Independence Day, the day Superboy is born an ironic sentiment as the boy would also gain freedom from Cadmus on this day. Leon sits in the living rooms couch in an uncharacteristically quiet manner elbows on his knees chin in his hands, while Raven humms in levitation meditating in the middle of the room waiting, for the League's arrival. The room set lit by a single dim lamp casting a foreboding atmosphere.
Leon already knew they weren't joining the leagues heavy hitters, No they were gonna be assigned to the junior leagues not that it mattered to him. No compared to being scrutinized and having almost no free time being a hero atleast he could bide his time this way, and get stronger.
At most he calculated he would stay there for a year minimum 6 months maybe, He never considered himself as a saviour not that he didn't like the job but because he knew he wasn't selfless and most of the time it's a thankless job. Back in the past whenever he patrolled was to gain experience and learn composure,
When he fought the supervillain was because he felt guilty his arrival created a new supervillain that wasn't supposed to be there before in this city. Everything he did
He had clarity that it wasn't selflessness, no it was just fun and jokes because he knew his life was never in danger.
The only time it was, He thought it was his responsibility as a butterfly effect of his existence.
While Leon is thinking about the future and making his contingencies, Raven next to him stops mid-air before opening her eyes
" You should calm down... Whatever happens we'll go through it together.."
Leon breaks from his thoughts and turns to look at Raven smiling " You'r---.."
* Hummmm* Before Leon can say the words in his mind a black jet lands in their backyard, cutting their conversation short before they walk briskly towards it.
Stepping closer the hanger opens, and a figure in black wearing an unfriendly expression on his face is seen standing there.
Leon abit annoyed about the Bats lack of subtlety remarks " You know you could just use a megaphone and call us out ... You might not miss somepeople from knowing you're presence that way .."
Batman " Your neighbours already left after their divorce, And about the rest .... Why should I care? When the owner of those houses is boarding my plane... "
Leon chuckles " Touché..."
" WHAT!!... You bought the houses on the entire street!!?.." Raven shouts in his ear.
" You forgot I'm filthy rich Woman..."
Shaking her head Raven and Leon enter the jet before they take off, Taking a clear look around the plane Leon muses it's only Batman with them " You trust us ?... Enough to come alone.. Why.... You don't even know our background ? Or who we are? Aren't you supposed to be the paranoid one.." Leon asks.
Batman's gaze narrows " You speak as if you know us personally.."
Leon scoffs " Oh please everyone in the world knows Batman doesn't trust anyone it's like common sense at this point .."
Batman's expression hardens " It's not about trust but observation, You're activities have caused ripples in the system yes but
It is also true that you have helped many people in your exploits.. This is the league giving you a chance to prove yourself and show them that we aren't wrong about you.."
" As for your background? Your exploits have earned you enough leeway for that conversation to be held later ....
*Eyes narrowed * For Now... "
After Batman informs the duo about their new team and regulations the rest of the flight goes in undisturbed silence, After what seemed to feel like hours of travel Leon finally sees their destination through the glass becoming visibler by the second.
"As the Jet soared closer, Leon's gaze was drawn to a distinctive landmark emerging in the distance. What Leon mused was the famed Mount Justice birthplace of the justice league, but not the typical mountain one might would usually expect. This mountain bore an unusual feature: an opening at its summit, reminiscent of a dormant volcano. The natural elements of this place felt rugged in contrast with the technically advanced characteristics visible from the top of the mountain where one could see a massive hanger laid sprawl in the heart of the mountain with numerous other vehicles present.
The peak appeared to have been virtually unaltered by a massive hologram and blended in with the surrounding wilderness due to its surrounding dense forest canopy. However, the opening at the top betrayed its secrets. It was as if the mountain stood alive in its own varied right as the peak was bustling with movement in a cacophony of sirens.
As they drew nearer, the details became clearer. The opening was not a natural formation but a cleverly disguised entrance,
Invisible from below but visible from above
In an ironic sentiment once again.
As they came down from the plane,
Batman took the lead, guiding the pair through the massive hanger. 'The Scrap-Yard was an area covered in Pale green and dark contrasting with the greenery outside.
Heading straight towards the place where the duo would meet their team, Batman takes no detours nor does he give any introductions which leads Leon to be frustrated " Usually we'd get shown around the place but noooo we had to get fricking Batman as the guide ...tsk.."
As they move onward following batman through the base which should in all its right be called a fortress in itself, As they gaze over the workers around the place and Heroes they would usually see in TV but this time they're infront of them in the flesh.
Moving in awe the duo maintain a calm and collected expression as they are not here to be gawking but to eventually be one of them atleast in Raven's mind.
Reaching a massive door that seems to open to the side, ofcourse Leon grumbles wouldn't be a scientifically advanced base without one of those doors that open and close from the right.
Batman granted entry after a quick scan leads the duo inside where they will meet their new team and venture in a new life path.
As soon as they enter the room, a voice filled with needless vigour and joy catches their attention
" Hey Beautiful.. I think you're lost..... the way to Heaven is Up.."
