Lu Jingyan opened her eyes to the sound of the light knock on the door. That was when she noticed it's already morning. Last night she didn't quite know what had happened after she showered and brushed her teeth the moments she laid on the bed she slept off.

The knock came again. Lu Jingyan reluctantly stood up from the bed as she made her way to the door and opened it revealing Leng Yumo
"Morning. Sister in law" she greeted
"Morning" Lu Jingyan greeted back as she let her into the room
"Grandma was right. I would be the first one to wake you this morning" Leng Yumo joked. Lu Jingyan looked down at her nails as she felt embarrassed.
*This was the first night in the house. how could I have overslept and wake up pass the host of the house?* She bit her lower lips
Leng Yumo saw the look on her face so basically deducted what her sister in law was thinking.
"Sister in law. You are now a family. If you wake up before us, Grandma would surely throw a fit. And besides, it's alright to oversleep. You are a Leng you sleep carries more weight than you think" Leng Yumo said as she smiled.
Lu Jingyan smiled as she heard what Leng Yumo said
"Okay. I will no get my bath and join you downstairs" Lu Jingyan said
"Be fast. We are going out" Leng Yumo said
"Where?"
"Shopping. You need a change of clothes and shoes" Leng Yumo said
"We don't need it" Lu Jingyan said
"You really don't need it? Or should I pinpoint the things you need to change?" Leng Yumo asked
"What did you mean?" Lu Jingyan asked. Leng Yumo sighed knowing without her sister in law would surely not give in
"Maybe I should tell Grandma you are not willing to go and you want to make the Leng family the subject of ridicule" Leng Yumo said blackmailing Lu Jingyan knowing with what she said she would totally agree with going with her
"Alright. You go wait for me downstairs I will be right there" Lu Jingyan said. Leng Yumo smiled at her achievement and she know something awaits her from her brother.
Sunlight streamed softly through the tall windows of the grand dining room. Madam Leng stood by the long table, her hands gently clasped in front of her silk robe, watching as Leng Yumo adjusted her sunglasses and twirled in excitement.
Lu Jingyan and Lu Xinyan, dressed in simple yet neat outfits, waited quietly at the entrance. Madam Leng's eyes lingered on their plain clothes — not shabby, but not the usual designer labels expected from children associated with the Leng name.
She walked over, voice quiet but firm. "Yumo... are you sure these clothes won't make them stand out in the wrong way?"
Leng Yumo blinked, then smiled. "Grandmother, people can wear gold and still be insulted. It's not what they wear, it's who walks beside them."
She walked over to Lu Xinyan and fixed his slightly crooked collar. "And with me beside them, no one dares say a word. Trust me."
Madam Leng looked at the trio, her expression unreadable — until her hand gently rested on Jingyan's shoulder. "Then be safe. And buy something you like. All of you."
Leng Yumo winked. "Already planning to!"
Madam Leng watched them leave, quieter... but not as cold.
"Madam" the butler called
"I fear. Yumo might not be able to protect them"
"Remember madam. That she was once the heiress to a prominent family" the butler said
"Alright" madam Leng said heading towards her room
