In the middle of the night, we found ourselves at our favorite hangout, the GLU-net on the fourth floor of one of the university buildings. While my ghost buddies are busy playing Genshin Impact, I'm here writing this confession to share with you my experience from today.
I turned down their invite to play because I wanted to prioritize writing my blog first. You might get mad at me for being slow with updates, but it seems like you're just as excited to uncover my real side. Anyway, I'm about to start sharing what just happened a little while ago.
——————————
Today's the day Joseph's got his little voyeur plan locked in, opps, I mean his whole 'scaring girls' routine. Like, his day isn't even complete unless he pulls that crap. And then he's got the nerve to try and drag us into his sick games. What a piece of shit
Just as we were about to enter the girls' locker room, I felt like I was the one actually scared by our fake haunting task. The place was creepy and the atmosphere felt off. I knew Joseph already planned the schedule and the spot assigned to us. Maybe he flirted with the highest supreme ghost's secretary again to set our schedule.
Once we got inside, I just hid behind Ayan, knowing he's the bravest among us, so I'd rely on him to defend me if anything scary suddenly showed up.
We were puzzled at that time why there was hardly anyone inside the room. Who exactly are we supposed to scare, ourselves? I started thinking that maybe the secretary of the supreme ghost was just messing with us. Maybe she found out Joseph's real plan and did this on purpose.
"Dude, why is there no one here?" Carl asked Joseph softly.
"I don't know either, dude," he replied. Then suddenly, we heard a loud bang coming from inside one of the lockers. Because of that, we all stepped back like scared ghosts, practically trembling with fear.
"I told you guys, we shouldn't have come here." I told them, while trembling, but I don't think they could speak either when that locker slowly creaked open.
And like the main characters in horror movies, even though they know it's scary, they'll still check what's inside and why it's moving, right? That's always how the leads in horror films are, shaking with fear but still super curious. Their impulsive thoughts always win.
Our heads moved together to peek inside the locker since it was dark and hard to see. I held onto Ayan's arm tighter, and I swear I could hear my heartbeat echoing all around. Then, we both screamed when something suddenly jumped out of the locker, it's a black cat. Man, I didn't realize my friends were just as scared as I am.
And then there's the black cat effect. In horror movies, those cats are always the main stars. They are the ones who are always represented in horror movies. I wish they'd get appearance fees too. Poor black cats, just living a peaceful life on the streets, they're just not mistaken for ghosts, they also get blamed for being bad luck. Didn't the viewers ever think that sometimes, people are actually the bad luck in cats' lives? But anyways, what's that cat even doing here? How did it get inside?
"I told you, it's nothing," Carl said boldly. Honestly, I didn't hear him say that. After that we decided to split up for a bit, maybe there were still some girls left here to scare.
But then the lights suddenly started flickering. This is the biggest cliché of all, and sometimes it really annoys me in those horror movies. When the lights go on and off like that, we ghosts always get blamed first. Why? Couldn't it just be a faulty bulb? Instead of wasting time on scares, why don't you just have an electrician check it out?
Because of the teasing, broken light, the four of us quickly gathered. I'm really wondering now why my ghost companions are scared. This is the first time I've seen them like this. Are they guilty because they know in their hearts that scaring girls isn't really our goal for being here right now?
I frowned when I saw an old brown notebook at the bottom of the locker that suddenly opened earlier. It looked like it came from inside and accidentally fell out when the black cat came out. So, it's old again? When it comes to horror, they really like old things. If it's not an old house, it's an old cabinet, a dresser, and now an old notebook. Doesn't it look scary if it's Gen Z style?
I immediately picked it up, and as I was about to open it, I felt a cold breeze pass by. And who else is blamed when a cold breeze passes by, is that even a question? Of course, we ghosts are the main suspects again.
"Guys, did you feel that?" Joseph asked, and I could clearly hear the fear in his voice. That means he also felt that cold breeze.
"Yeah, it's cold." Carl chimed in. Are you guys really sure and believe that when a cold breeze passes by, it's automatically us ghosts? Have mercy! Stop slandering us. We can't carry an air conditioner, for the record.
"Relax. It's just the wind." Ayan explained. Good thing he wasn't even scared. It's impossible for us to be haunted since we're already ghosts, right?
I was surprised when I looked back at the old notebook and it was no longer in my hand. And this is another instance of the sudden appearance and disappearance of something that you say ghosts are responsible for. What do you think we are, robbers! Can't it be because of your stupidity that you just misplaced it? Sorry for ranting, but I really can't help but get pissed off.
I was about to ask if they noticed the old notebook I'd been holding when we suddenly heard soft footsteps outside, slowly coming closer to the locker room.
We slowly turned to look behind us, towards the door. Silence fell over us as we waited to see who would appear in the doorway. I was nervous, and I think my fellow ghosts were too. It's really weird. I'm not used to seeing them scared.
I didn't know whether to jump for joy or be scared when I saw Misaki stop walking when she saw us. She was staring at us seriously while we were frozen in place. What could she be doing here? At this moment, I confirmed that her third eye was indeed open and she could see the four of us here now.
"Misaki." I stuttered, feeling a bit shy as I said her name. It's embarrassing to admit, but I'm the only one blushing among us ghosts. I really have a crush on Misaki, and my heart beats whenever I see her.
"Oh, I need to go now." Joseph said. I was about to ask why he was suddenly leaving, but he suddenly disappeared.
"Me too. I'll leave you guys for now." After that, Carl suddenly disappeared as well. I looked at Ayan because we were the only two left out of the four of us. He sighed. Don't tell me he's leaving too?
"If you ever find out the truth, I hope you can still forgive me." Ayan said to me seriously. I was confused by what he said, and I don't think I understood it. I followed him with my gaze because I knew he was going to teleport away from here just like the other. I'm really envious of that one of the ghost skills, the teleportation like Son Goku's, but until now I still can't do it.
Before long, Ayan completely disappeared as well. I became nervous because only Misaki and I were left there. I lowered my head in shame. It's so awkward and makes me self-conscious since I'm the shy type of ghost. When I looked back up at the doorway where Misaki was standing, I was very disappointed to see that she was gone too.
——————————
That's what happened earlier. Everyone left me all alone. To be honest, I was hurt, guys. Imagine being left behind like that. Now I know how painful it is to be ghosted. They're really shameless! We ghosts get hurt too, because we also have hearts. It just doesn't beat, but at least it's still a heart. Well, come to think of it, it's also true that my heart does beat because of Misaki.
I'm going to thank you again for reading my blog. I'm happy that somehow there's someone willing to listen to my thoughts even though I'm just a humble ghost. I hope that one day, you'll develop a third eye so you can see my handsomeness. Not to brag, but I'm just telling the truth. So don't be envious, okay? If you're envious, you may close your eyes already.
Once again, it's your hottest and cutest ghost who is still willing to love even when hurt,
-Anthony
