Chapter 9: Survivors

"Status" Sumit called out while brushing his teeth in front
of a mirror.
He was able to get a great sleep last night. It seemed
during dark hours sounds of the surroundings are muffled out.
Though it could have been dangerous for him, but it also
made it possible for him to sleep and get his mental state back to peak
condition.

"Right now I am about be 20 in all stats except Luck and Charm. So how
should I distribute my attribute points system any suggestions for me?" Sumit
asked the system.
[Host, I would have given you an advice but the thing is, Everyone has a
different fighting style and preference. Like if you want to just brute force
through your enemies upgrade your strength or if you want to be a tank type
fighter upgrade your endurance and vitality.]
"I think I will prefer to focus on a more balance stats." Sumit said.
"System add 2 points to strength and 3 to agility" Sumit said.
[DONE]
Sumit felt an extreme surge of power at that instant throughout his body.
"Looks like after every 10 points there is a major change in my body."
[You are right. Every 10 points in a Stat is a limit that could not be
broken before the advent of mana. But now such a limit does not exist if one continues
to gain life points. With each upgrade you are stepping out of the shell of a
human being and evolving into a higher life form.]
"You know what, I am feeling really offended like what do you mean by a
higher life form?" Sumit asked while walking towards the mess on 3rd
floor.
[Host do you remember the stages during leveling up?]
"Yeah I do." Sumit said with a stiff smile.
He totally forgot.
[And you call yourself a doctor huh?] The system sneered.
"Just cut to the chase man." Sumit felt annoyed by hiss Remark.
[Well after reaching the rank of major a life form is said to become a
Higher lifeform]
"I see. How are they different from us?"
[Well the obvious difference is a major leap in power
For eg. If someone at Captain rank could easily destroy a large size city then
someone at Major rank could destroy a country with a casual attack.]
"What…", hearing this sweat started to form on Sumit's forehead and he
stopped speaking.
[See.. this was one of the reason I was not telling you anything about
higher ranks. Now you might suffer a major blow to your mental health.]
"Why did you assume I would be depressed? Right now I am only feeling
excitement."
[Host, do you know you are weird?]
"Many have said that to me before but that's not the point right now
continue the talk about Higher life forms."
[Well other than the power boost a higher life form also starts to loosen
the shackles placed by the universe. For example there are almost no organism
that can survive in outer space, but a higher life form can.]
"For this feat alone they would be very highly placed on the evolutionary
ladder." Sumit said as he was now in the middle of boiling some eggs in the
mess.
Currently he was wearing a blue oversized hoodie and shorts.
After boiling some eggs as he was about to sit down on a table, he heard a
sound of glass breaking.
"Zombies or survivors?", Sumit said and quickly finished his breakfast.
[Host you need to remember that zombies are not your only enemies in this
world now.]
Sumit stopped for a moment and said, "Thanks for the reminder system, I
really appreciate your concern."
Sumit quickly cleaned up the plates and went back to his room quickly after
taking some chef's knives from the kitchen.
He quickly took his backpack from his room and left his room, his eyes now
shining with resolve.
"I had initially thought of leaving at afternoon, but if they are survivors
then it would be better for me to leave with them, but if they are zombies it
would be better to eliminate them here only before they become a hindrance."
As Sumit descended down the stairs, he could hear people talking thanks to
his now enhanced hearing due to his stats.
He slowed down at the first floor and descended while tip toeing.
From a corner he could see a group of 4 people in their early 20s entering
the dorm after breaking the glass door at the entrance.
The group consisted of 3 boys and 1 girl.
As they carefully walked into the building, Sumit decided to introduce
himself to them but not before doing some minor changes.
He quickly messed up his hair and smeared his face and clothes with dust and
debris, before walking down the stairs acting fearfully.
"Wh-who are you guys?" with an acting that would have put even the best
actors to shame Sumit presented himself before the survivors.
SAPNA'S POV:
Till yesterday, I was the queen bee of my batch, with boys being at my beck
and call while the girls being jealous of me.
I thoroughly enjoyed the attention I received as a first year student. Many seniors
were asking me for dates and I loved to torment them.
Even after the world collapsed , I was able to seduce a rather powerful guy within
an hour and managed to survive.
"But why am I sent to search for resources right now?"
Was it when I offended that person by not allowing him to touch me?
I mean, just because I enjoy attention it doest not automatically makes me a
s*ut. Heck I never even had a proper relationship till now, let alone kiss a boy.
"Wh-who are you guys?" just as I was busy with my thoughts a voice came from
in front of me.
A boy who looked barely 20 was standing on the staircase. His face looked average
and his hair was unkempt, also with the dust covering him one could deduce it had
been quite rough for him.
That day I did not know that this person is going to change me so much.
