Chapter 3 Part 1: Aftermath and Discovery
"Xiao Fei, you… what are you… mmph?!"
Anna was just about to speak, but her lips were sealed.
Lu Fei suddenly kissed her.
Anna stared at him in shock, then her eyes grew gentle.
Their lips parted.
Lu Fei tightly embraced this woman, his voice deep: "Sister Anna, I mmph!"
Anna covered his mouth and smiled softly.
"I know… let's not talk about it yet, okay?"
"Let's check on the others first."
"All right…"
Lu Fei nodded helplessly.
His confession was interrupted.
But he wasn't anxious at least, Sister Anna hadn't refused his kiss, and that was good progress.
He glanced at the silver longsword at his feet, picked it up, and retrieved the scabbard.
He'd claim it as spoils of war.
The white holy sword trembled in his hands as if fearful.
But when Lu Fei looked over, the sword stilled as if nothing had happened.
Holy Sword: Don't come over! I'm scared!
After checking around, Anna's face turned pale.
Their teammates had all been wiped out.
Kate, Reinhart (the bald man), Anna all saw their corpses.
Not only that Kate's three beauties were also dead.
Their throats had been cut, dying miserable deaths.
However…
Blond handsome Kyle's corpse was nowhere to be seen.
"Xiao Fei, Captain Kate is dead… what do we do now?"
Anna had already thrown away the potion she got from Viscount Morgan.
Lu Fei wasn't a muggle, so there was no need for it.
She'd taken all those risks for nothing for that treacherous noble. How ridiculous.
Seeing Anna's pallor, Lu Fei hugged her tightly and gently patted her slender back.
"Don't worry, leave it all to me."
"Since Captain Kate is gone, then we'll handle the goods. But… we should check what it is what kind of cargo could attract such a powerful adventurer, willing to kill, loot, and impersonate bandits?"
"I'll listen to you."
Feeling his strong heartbeat, Anna's cheeks flushed, recalling that kiss from before.
Her heart pounded like a deer.
"Let's open it then."
Lu Fei didn't hesitate. He climbed onto the cart and pulled off the covering.
Both their pupils contracted.
"This is…?"
"People?"
The so-called cargo was actually… humans?
"No Xiao Fei, look at their ears. They're elves!"
"They really are!"
Lu Fei also stared in surprise.
Two delicate, lovely elven girls were huddled asleep in the cage.
Their skin was snow white, with no wounds it seemed they hadn't been violated.
Anna's face paled.
"Kate's taken commissions like this before! So he's been helping that mysterious merchant traffic people? How hateful!"
"Xiao Fei, we're not completing this commission. We're taking these two elves with us!"
Anna decided at once.
"But… won't that deduct your adventurer points and decrease your experience?"
"Silly. With you here, experience is a cinch. You've been hiding from me for so long! Tell me, what's your real strength now?"
Anna shot him a hard look.
All her efforts to get that potion and it turns out he never needed it!
Lu Fei wore a wronged expression.
"I told you before, you didn't believe me!"
"Ugh, I don't care. You'd better reflect on yourself!"
"Yes…"
Lu Fei had no choice but to comply, hoisting an elven girl upon each shoulder.
"Let's go. We shouldn't linger."
"Mm."
Anna agreed.
Who knew if those black-clad people would return?
After they left…
A figure on the ground sat up, eyes complicated as he watched the two.
It was Kyle.
Looking toward Lu Fei and Anna, Kyle sighed deeply.
"Who'd have thought the Sword Saint Reinharlut would die in a small place like this…"
"Who are you saying is dead, Kyle?"
Just as he sighed, the elements suddenly stirred. A naked red-haired man appeared before Kyle.
"Whoa! You're alive?!"
Kyle's eyes went wide in disbelief.
"What else? I'm the legendary Sword Saint! Resurrecting is easy ever heard of the Phoenix?"
Reinharlut grinned triumphantly, hands on his hips.
Kyle couldn't bear to look.
"Cover your junk, man! I don't like men."
"Uh… I don't like men either!"
Reinharlut replied casually. Suddenly, his expression shifted.
"My dragon sword !"
"That kid took it!"
"Tch…" Kyle dug a finger in his ear and said calmly, "Isn't that your family's holy sword? No one else can use it. Just summon it back, right?"
With Phoenix's blessing, to be blown to bits and still revive Kyle didn't believe Reinharlut couldn't recover his sword.
But Reinharlut's face darkened. "That was in the past!"
"Kyle, you don't understand the holy sword is the exclusive weapon for every Sword Saint in my family, but it has a unique trait!"
"A trait?" Kyle asked, tossing Reinharlut a piece of clothing.
"I said, cover up. You're hard to look at."
"That doesn't matter the point's the sword! If the Sword Saint is defeated, the Holy Sword Redel will acknowledge the victor as its new master. For me to reclaim it, I have to defeat him!"
During that time, he lost all sense of the sword.
Kyle shrugged.
"You were careless. Serves you right you thought being Sword Saint made you invincible. And you tried to assault Anna? I misjudged you. Didn't think you were that kind of guy."
Kyle gave him a look of real disdain.
"Err… I was joking. I wouldn't insult her at most hug or kiss her. Besides, she seems to have a strange pull for every man. Can't believe I met such an outstanding woman in this small place worth it just for that."
Reinharlut drooled at the memory.
"Heh."
Kyle rolled his eyes. "You lost your Holy Sword and you still feel 'worth it?'"
Reinharlut stiffened.
He waved it off, saying calmly, "I was careless this time. Next time I see that kid, I'll teach him a lesson and pursue Anna to be my wife!"
He said that, but the memory of being blasted to ash still haunted him.
Kyle thought for a moment of Anna, her looks and smile, and sighed deeply.
"Reinharlut, you said Anna has a powerful attraction for all men. What do you mean?"
"Ha. You like her too? Fair game between us then!"
Reinharlut laughed, clapping Kyle on the shoulder.
"As for her uniqueness let me tell you, she's a natural-born witch."
"That Anna is a supreme beauty born with a witch's gaze."
"Which witch? I don't know."
"But a witch once in love, she'll only love one man! Even if you take many wives, she won't object and will help you!"
Kyle's eyes lit up, and he swallowed.
A soft loli voice rang in Lu Fei's mind.
Could the sword's spirit really be a loli?
"Master, remember, my name is Esther. Call for me anytime~"
Another voice sounded, now clearer after absorbing his magic.
If Reinharlut had been there, he'd have cried.
He'd never gotten a response from the sword spirit.
No surprise a cute loli named by him as 'Redel'… No wonder she never replied!
For Lu Fei, his magic and blood were special; his burst magic had awakened the sword's spirit.
After absorbing his blood, the holy sword instantly bound to him.
