Chapter 5: Sumit's Friend
Current time: 6:25PM
Sumit is still unconscious after his battle. Now, after consuming the potion his wounds are healing at an incredible speed, but he is still unconscious.
Though Sumit is the not the only one who is currently in this condition.
Going back in time a little bit...
Time: 5:40 pm
Location: Skyline Fine dining Restaurant & Hotel
The Restaurant was the pride of this city. A 12 floor building with a glamorous view of the city from the terrace made this place, a choice for Elites.
Once even a famous summit was hosted here cementing it's popularity throughout the country and outside of it.
The forever shining hotel building was now enshrined in complete darkness as well as it's surroundings.
On the 10th floor of the hotel was it's fine dining Restaurant, where one had to book months before to make a reservation or need to have a prominent background.
On the cold floor, was a man looking to be in early twenties lying passed out.
By his side one could also see a girl of similar age was passed out as well.
They were Saurabh and Riya, Sumit's best friend and his girlfriend.
Saurabh's POV:
"UGH! What was that lig..ht?" while walking up clutching his head, Saurabh mumbled these words.
Looking around in darkness, he tried to find his phone, but was unable to do so.
He gave up the search and started to nudge Riya, " Hey! Riya wake up!!", though still disoriented he still managed to wake up Riya.
"Saur..abh? Riya weakly managed to say this and was able to finally sit up." She looked around but was unable to see properly due to darkness.
Suddenly their surrounding started to light up, this was due to the light from moon that was shining through the windows.
"Babe? Are you fine?", asked Saurabh as he gave her water.
Riya nodded and before she could say anything, they both were frozen as a voice started to speak directly into their minds.
"DENIZENS OF THE CELESTIAL PRISON 003"
"The time of fulfilling your purpose has arrived."
"PROVE YOUR WORTH TO THE EMPEROR OR PERISH LIKE THE INSECTS YOU ARE!"
"NOW THE STAGE IS SET!"
"ONLY THE FITTEST WARRIORS WOULD BE ABLE TO GAIN A CHANCE AT REDEMPTION."
"What the hell is happening ?",spoke Riya.
Following the voice's disappearance, Saurabh saw various silhouettes starting to stand up around the restaurant floor.
[STAND UP BOY], suddenly a dignified voice sounded inside his mind for the second time.
"What?! Who are you?" bewildered Saurabh asked the question.
[NOW IS NOT THE RIGHT TIME FOR SUCH QUESTIONS , TAKE YOUR FRIEND AND GET OUT OF THIS PLACE]
Saurabh realised that whatever the voice was, it was not a threat to them, so he decided to follow its instructions.
He quickly grabbed Riya's hand and made a run towards the exit.
Riya's body felt quite limp and Saurabh was quite worried, but the voice again spoke to Saurabh.
[DO NOT WORRY, SHE IS FINE BUT IT LOOKS LIKE SHE GOT A TROUBLESOME HELPER.
I MEAN SERIOUSLY, WHAT KIND OF GUARDIAN COMMUNICATES LIKE THAT IN THIS SITUATION]
Saurabh could feel that the voice was growing quite impatient. But he nonetheless believed in it and exited the restaurant while dragging Riya.
At this moment suddenly Riya snapped out of her daze and looked around.
Feeling Saurabh dragging her, she finally stood up and stopped him.
"Saurabh you won't believe what just happened." Riya spoke to Saurabh with a hurried tone.
"Did you hear a voice in your head?" Saurabh questioned to which Riya replied
"Yes, but it was two voices, the first voice was quite commanding, but the second voice was quite gentle and it told me it wad my Guardian Angel." Riya spoke in a bewildered tone.
"ARE you a Guardian Angel?" Saurabh spoke out replied.
[YES I AM, BUT NOW IS NOT THE RIGHT TIME TO DISCUSS ABOUT ME BECAUSE YOU NEED TO FIND A SAFE PLACE TO HIDE FOR NOW]
Saurabh looked at Riya and said, "Looks like we can only hear our own Guardians."
Riya understanding everything nodded and Saurabh said, "We need to find a safe spot, my Guardian is saying so."
"Mine too" replied Saurabh, "Although I don't know what is happening but let's follow their advices for now."
"I think the Washroom would be the best place to take refuge." Riya suggested.
"Let's go there then." Saurabh felt this plan was quite feasible.
As the turned to move towards the washroom they stopped after seeing a figure standing in their path.
Riya took out her phone and tried to use the flashlight, but her phone was not working.
"Stay behind me Riya." Saurabh said after bringing himself in front of Riya.
[REMEMBER KID YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO RECEIVE A AINGLE SCRATCH, OTHERWISE YOU WILL BECOME ONE OF THEM]
"A Zombie…huh?" Saurabh said after he processed the information his Guardian imparted to him.
Riya also was informed of the same by hers and resolutely stood beside him.
"Don't worry about me Saurabh", she said.
Saurabh looked at her and was distracted, but then composed himself and said, "Watch my back."
"Sure then." As Riya said so Saurabh quickly charged towards the zombie, but not before taking out his metal bracelet that he wore as a knuckle duster.
Charging towards it Saurabh was the first to deliver a straight punch that connected directly to the zombie's face.
The Zombie groaned and tried to claw at Saurabh, but it's movement was too slow and due to Saurabh was able to land two more punches directly on its head.
He completely shattered it's skull and killed it.
When the zombie collapsed it gave off a faint light and Saurabh felt his body became light.
Riya who was currently watching him called out to him.
"Saurabh!! look towards the Restaurant", Saurabh's focus was instantly now on the restaurant and he saw more than 6 silhouettes trying to break open the door.
From their clumsy movements it was quite clear that, he was looking at zombies and not people.
"Quick!! Let's go the kitchen and find some weapons." Shouted Saurabh in urgency and Riya ran towards him.
The zombies as if enraged by his shout quickly broke through the door and slowly chased through the corridor.
Saurabh and Riya were able to reach the kitchen and locked themselves in there.
It was all thanks to the fact that Riya had noticed the position of the kitchen earlier when they walked into the Restaurant.
As they were searching around for knives and other things to use as weapon.
Saurabh said, "Riya, it seems like killing those things make us stronger."
Riya replied with a delay and said, "Yes you are right, my Guardian said something about Life Pearls and is encouraging me to fight and kill them."
"Wait a minute then.", Saurabh said as he looked around the kitchen for something, though it was dark they were managing it by lighting up the stoves.
Saurabh finally found some plastic wraps and table clothes.
"Let's make out some armour from these first."
Riya nodded and they started to cover their bodies with the aerials.
PRESENT TIME
6:25PM
LOCATION: LAKE CITY MEDICAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL
Sumit finally woke up from his 3 minute nap.
