Ayla's POV
I froze in my seat, heart hammering, as the sudden silence around me made it painfully clear that everyone was watching.
Heads turned. Conversations halted. The pretend sound of keyboard clicking stuttered into an awkward stop.
All eyes were on me, and I didn't know where to look or what to do.
I lowered my gaze to my keyboard, trying to steady my breathing, trying to force myself to press something, anything, but the air around me had changed. It felt heavier now. Thicker. Sharper. Saturated with speculation.
"Wow… she personally came down here?"
I heard it from my left, but my head felt too stiff to turn.
"Did you see the way she was looking at her? Like they knew each other before. I'm definitely sure that visit isn't only about a file."
That came from the right, but just like the first time, my head felt too heavy to confirm who exactly it was from.
