Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Guidance from a Wandering Soul

"A wandering soul? What does that mean?" Lucas Kane frowned.

"Are you natives… dead?" he asked uncertainly.

The boss glanced at him, then at the other players, lost in memories.

"When you entered the universe game, you should have received a warning from the universe server: demonic energy will invade reality."

Lucas Kane nodded.

The boss laughed: "We were in the same situation back then. Once demonic energy appears, monsters grow stronger. If we can't resist them, what do you think happens?"

Inside the pharmacy, the air turned tense.

When monsters cannot be resisted, there is only one outcome: destruction.

"Our planet was devoured by demonic energy. We were lucky. Our bodies were destroyed, but our souls were taken by the cosmic server and became the natives of this place."

Lucas Kane was dazed for a moment.

He exhaled deeply. Originally, his goal was simple: make money, pay off his parents' debts, and let his mother live well.

Now, he realized he must become stronger. Only then could he protect himself and his loved ones from the next demonic invasion.

He wanted to ask more questions but realized he was still in the dark.

"Boss, we're probably all humanoid, right? Give me some advice—what should I do next?"

The boss was surprised: "This handsome boy is smart. I'll give two suggestions. First, reach level ten as soon as possible. At level ten, advance to the next level. Choose the hardest challenge you can. After advancing, your strength will surpass ordinary players."

Lucas Kane nodded.

"The second suggestion is related to advancement. There are four cosmic races on Orion Novice Continent. Resources are limited. You must improve the strength of your own race, competing for resources. Once a player of your race reaches the first level, your race will be eligible for the second beta test, letting more players join. This gives your race a huge advantage in future competitions."

The boss continued seriously: "Remember, if demonic energy invades reality, all races must work together. Many races have been weakened by civil war and devoured. Don't let Metastar humans make the same mistake."

Lucas Kane nodded.

"Okay, those two suggestions boil down to one thing: level up first. Oh, and one more—complete achievements to receive rewards. Your soul talent is strong. You might unlock your full potential. Don't wait until your planet is devoured to regret it."

Feeling the weight of responsibility, Lucas Kane nodded solemnly: "Thank you, boss. I will!"

He smiled: "I'll come back next time. Do you have a task for me?"

The boss glanced at him: "With your strength, you couldn't complete it anyway."

Lucas Kane smiled helplessly: "Okay, then I'll come when I'm strong enough!"

Passing a few dumbfounded players, he said: "Spread the two suggestions and the advice. Give all Metastar players some pressure. Motivation comes with pressure."

The players nodded, awed.

Even the knowledgeable boss considered Lucas Kane extraordinary.

A middle-aged player said seriously: "Big brother, we'll spread the word!"

Lucas Kane sent private messages to Brian Wang and Victor Lark with the boss's advice.

Both were influential in reality, especially Brian Wang. If he reported it, Emperor Xia would take it seriously.

Lucas Kane had no control over their reactions. His focus was clear: upgrade, set a small goal, reach level ten quickly, and complete the highest-level job change.

Orasia Palace — Ceremonial Hall

Emperor Xia sat on the throne, calm but majestic. Ministers below waited silently for updates on the game.

As soon as the public beta for the cosmic game was released, Emperor Xia had the Blackbird Army counted and sent into the game.

Their goals were: improve strength and obtain game information.

Two hours had passed in real life, four hours in-game. Midnight approached.

A tall man rushed in: "Your Majesty, the Blackbird Army has sent the latest intelligence!"

Emperor Xia perked up: "Present it!"
