Jin ducked out of the way and used his knife to cut the belly of the wolf that lunged at his head.
"It's always a wolf." He grumbled, standing back up and getting into a fighting position.
The wolf spun, its claws digging into the dirt, and growled at Jin while saliva dripped from its jaws. The cut across its belly wasn't deep, and it wasn't even fazed by the injury.
Instead, it focused its attention on Jin, looking at him as its dinner.
"Fucking weak ass knife. Activate the laser cutter." A blue humming energy wrapped around the knife, allowing it to cut through tougher material, including the hides of tougher animals.
Since the wolf didn't have a strong hide like animals such as boars or rhinos, Jin was confident he would be able to fight against this monster without any issues.
"Now, what power do you have? We're not in a snowy area, so you wouldn't have an ice or camouflage ability. You could be a deviant, but the odds of that are low. Plus, you don't look like one. Computer, Analyze."
[Scanning...No specific power found.]
"Guess it's just one strong bastard."
"AWOOOOOOOOO!" The wolf lunged again, and as if sensing Jin had underestimated it, its speed doubled, nearly taking his head off.
"Haha! So you're physical attributes are beyond normal, huh? I can work with this." Jin fired a grappling hook into the wolf's side, trying to pull the beast toward him.
Unfortunately, the wolf was heavier than he expected, and he couldn't use his power to reveal himself. So, he jumped into the air, using his rocket boots for extra height, and reeled in his line, which pulled him toward the wolf.
"Gotta use your brain, mutt!" Jin stabbed the wolf in the back with his laser cutter knife, digging deep into its flesh.
The wolf growled and whimpered, running around to get Jin off its back. But Jin held on even when the wolf started running super fast.
"Motherfucker!" He stabbed the wolf again and again and again, each strike digging deeper into the wolf, causing it to lose more and more blood.
"You like that? Huh?" He stabbed the wolf again. "Okay, why aren't you crying out in pain? This is creeping me out!"
Though the wolf wasn't howling in pain, it was still feeling it. Suddenly, it came to a halt, which made Jin fly off its back. But that wasn't enough to deter him.
"Whoa!" Jin slapped his hand to the dirt, launching himself into a flip. Mid-air, he fired a crossbow bolt from his wrist, sinking it into the wolf's eye. The bolt detonated the moment he landed.
"Cool guys don't look at explosions." After his cool moment wore off, Jin decided to do some investigating.
"Wolves usually travel in packs, but this guy was alone. There was no wolf pack either, so it could be a loner, or it could have been kicked out." But as he came to that conclusion, Jin noticed a trail of blood leading deeper into the forest.
"Or its pack could have been killed." He analyzed the blood, and it did belong to a wolf. "Angela also went this way. Hmmmm, should I follow? Nah."
BOOOOM
The part of the forest Jin was in rumbled from a loud explosion of impact of some kind, nearly shaking Jin off his feet. Birds flew away, trees swayed, and leaves fell to the ground.
"Dammit. That's in Angela's direction. Fuck it, let's see what's going on. I finished setting my traps anyway." Jin took off into the air to find his partner.
---
"Dammit! I should have brought Jin."
Two massive fists slammed down, narrowly missing Angela and turning the ground into dust. She avoided both, instantly freezing the creature's hands, then began sprinting up its arms.
She created an arrow made of Ice and chucked it toward the beast's eye, but the beast broke out of the icy restraints and blocked the arrow with its arm, causing Angela to fall off.
The air around her feet instantly froze, creating an icy trail that allowed her to slide and maneuver around the beast, searching for a weak point.
"I never expected to fight a Deviant here. Why is it in this part of the forest? Shouldn't it be somewhere else?"
The deviant Angela was fighting was a colossal ape that was large enough to climb buildings. Some sort of King of the Kongs...Apes, King of the Apes.
The ape broke the ice slide Angela was using with one hand, and with the other, it attempted to grab her and squash her to death.
"Oh no, you don't!" She extended both hands, blasting the ape's hand with enough ice to turn the skin purple. She shot at its face next, but the ape blocked with its arm and opened its mouth to fire a beam of energy.
"Shit!"
Jin pulled Angela out of the way before the Ape could blast her into the afterlife, and held her in his arms like a princess.
"Missed me?"
"Dearly. Have any ideas on how to take this deviant down? Also, let me go."
Jin dropped her, but she caught herself on a new slide of ice.
"How are you even having trouble beating this guy? This should be easy pickings for you."
Angela looked at the ape, then at Jin, and did not come to the same conclusion.
"How? Its skin is thick as hell. And the hand I nearly gave frostbite to just healed."
Jin didn't like the way Angela used her powers. With the ability to stop the movements of molecules or any subatomic particle, he expected her to do more than make ice.
"Angela? Are you stupid? Freeze its insides." He emphasized.
"But that....Is actually a good idea. Dammit! Why didn't I think of that?"
"Because you like brute forcing your way through things."
She didn't deny that.
"Might wanna move out of the way, princess, this could get pretty messy."
Jin did as she said, flying to a safe distance so she could do her thing. Angela wasn't used to freezing the inside of a being, so she needed to drop the temperature of her surroundings to help her in that act.
A flash freeze instantly blanketed the area, freezing everything in its path and dropping the temperature far below zero. Angela's blonde hair turned white, her body became crystalline ice, and the Ape nearly died from the sudden cold.
She blew in the air, casing the insides of the ape to cool down rapidly until it was completely frozen internally.
"Phew, I did it."
"NOW BREAK THE ICE!" Jin shouted from afar.
"Yeah, yeah." A massive ice fist formed over her hands, and she punched the Ape into multiple pieces.
"I'm headed back! Not trying to catch a cold!" Jin flew away.
"See you there!" Angela waved.
