Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Marriage (2)

The servant remained unconvinced. Having grown up with Ye Cheng, he had witnessed the humiliation his young master endured within the Ye family. Every three years, the Ye family received five admission tokens for the Limitless Academy examination. Ye Cheng, has already reached the seven levels of Qi Gathering, and rightfully deserved one, but Lady Ye refused.

Therefore, Ye Cheng struck a deal with Lord Ye and had been working diligently to serve the family. Just when he was about to receive the token, an unforeseen event occurred, threatening his statue in the family. Just how unfair life needs to be for him?

"You've worked so hard to get the admission token. How can you watch them give it to the fifth young master just like that?"

Ye Cheng sighed deeply and said seriously to the servant: "Xiao Shen, don't worry yourself. After today, I will no longer be part of the Ye family."

He acts like he doesn't care, but in fact, it affects him deeply. His future is almost ruined by those people.

"Then, let me go with you." The servant suggested

"No," Ye Cheng refused, "I have nothing right now. Coming with me would only cause you more hardship. Stay here and assist the other young masters."

"It's all Bai Jing's fault!" the servant Xiao Shen said with resentment.

"You're right, it's entirely his fault!" Ye Cheng's eyes glinted with a ruthless, cold light. Everything I worked so hard to achieve was stripped away because of him.

Misfortune is terrible, but being the cause of someone else's misfortune is an even greater transgression.

...….

Meanwhile, inside the carriage, Zhu Ping relentlessly lectured Bai Jing on how to live a proper life as a married ger: "You two are a young couple with a long life ahead of you. Not all marriages start with love; you can find it along the way. Also, that child Ye Cheng has suffered greatly since his mother's death, and he might take his frustrations out on you. Just endure it and remember, you can only rely on each other to survive. As a Ger, you are naturally inferior to men, so listen to him and never argue. I'm sure with time, he will recognize your goodness and treat you kindly."

Bai Jing attentively listened to Zhu Ping's words, nodding occasionally to show his understanding.

Zhu Ping wasn't trying to demean their status, but rather stating a simple truth within this world: Gers were considered inferior to men, both physically and socially. The legal system of this continent places Gers at a greater disadvantage. For example, a married ger was forbidden from using their cultivation to harm their husband.

Any transgression of this law, if reported, would result in severe punishment, the exact nature of which would depend on the extent of the injuries or damage inflicted. This was just one of many rules and restrictions that limited the lives of Gers in this society.

A while later, Lord Bai came back with a smile on his face. Seems like whatever agreement he made with Lord Ye was successful: "It's settled." He said as he entered the carriage. "Jing, be a good boy and don't give your husband trouble in the future."

Zhu Ping knew it was goodbye time. He pulls Bai Jing into a tight hug and refuses to let go. "Don't worry, I'll be fine." Bai Jing patted his back to assure him.

"Don't forget to come visit from time to time." Zhu Ping held back his tears.

"I will. And don't forget to hide from others before taking your medicine. I'll be expecting a sign from your stomach in a month." Bai Jing whispered in his ear.

"Okay." Zhu Ping finally had a smile on his face and waved goodbye.

"Lord Bai, I'll be leaving my daddy in your care. If anything bad happens to him, I will come visit you as your worst nightmare!" Bai Jing stared Lord Bai in the eyes seriously and didn't seem to be affected by his aura; but in fact, his back was covered in cold sweat.

Lord Bai looked at him for a while and laughed: "Boy, you've become more daring. I'll be looking forward to your achievement." He didn't take Bai Jing's words seriously and waved his hands.

Bai Jing got down from the carriage and waved goodbye to Zhu Ping. He watched the carriage leave through the gate, Zhu Ping was still looking out the window waving to him with red eyes.

Bai Jing stood on the spot not knowing what to do. He saw some servants looking at him with pity. After standing for ten minutes, he started to get irritated. A simple looking carriage came from the back of the Ye mansion, inside sat a handsome young boy.

The carriage stops in front of Bai Jing and the handsome boy opens the door. "Get in." His cold voice sounded.

Bai Jing was taken aback. From his memories he could tell that this person is Ye Cheng. Seeing the person whose child he was carrying, Bai Jing suddenly felt embarrassed and didn't know how to face him.

"Do you wanna stay here? Get in already!" Ye Cheng was a little impatient.

Bai Jing quickly entered the carriage, he smiled at Ye Cheng who was looking at him coldly: "Hum… Hello."

Ye Cheng ignored him and turned his head back to the book he was reading. Bai Jing stood awkwardly, the sudden movement of the carriage made him lose his balance and he almost fell.

Ye Cheng didn't lift his head to see what was going on.

Bai Jing held onto the carriage wall and looked around, but there was only one long seat. Ye Cheng was sitting in the center so he could only sit at the edge.

The carriage was moving smoothly for an hour before they got on the bumpy road. After getting pushed around for another hour, Bai Jing was both physically and mentally tired. He took out the clothes bundle from his space bag, put it on the floor and lay down on it. Soon, he was fast asleep. Ye Cheng looked at the person sleeping on the floor indifferently. He set aside his book, closed his eyes, and began to meditate.

While Bai Jing was asleep, he felt a hand squeezing his neck. He tried as hard as he could to push the hand away, but it wouldn't budge. He also tried to open his eyes, but they stayed shut, just like a dead object. He became very frightened and struggled: "Let go of me, please let me go..."

He exhausted all of his strength but the hand still didn't budge. He could only plead for his life. His voice grew fainter and fainter until it was just a whisper. "Please let me go, I'm sorry. I was wrong..."

Sorry? You better be. Ye Cheng sneered and took his hand away and went back to his seat.

Bai Jing coughed so hard that tears were streaming down his face as he sat up. He looked around, feeling lost, and it took him a moment to figure out where he was. When he saw Ye Cheng looking at him with a cold stare, Bai Jing felt a strange fear. This confused him even more. He wondered why he was so scared, especially since everything seemed fine between them just moments before. He couldn't understand what had happened to change things so suddenly.

What's going on?

Bai Jing thought was interrupted by the voice of the villagers.

The snow horse was very eye-catching. As soon as they entered Longxu village, many villagers thought that they were from a big family so they walked out of the road with curiosity to see what was happening. Some quick-witted one hurried to the village chief.

The village chief, a seventy-year-old man, walked towards the carriage: "Two little friends, you've come from a long distance. May I know what is going on?"

Ye Cheng took out a token and gave it to the village chief.

The village took the token and browsed and said: "Oh, you're the new owners of old man Yan house. The house is at the end of the village." The village chief directed them.

"Thank you." Ye Cheng nodded and put something in the village chief's hand. As soon as the chief saw what was in his hand, his eyes open wide with surprise, he smiled and became more friendly towards them.

The carriage driver heard the location and drove the carriage to the village end.

"Wow, whose carriage is that?"

"They are outsiders, only old man Li has a carriage in this village."

"I hear that someone bought the old man Yan house at the foot of the mountain. It might be them."

The villagers chatted with each other and went their separate ways, it was late already. Longxu village wasn't big, it took five minutes for the carriage to reach the end of the village.

Bai Jing put his clothes away and got out of the carriage, A very simple thatched house came into view. There was a small gate separating the courtyard from the road. The environment was calm and peaceful, so peaceful that only the sounds of birds could be heard. Behind the house was the Longxu mountain, and on the right and left sides there were small hills.

Surrounded by nature, Bai Jing felt that his life had come to the fullest: "This place is not bad." He unknowingly said his thoughts out loud. Bai Jing was immediately frightened, he looked at Ye Cheng afraid that he'll upset the other party.
