Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Plans in No Motion

Weekends at the Makindes' mansion were nothing short of elite luxury, filled with laughter, food, and just the right touch of soft family drama. ✨

Makinde Lolade, the shining star of the household, had always been the one who got things right. While her older brothers were either caught cheating or experimenting with substances, she remained clean, focused, and responsible. Her appointment as the Senior Girl of AllStars Foundation College was just another feather in her perfectly aligned cap. Her parents adored her and pampered her even. She was their pride, and it showed in everything.😍🤳🏾

But behind every golden child is a story… and a friendship that might just be too close for comfort. 💭

Adeniran Olamide, a.k.a MideFlex, her childhood best friend, had been in the picture for as long as she could remember.

Their bond began when MideFlex's cousin married Lolade's elder brother, both were just eight years old and adorable on the bridal train. Since then, his presence in her life and her home became as constant as the air she breathed.💕

As puberty stepped in, things slowly shifted.

MideFlex began to feel things like real things. He masked his emotions behind playful teasing and inside jokes, but there was a soft tension growing. Lolade, smart as she was, could sense it. Sometimes, it confused her. Was he just being goofy? Or was there something deeper? She often brushed it off, telling herself, "He's just a lover boy… unserious as usual." 😁

They bullied each other like siblings, laughed like best friends but deep down, everyone around them knew one thing:

They were "just friends"… but for how long? 💭

A message binged on Lolade's phone, a Snap from MideFlex with the caption: "Weekend mode: activated 😎"

She giggled, shook her head, and dialed his number.

Gbing... gbing... gbing... 📱

"What's up for the weekend?" he answered, voice laid-back and playful.

"How are you doing?" she asked, smiling.

"Just trimming my dad's garden... it's boring, bruh. Why don't you come over?" His tone dipped slightly, smooth and teasing. 😏

"I'm actually weaving a headwarmer. Nobody's home... and I'm bored too," she replied, pouting. 😩

"Then let's meet at your place. I'll call the rest of our study group, at least make it lively small."

"You sure, Flex?" she asked, raising a brow. Noise and her house? Not always a good combo.

"Of course! They're definitely bored too. I mean, it's the weekend, Lola. Our senior year! We're supposed to be at someone's birthday party or a beach house, not stuck at home!" he said, half laughing, half serious.

She laughed. "No wahala. I'll make prawn crackers and juice... but I'm not cooking for anybody o!" 😂

"Say less! I'll bring some things when I'm coming. Lola with the Dripz!" he hyped her before hanging up.

Thirty minutes later, all five of them were in Lolade's house, dressed in casuals and looking too good for a study group. 😎

"What a nice house," David a.k.a BigDave said, admiring the living room.

"Thank you," Lolade replied politely.

"I'm not the type to meet up anyhow," Gift said, crossing her legs. "So I told my parents I came to study." She looked around. "We are here to study, right?" 👀

"Will you take a break, Gifty?" MideFlex groaned. "Are you telling me you're not bored at home? Nobody is reading on the weekend, abeg!"

"Then bring a topic. I'm leaving by 6 p.m" AraBaddie added, scrolling through her phone.

Lolade checked the clock... 1 p.m. Five more hours before the mansion would fall back into silence.

"Can we talk about the Rich Demons?" she said suddenly.

The four others groaned in unison.

"Yes, I mean come on... we're all resuming next week. Those kids are not going to change. That's why they're demons. On the first day of introduction—"

"Don't belittle us, we have money, hope you know?" BigDave mocked, mimicking the elite tone of the Rich Demons. 😂

"I know right?" MideFlex said, giving him a handshake that screamed 'You get it jor!'

Gift rolled her eyes. "So what are you saying? We can't do anything about it?"

AraBaddie leaned forward. "To be honest, as long as the Rich Demons stay in our lounge together, that class will be total chaos. You see that Lizzy ehn... I've met her before. She's something else." 😤

"So what are we guys saying?" Lolade asked, glancing at Gift.

"Let's form our own elite group," MideFlex said seriously. "We'll show them pepper. Because if they picked AllStars Foundation College, they know what they're doing." 😈

"Who and who?" AraBaddie said in disbelief. "Count me out, please. Joining this study group alone is already history for me. You want to form a rebel squad? For what? Cheap folks?" 🙄

BigDave cut in, "They aren't cheap o. They'll dominate the school."

"So it's you that wants to dominate the school?" Gift shot back. "You're the senior boy. Inhale the respect, abeg." 😅

"Respect is not in their dictionary at all," Lolade said with a sigh. "They disrespected me that day even without their uniform." She looked at MideFlex. "Whatever you want to do, you have my support as long as it's not something stupid that'll get me expelled. You know our principal loves expelling people no matter who you are"

A deep silence followed.

"We don't need a crowd," MideFlex continued. "Just the five of us. Let's form an elite group not for clout, but for order. They'll fear us, while the students respect us. Our pride. Our power." 💪

"I don't give a fudge about this," AraBaddie snapped, grabbing her bag. "I'm not scared of anybody."

"For better or worse, if it's to protect our juniors... count me in," Lolade said quietly, turning to Gift.

"Me? I don't like wahala. Have you ever seen me in any public fight? I'm a low-key babe... I'll pass," Gift replied, standing up. 😌

"Same here," AraBaddie added. "Have a blessed weekend. And when next we meet, let's read, please. I don't like wasting time. I'd rather wash dishes in my mom's restaurant than sit here talking about justice." She hissed and left the mansion, Gift following behind.

That left BigDave, MideFlex, and Lolade...the trio that stayed behind, munching prawn crackers and sipping juice while their minds began to spin with something bigger than just a study group. 💭🥤
