Towards the end of summer, Carrie came to pay Levi a visit.
It was his day off and he was planning on taking all of them to the clothing store to shop for some new clothes, but when Carrie came he had to postpone it a bit.
"Hey guys!" Carrie said as she walked into the Gardner's house.
"Carrie?!" It seemed like Becca and Reggie were quite familiar with her.
"Becca! Reggie!" She went and embraced them.
"Where's Clover?" She asked the twins.
"She's on the couch." Carrie finally turned her attention to where Clover was.
"Hey!" She walked to where Clover was.
"Hi!" Clover said timidly.
"I'm glad you're doing much better." She rubbed Clover's cheek with her thumb. "But you have lost weight. You're much more thinner than you were before." She was filled with so much concern for the young Clover. Levi had told her about Clover and all what she had been through.
She felt bad for Clover, but she was thankful Levi had taken her in and was now responsible for her.
She knew Levi very well, they were high school sweethearts. Her and Levi had dated in high school, but broke up due to her moving far away for College.
Although she insisted that they should still be together, but Levi felt it'll be best if they separated. He didn't want to be the one to tie her down.
"Levi!!!" She shouted as though she was like a mother who was about to scold her child.
"Yeah?" He answered calmly, dragging his feet into the living room.
"I wasn't expecting you." He said.
"I decided to spend time with you before I go back to College." She said excitedly.
"I'm honored." He said softly. "But it won't be for long, cause I promised to take them out for shopping."
"Can I tag along?" The first reply that came to his head was no, but he decided to be more considerate.
"If you want to." He looked away when he said it.
"Anyways... Clover has lost a lot of weight." He turned to look at Clover, his eyes scanning her body.
"I noticed..." He frowned a little bit.
"But...?"
"She'll be fine. It won't be that long before she adds weight again, she's been eating quite a lot this days." Clover's cheek turned slightly red with embarrassment. That means he had taken notice of everything, he was really paying attention to her.
"So, any particular reason why this shopping can't wait till tomorrow or any other day?" Carrie asked, 'cause she had planned on spending the entire day with him.
"Today is my only day off, until the new school session begins. I won't really have time again."
"Ohh.." She said, a little bit disappointed but she could understand him.
"How about Clover?" Carrie asked.
"She is going to resume along with my siblings. After I take care of all her admission requirements." Clover beamed with joy the moment she heard that.
That moment was interrupted by the sound of the doorbell. They were a little surprised though, because people rarely visited them.
Becca was the one to open the door.
"Pizza delivery." The person said, carrying a huge box of pizza.
"We didn't order pizza." Becca replied, a little confused.
"I did." Carrie said.
"Ohh.." Becca collected the box from the pizza delivery guy.
"Thanks." Becca said to the guy. He just smiled and then left.
"We didn't pay him though." Becca shut the door and was heading to the dining to drop the huge box of pizza on the table.
"I did already... On their site." She handed a back to Reggie.
"Here are some sodas too." Reggie's eyes lighted up.
"Thanks, Carrie." He smiled and rushed to meet Becca at the dining.
"Thanks, Carrie." Becca shouted from the dining.
"You're welcome." She said loud enough for Becca to hear her.
"Thank you." Clover said, getting up from the couch to meet the twins at the dining.
"You're more than welcome, Clover." Clover started heading to the dining.
"Tell them to save some for me." He said to Clover. "Will you eat?" He asked Carrie.
"Sure." Carrie answered.
"And Carrie." He added.
"No problem." Clover answered.
"I know this isn't merely a visit that you want to sit and chat. If that was the case, you wouldn't have brought a bribe." Levi said to Carrie. She smiled, knowing that he could read her intentions very clearly.
"I just wanted to spend time with an old special friend." Levi looked at her blankly. It didn't mean he was repulsed by her; he just knew her tactics far too well.
"Let's have a chat in my room then." They left the living room.
"Clover! Come join us in the dining." Becca shouted from the dining room.
"I'm coming." She had eavesdropped on their conversation and understood what they meant.
She didn't think Levi was that kind of person to spend time with any random girl, and from Carrie's exchange with the family, it seemed like they were all familiar with her.
"It shouldn't bother you." Clover said to herself.
"Save some for Levi, Carrie and I." Clover said as she entered the living room.
"Okey dokey." Reggie replied.
"Where are you going to?" Becca asked.
"Levi told me to put some things in the car, so that we could go to the store as we planned as soon as Carrie leaves." She lied. But at least she wasn't stealing or sabotaging anything, she was just going to let curiosity get the best of her.
"Alright then." She turned around and left, going to the direction of Levi's room.
The moment she reached the axis of his room, she started moving stealthily. When she reached his room door, she places her ear on the door, trying to hear what was going on in the room.
It was like she thought, they were having sex. Although, Carrie wasn't loud, her moans came out breathy 'cause she wasn't making use of her voice very much.
Due to her clumsiness, she lost her footing and fell to the ground. It wasn't loud but if someone paid attention they would have heard a small thud on the ground. It seemed like Levi hearing had picked it up, making him stop for a while but then he ignored it and continued, assuming it was coming from the dining.
Clover slowly crawled away to a certain point, then got up and walked all the way to where the twins were.
Something plagued her mind, the thought of him being with Carrie.
Could it be she was jealous?
She didn't want to go that far, from what she knew Levi was 20 years old and he saw her like family.
