The door burst open with a bang!
"Jing're!"
Zhu Ping, who'd been at the door eavesdropping on the conversation inside, rushed in the moment he heard Bai Jing's cry out.
He saw Bai Jing sprawled on the ground and Bai Han holding the broken fragments of teacup in one hand. Zhu Ping stared at the scene, furious. "Enough! Bai Han, get out this instant!" His spiritual aura surged uncontrollably in panic, so sharp and forceful that Bai Han, who had been standing proudly nearby, paled and stumbled back several steps before fleeing.
As soon as Bai Han was gone, Zhu Ping rushed towards Bai Jing to check his injuries.
Zhu Ping's anger vanished completely when he saw Bai Jing in front of him covered in bruises.
Tears filled Zhu Ping's eyes at the sight. "Oh my god! Are you okay? It's all my fault. Because I'm so useless and couldn't even protect you, you have to suffer this insult everyday." His tears fell and Bai Jing's gaze softened. Facing his son's gentle expression, Zhu Ping couldn't hold his tears any longer, he hugged Bai Jing tightly, and cried.
Even though he felt pain from his injuries, Bai Jing smiled faintly and reached out, grabbing his father's sleeve: "Don't blame yourself, it's not your fault. I'm fine now."
Zhu Ping finally calmed down and let go of Bai Jing. He gently helped Bai Jing up from the ground. He looked at the mess, sighed. He took out the injured potion from his space bag and applied it, then began tidying the mess around them, the overturned chair, the broken teacup, and the streaks of blood on the wooden floor. Afterwards, he sat at the edge of the bed silently.
Bai Jing lay on the bed and size Zhu Ping up with his eyes, this daddy of his is very good looking. No wonder the main wife was hard on him, she might have been afraid that Lord Bai would favor Zhu Ping.
As Bai Jing continued to look at Zhu Ping, he was shocked to see a red dot appear on Zhu Ping's chest. Bai Jing gasped in surprise and rubbed his eyes repeatedly but when he looked again, the red dot was still there.
'What's that?...'
Bai Jing follows the dot closely curiously, when it stops, a stream of unfamiliar information flooded into his mind. Bai Jing pupils widened as glowing text flashed before him...

'What the hell!' Bai Jing was shocked. He looked at Zhu Ping's reaction, but the other party didn't seem to be aware of what happened. In order to confirm his thought, he asked carefully and cautiously: "Father… have you been poisoned?"
Zhu Ping stiffened: "Poisoned?" His brows furrowed, not sure why Bai Jing suddenly asked. Moreover, he'd never told him about his situation: "Jing're how did you… who told that?"
"You really were poisoned, then?" Although Zhu Ping didn't admit it, he didn't deny it either.
This conclusion made Bai Jing realize that he wasn't just seeing things.
Zhu Ping fell silent for a long moment. Finally, he sighed: "Yes. I have been poisoned for fifteen years. It happened two years after you were born. The physicians said I had been afflicted with a rare toxin known as Purple Worm Poison. Even after all these years, there's still no real solution."
"But that was long ago. Don't worry about me, Jing'er. You have enough to worry about." He tried to smile, but the trembling of his mouth betrayed his calmness.
Bai Jing saw that the red dot had faded and so did the text in front of him. He hesitated for a moment: "Can I check your pulse?"
Zhu Ping turned around and stared at Bai Jing for a while, scratching out his hand without saying a word. Bai Jing sat up and placed his index and middle fingers on Zhu Ping's wrist. Sure enough, the information that disappeared a moment ago appeared again.
His heart pounded with excitement. It wasn't a hallucination.
This was real.
He had a golden finger!
Bai Jing remembered before crossing over, the voice said that he had everything he needed to adapt to this world.
Zhu Ping's confirmation that he was poisonous proved that the information is correct. If so, the solution given should be able to solve the problem. From the original owner's memories, Bai Jing could tell that Zhu Ping was a good father who cared about his son's well-being, but as circumstances stands, he had to give way to fight against fate.
He could tell the only reason lord Bai kept Zhu Ping around despite only having one child with no talent, was because of Zhu Ping good looks and his son also inherited his looks. Lord Bai thought although Bai Jing had no talent, with his looks, he would be able to get married into big families but this unexpected situation messed up everything. Therefore, Zhu Ping's position in the Bai family is currently being threatened. If he could have another child, things would be best for him.
"What's going on?" Zhu Ping look at Bai Jing curiously
Bai Jing smiles mysteriously: "Father, don't be surprised. I received an inheritance last night in my dream."
"An inheritance?" Zhu Ping was stunned.
Bai Jing cleared his throat and began to lie with a clear conscience: "I had a vivid dream last night. In it, an old man in an unfamiliar village stood by a river, pleading with the villagers for help to cross. They all shunned him, calling him deceitful and unlucky, refusing to help him. The old man claimed this was his last chance to cross, and without it, he'll never see the other side of the world.
I felt moved by him, and offered to help him. Once we reached the other side, he thanked me, revealing he was a Lord physician who had achieved nothing. As a token of his appreciation, he offered to pass on his inheritance to me. He then pressed two fingers to my forehead and chanted a spell, which is when I woke up. He said… I could diagnose a person's illness by taking their pulse."
"Jing'er, that's… that's incredible!" Zhu Ping held his son's hands with sparking eyes, unable to hide his joy.
"Father, you've been suffering from a rare poison for many years. It's called Purple Worm Toxin. It attacks the internal organs and… affects fertility. The cure requires a few rare herbs. I can guarantee with this prescription, you'll be able to get rid of the poison."
Zhu Ping's expression changed drastically, his hands trembled. Purple worm toxin… He'd lost all hopes years ago when he was diagnosed with this almost incurable poison.
Zhu Ping clenched his fist. Fifteen years ago, he was poisoned when his son was only two years old and almost lost his life. He was then told that the poison had damaged his internal organs and he won't be able to conceive for the rest of his life.
How can that person be so hateful?! They left him with no room for recovery. Zhu Ping clenched his fist so tightly that blood was dripping out.
Obviously, he had believed Bai Jing's make-up story. The diagnosed Bai Jing is the same as what other physicians have been telling him over the years, but none of them dare to guarantee that he'll recovered.
