Chapter 31: You Are Not Fit to Be a Teacher

"Enough, Yu Xian, stop! You're far too agitated."

A male disciple reached out to grab her arm, but Yu Xian flung him away. Her voice was hollow, almost like it carried the sound of bleeding sorrow.

"Why can't I speak!? Why can't I be agitated!? My brother… my brother…"

Memories of her brother—already a Soul Saint—pushing her away flooded her mind. Her lips trembled as her knees gave way beneath her. She collapsed to the ground, tears streaming uncontrollably.

Xuan Zi did not speak immediately. He turned his gaze to the others and asked solemnly,

"Tell me… what exactly happened?"

One of the male disciples hesitated for a moment before recounting the encounter with the Blood-Corrosion Dragon Lizard. As for what happened after they drew it away, he could only repeat what Zhang Lexuan had already told them.

After listening, Xuan Zi glanced at Huo Yuhao but said nothing further.

Even if Huo Yuhao had saved them, luck had played a significant role. Zhang Lexuan had given him the Blood-Corrosion Dragon Lizard's flesh as a reward, which was more than sufficient.

He took a deep breath, then addressed everyone with a grave tone.

"I apologize. The responsibility for this incident rests entirely on me. I failed in my duty as the supervising teacher, leading to the sacrifice of six Inner Academy students. Upon returning, I will resign from my position in the Supervisory Department."

Then he turned to Zhang Lexuan.

"Lexuan, you should absorb the spirit rings and bones first."

Before his words could fully settle, a sharp, clear sound drew everyone's attention. They instinctively turned their heads and saw Yu Xian yank off the ring that signified her identity as a member of the Shrek Supervisory Department officer and hurl it to the ground.

Xuan Zi's face darkened.

"Yu Xian! What are you doing?"

"Doing what? Isn't it obvious?"

Yu Xian's expression was icy, her voice detached.

"From now on, I am voluntarily withdrawing from Shrek Academy."

"You've lost your mind!?" Xuan Zi's brow furrowed.

"Although this matter was partly my fault, as an Inner Academy student of Shrek, unforeseen circumstances are inevitable. To become true experts, one must endure life-and-death trials. Are you saying that you'll withdraw from the Academy because of this?"

At these words, all those present, including Zhang Lexuan, frowned. Huo Yuhao's expression grew icy as well.

Hearing almost the same words as in his previous life, he could barely contain his incredulous laughter.

So, before the Death Messenger incident in his previous life, Xuan Zi's negligence had already caused such heavy casualties among Inner Academy students.

And the most infuriating part? This old man had learned nothing from it. Years later, he shamelessly used the very example he created to teach them!

"How are you fit to be a teacher?"

The icy words made Xuan Zi frown. He turned his head slightly, his murky eyes locking onto Huo Yuhao, and an invisible pressure pressed down on him.

"What did you say?"

Zhang Lexuan's face went pale, but before she could intervene, Huo Yuhao's voice rang out again.

"I said—"

Huo Yuhao inhaled deeply. His voice carried a bone-chilling cold that instantly dispersed the oppressive atmosphere around him.

"—how the hell are you fit to be a teacher!?"

"You talk about unforeseen circumstances being unavoidable… but was this incident unavoidable!? Did some sudden event prevent you from supporting them?!"

Xuan Zi froze, but Huo Yuhao pressed on with scorn.

"You claim that life-and-death trials are meant to temper them, but is that just sending them to die? Then why not send them into the Core Area to fight the Hundred-thousand-year-old spirit beasts during their first ring? One simple excuse of 'unavoidable' and it's fine, isn't it!?"

"Six die? Then send sixty."

"Sixty fail? Send six hundred!"

"If even one survives, would that make them a 'genius' as you claim? Does that satisfy you!?"

Observing Xuan Zi's fluctuating expression, Huo Yuhao gradually calmed.

"If you truly feel the guilt you claim…"

Turning away, as though he could no longer bear to look at Xuan Zi, Huo Yuhao began moving toward the forest's edge. His indifferent voice carried clearly to everyone.

"Then resign, so you won't harm anyone else in the future."

Silence followed.

No one spoke; only the occasional glances at Xuan Zi, sharp as knives, cut through the air.

Yu Xian's emotions, seemingly stabilized by Huo Yuhao's rebuke, finally settled somewhat. She turned to Zhang Lexuan and bowed deeply.

" Sister Lexuan, I will never forget your lifesaving grace. If fate allows us to meet again, I will repay it generously."

Then she looked at Xuan Zi, her voice hoarse but firm.

"I can accept a strict teacher. I can even accept a teacher with a unique educational philosophy."

"But I cannot accept a teacher's irresponsibility, because I belong to the top academy on the continent."

"As that young man said… You are not fit to be a teacher."

It was only after leaving the Star Dou Forest mixed zone that Huo Yuhao finally allowed his body to relax slightly.

Exhausted from using both SinofPrideand Judgment of Fate, he was in an extremely weakened state. Fortunately, he had conserved his spirit power, allowing him to continue using spirit Detection to avoid dangerous spirit beasts.

Having safely crossed the perilous mixed zone, he no longer needed to remain constantly vigilant. Yet, as he walked, he suddenly stopped and gazed in a particular direction, his voice breaking the silence.

"Greetings, senior."

At that moment, it felt as if the entire world froze. Silence pressed down, unnatural and complete.

From behind the trees ahead, a white figure slowly emerged. The ethereal voice carried a hint of surprise.

"You know me?"

The figure was a young girl, appearing close to his own age. Sunlight danced on her silver-white hair like golden ripples across a lake. Her exposed skin seemed pale, blending almost seamlessly with her pristine white gown. Simply standing there, she exuded a fragile, pitiable aura.

Though Huo Yuhao had already detected her through spirit detection, seeing her in person left him momentarily dazed. He had not expected her true form to appear so youthful.

Among all the beings he had ever encountered, the naturally born Snow Empresswas undoubtedly the most beautiful. Yet the girl before him rivaled her in grace and majesty.

The beauty was equal, the aura equally noble, yet distinct: if the SnowEmpressradiated a chilling aloofness that warned intruders to stay away, this girl embodied a clear, otherworldly purity, untouched by mortal affairs.

"I've heard of the Spirit Beast Sovereign, but may I ask why you have sought me, senior?"

Huo Yuhao did not know the Silver Dragon King personally. In his previous life, he only learned from the Snow Empress that another Spirit Beast Sovereign, stronger than DiTian, resided in the Star Dou Forest. While Di Tian was called the Beast God, he was merely a spokesperson for the Sovereign of Spirit Beasts. Even as a representative, the Snow Empress had told him that when Di Tian spoke, even the spirit beasts of the Far North obeyed his commands.

As for this Spirit Beast Sovereign's identity, the Snow Empress had speculated it might be either the Golden Dragon King or the Silver Dragon King. He had met the Golden Dragon King in his previous life—now sealed in the Divine Realm—so the Sovereign in the Lower Realm was most likely the Silver Dragon King.
