Thelma brought me food the next day. She sat with me all day telling me to be strong. She spoke like an adult. One could mistake her to be a grown up. I digested her piece of advice and saw sense in it.I expected my dad to be there but he didn't show up that day. I was very sad deep inside me but I couldn't blame him. When I realized it was past four noon,I told my sister to go back and prepare supper for dad. She reluctantly agreed promising to come back the next day. It was the weekend anyway.
I was discharged when dad came to pay the bills the following day. When we went back home, whatever I said was like trash in my father's perspective. He refused to talk to me or even respond to my greetings. However, Any little mistake I made gave him an opportunity to ridicule me. I was sick and tired of it all.
The days that followed were more terrible. He would come from work very late and drunk. I was about to ruin his reputation with my stupid pregnancy, he would tell me. Tears never left my eyes.
I saw the seriousness of the problem when he was told me to rent a house since I was old enough to give birth. Those words hurt me so badly that I refused to eat anything for the rest of the day. I didn't give Thelma the chance to comfort me at all. I locked myself up till I was convinced that she had left for school.
I packed up a few stuffs left the house, not knowing where exactly I was heading to. Sandra didn't live anywhere near my place and I had no one but I wasn't ready to go back home. I walked several miles. Gradually, the sun was beginning to set and the fact that I had nowhere to sleep hit me like time bomb....
After walking for hours, I finally found solace at a bus station. I spread some of my clothes on a bench and laid on it. Thelma called me several times but I refused to pick up. I didn't want to be a burden to dad anymore. I tried calling Bobby but couldn't reach him. I was worried sick. I kept asking myself, how would I be able to raise this child alone with no shelter whatsoever....
