Chapter 21 - Sharper

Sharper, Sharper, Sharper. It was so obvious, if making it bigger wasn't working make it sharper. Kurt began to focus on trying to sharpen his fist making his fist able to not just bruise but cut, an improved water knuckle. If this thing was going to kill him he was at least going to make the damn rabbit pay for it. His water fists made a formation more into gauntlets, two streams of water crossed in his front and two more on his back connecting them together, it wasn't full armor, but his forearms seem to have a sharp spine in the formation. He could feel a deep power swirling in his mana, he didn't care where it was from.

Kurt was deep in the forest, the trees were moving like they were on conveyors, moving in every direction, it was almost impossible for him to avoid, the clarity of sharperness made him bring everything together. It's not like he never thought of it before, he just never grasped how to make the magic do it. But he didn't have a choice this time. He made a water ball and compressed it into a disc. A water disc began spinning in front of him, he forced it to spin around him, cutting all the trees around him in the process. It wasn't enough though, they would just come back but at least a moment where he wasn't avoiding them. The rabbit landed in front of him, and made a bark with a math jaw, eyes still glowing, staring directly at him.

The clashes again, and Kurt's knuckles dug into the side of the creature's face drawing it blood. Finally Kurt was doing some real damage but would it be enough. It was even less sane to think that the Horror Rabbit easily was twice his size, the only reason Kurt could even hit or avoid it was his water boot allowing his spring steps to give him the height, and momentum, but still, without a solid foot you can only deliver so much power. He would be smacked and flown in whatever direction. The waters from the fountain were on overdrive, Kurt had never taken hits like this before so he never knew he could even withstand some of the beating he was receiving. He never tried to pull so much power before yet, it was there somehow. He had no idea where it was coming from, he didn't have time to care.

Shooting a water disc at the creature it avoided it with ease, but another had dug into its leg. The creature gave out a feeding scream, okay next plan might work out. The creature gate a jumping kick towards Kurt, you dove underneath it. He then stared at the rabbit from the other side. He was trying to make another opportunity to use a water disc. After a few more back and forths, he made one, and sent it flying. He knew it was going to hit and immediately created a large water ball, this was easier as it didn't need compressing, threw his hand inside it carrying and simple bag tied with a string into the ball, and swiftly pulled out just the string, the ball swirled into an orange color as it was pushed towards the creature, it was about to give a scream, and get a big taste of poison. He had held onto the other bag, but used the entirety of this one and hoped it was enough.

Like a water balloon the Horror Rabbit's maw seemed to pop the water ball, and it was as good of a success you could ask for. The ride was turning in his favor, the rabbit seemed to be slightly swaying unevenly. But it then found Kurt again and made a mad dash towards him, Kurt was easily able to avoid it, the Rabbit had slowed down a little, and smashed hit head into one of the trees. Even his control over the forest seems to be less than before, not immediately getting out of the way. Not that the forest was on his side now, the constantly moving trees made and transversal before a beating with a misstep or pause. Kurt had pushed mana into his eye and found it a bit easier to predict them, but that didn't always mean he could.

He was starting to land more strikes, the spikes on his knuckles were digging in and making it bleed. The Horror Rabbit was starting to get more desperate, and erratic. It managed to miss a swing from Kurt and swat back, hitting Kurt and sending him flying, right into the center of the forest, not towards it, Kurt was about to land right at the heart. The rabbit jumped to follow. But when it landed it started to feel all its wounds, and Kurt was able to get back up, to start pummeling the rabbit, striking over and over. The rabbit skull crushed but Kurt couldn't comprehend the rabbit had just died for a few more moments. Again and again at a dead corpse Kurt struck, adrenaline fuel rage, just the moment he could stop just like that. His water fists were turning red because of all the blood that had managed to mix into it. He was still striking again and again.

Finally Kurt started stopping, and looked down at his guanltlets, and flinged them off and the blood mixed waters off, breathing heavily he said, coming to an end of it, Kurt screamed "That fucking right, try to fucking kill me you damn mother fucking rat. That's what you fucking get." He fell down completely exhausted panting, his mana was starting to go wild with nowhere to go. He'd won. The thing was dead. Using its body as a back rest, he stared out.

The heart of the forest had a pool in it, and a magnificent structure spurting liquid from its top, it was an ornate fountain. Its weird structure and build seemed a bit familiar, was this a Mana well?

"Ohh look," said an unfamiliar female voice, "you think it's all over, that's cute."
