the ground:
"Take them down hard! No mercy!"
As the Genomorphs charge, our heroes find themselves in a bind once again.
