Jin landed in a tree, almost slipping off, but caught a branch and swung back onto it.
"Damn, they could have at least teleported us on the ground." He surveyed the area, seeing what was in his vicinity and if there were any monsters close by.
"First, I need to find shelter; everything else comes later." Jin tapped his ear, and only his helmet from his power kit activated.
"Scan the area for any caves."
[Scanning.....there is a cave 600 feet from your current location.]
"Sweet." Jin wasn't worried about any monster coming his way. He could easily handle them, even if he only used his power kit, so he prioritized finding the cave.
His mask marked a path for him to take, and Jin followed it, only encountering a few bunnies that attacked him on sight.
They were able to jump high and fast and had razor-sharp teeth. Jin handled them as if they were nothing, then collected their bodies for dinner. Along the way, he collected firewood, branches, leaves, vines, and rocks, bringing them all to the cave.
"Sweet, this is a nice cave." Jin placed everything down and started working when he heard something approach him.
He quickly turned around, equipping his power kit and holding out a blade in front of him.
"Who would have thought that you'd be here, princess?" Angela walked out of the darkness, a wide grin on your face as she approached Jin.
"Oh, it's just you, Angela. I thought you were a monster that dwelled in this cave. And what did I say about calling me princess? I hate that!"
"Sorry. You told me that I can call you that when I'm acting as if I hate you."
"I know, but we're alone, so don't call me that. What are you doing here anyway?"
Angela approached Jin, forcing his back against the cave wall. She stood over him, and she placed her hand on the wall right over his head.
"I missed you. Do you know how long it's been since I've felt your touch?"
"Six months," Jin replied.
"Six months too long." She captured Jin's lips with her own, kissing him with a hunger she needed to quell.
"Mmm~Chwp~I love your kisses so much~Chwp~Mmm~" She cuffed his face, planting her tongue into his mouth as they made out like beasts.
"Angela, relax, I'm not going anywhere."
"I know, but I just love your kisses. You taste so good. Mmmm~"
Their hands started moving all over each other's bodies instinctively, wanting to progress further, but the sound of leaves rustling out of the cave jolted them back to reality, and Angela blasted whatever was there with her powers.
"Oh, it was just a rabbit." Angela's hand defrosted.
Jin went back to his things. "I'll get everything set up. We'll be staying here for the next few days."
"I'll hunt, you cook."
Jin shrugged. "Okay. But I'm still coming with you when you head out."
"Fine by me. If we encounter anyone, I'll just say that I forced you to work for me."
"Sounds good."
The relationship between Jin and Angela started in middle school. Prior to middle school, she would always tease and bully him every chance she got. But after she had awakened her ice abilities, everything changed.
Jin had never been bothered by her bullying, even before his memories returned, so when they did, he noticed that her powers weren't the ability to use ice, but to cause molecules to come to a complete stop.
He taught her how to properly control and harness her powers since he thought it was cool, and ever since then, they had been secret friends. During their junior year of high school, they started a physical relationship that has been kept up even to this day.
The reason they kept their relationship secret is that Angela is from a wealthy family, and her Mother doesn't want her associating with anyone who isn't on the same level as them.
Around an hour later, Jin had finished working. He made a curtain out of vines and leaves to obscure the entrance, and he also used rocks to make the opening look smaller than it did.
He created a fire and shaped the remaining rocks he had into bowls.
"Can you freeze these rabbits?" He asked
"Why? Can you do that yourself?" Angela also knew about Jin's abilities, catching him using them in high school. She found it to be really cool and promised to keep them to herself.
"Yeah, I cooled them down, but...fine."
"I'm kidding. Here." She blew on them, freezing all of the rabbits.
Jin frowned. "Now your frozen spit is on them."
"Hey, you were just enjoying this frozen spit a while ago."
"Fair point. Do you wanna go out and survey the area? It's best to look around to see if there could be any dangers lurking."
One thing that Angela loved about Jin was that he always took the initiative...when he felt like it.
"That's what I planned on doing. You know how to place traps, right? Place them around the area while I look around for monsters or other people who would want to steal our spot."
"Sounds good."
"See you later, princess." She winked at Jin and took off.
"I really hate her." Jin started gathering wood, using his knife from his power kit, to sharpen them for traps.
He planned on making traps for monsters and traps for people. The animal traps would be obvious to spot if you were a person. He didn't want them to fall into deadly traps and be blamed for some deaths.
As for the traps for humans, he would make them non-lethal but still enough to alert him that someone had encountered them.
'Although this would go by quicker if I used my magic, I like doing this without it. It makes me feel good. Well, even if I wanted to, there are cameras around the place.'
Just then, Jin heard rustling in the bushes. He took no chances and equipped his suit. He sensed that whatever was there wasn't Angela but a beast. Still, to play his part, he acted as if he didn't know.
"Angela? Is that you?"
No answer.
'Obviously it's not.'
Jin wasn't stupid enough to check out what was lurking in the bush, so he waited. Well, he already knew what it was thanks to his helmet and his own senses, but he still waited.
Finally, the creature lost its patience and lunged at Jin.
