Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 - A New Home

Prestell's rebuilding took a long time. Such conclusions include all five camps on the king. Emilia froze all the people Capella had turned into flies. When Mark watched, he blamed himself for the Archbishop leaving. If Capella's servants had been taken through the portal by Angstrom, then so had she. There was no such thing as Angstrom, but it didn't bode well.

With his trial set to be tainted in a month, Mark was currently loading his luggage along with Subaru into the dragon carriage.

"Subaru, do you know where my uniform is?" He asked the black-haired man as he packed the last suitcase.

"It's in one of the bags." He refused as he got on the cart and grabbed the reins. "I'll tell you, it's a good wreck."

"Ha, that's nothing new to me." Mark laughed, sitting down next to Subaru. "You have no idea how much a super hero needs to go to the tailor to get his suit fixed."

"You have a tailor?" Subaru was surprised.

"I'm not a genius and we can't sew that we are so responsible."

"From the presence of the world. Are you from the United States?"

"Yeah, and you're a typical liar? Because of the ten stupid side effects that you're not from here either."

"My tracksuit isn't stupid, asshole! It's part of my charm!... but damn. When did super heroes stop being just a myth back home?"

"What are you talking about? Super heroes have been around forever. Unless we're both not from the same reality. Don't you know you're coming from a function where the heroes are just made up."

"Oh man, but this is all complicated, it hurts my head!" Subaru said, clutching the sun. "So the multiverse exists MARVEL wasn't lying."

Mark didn't know what Subaru was saying, but if necessary, it didn't come to anything too important.

They were waiting for Emilie along with Beatrice, who was placed between them after their intervals. As for Otto, he wanted to stay with Garfiel, helping to rebuild the city, although they managed to start. It would be years before Prestella would be responsible like before an independent cult. A difficult matter to solve. Many people's homes died and in many of them after the recent events it would be difficult to solve the trauma.

"Natsuki, Mrs. Grayson." Anastasia suddenly approached them in the form of Liliana. "I just wanted to provide you with a safe path and... Give you a warning."

"A warning?" Mark and Subaru asked at the same time.

"Yes. If the council of elders is kind to you Mr. Grayson, if they accept you I would like to ask you and Emilia's camp for help."

"How would we help you?" Beatrice asked suspiciously.

Anastasia appeared sadly as she began to walk away, leaving them to use Liliana.

"See you in a month." She said goodbye and they lost sight of her.

"And what happened?" Subaru asked himself and exchanged confused glances with Mark.

After a moment their attention was caught by Liliana's enthusiastic voice.

"Good morning Sir Natsuki! Oh and good morning to you too Mr. Grayson? Do you remember me?!"

"Hello Liliana. Yes I remember you. You're the girl who was always hiding behind Priscilla's back." Mark scoffed and Subaru laughed.

"Please don't see me as a coward Mr. Grayson!" Liliana called out, taking her instrument off her back. "As a singer, I am the one who gives people relief and hope with my ballads. And Mr. Grayson, would you give me permission to tell the world how you single-handedly saved the Sword Saint from the squid's slippery tentacles?!"

"I have no problem with that."

"Oh, thank you very much. Good luck with your trial."

Emilia joined shortly after, and they headed to Roswaal's new estate.

...

After a few hours of driving, they arrived at Roswaal's new residence. Mark stuck his head out of the dragon carriage. He had never seen such a large house in his life. He didn't even want to think about how rich the owner of this place was to keep it clean.

"Looks pretty good, huh?" Subaru said, posing proudly as if he owned the place.

"This place is amazing! How many servants are there in this mansion?!" Mark asked excitedly as the dragon carriage began to park in front of the building.

"Hmmm, counting on the fact that Rem woke up, at the moment the estate is being taken care of by 4 maids" Emilia replied, amused by Marek's childish behavior.

While the playful atmosphere in the carriage was at its best, Subaru suddenly saw a maid with blue hair looking at him.

Subaru could barely hold back the tears. So much fighting, so much waiting, so much suffering, so much death. All to finally have a happy ending.

The black-haired man jumped out of the carriage as he stopped it. Everyone looked at him in surprise as Subaru began running towards Rem, calling her name.

If this were a fairy tale, as the sun sets, Subaru would hug Rem and the end credits would roll with mega-touching music.

But this wasn't a fairy tale of that type. Fate would bring Subaru to his knees more than once. When he was about to hug Rem, he was knocked to the ground with a strong blow to the jaw, which knocked three of his teeth out of his mouth.

Rem suddenly pinned him down with her body, making it impossible for him to defend herself. She began punching him in the face with such force that Subaru felt as if his head was about to separate from his body.

"Fuck! Rem it's me!" Subaru tried to talk some sense into the girl but she continued to hit him.

After a few more blows, Rem wanted to end the life of the man who smelled of evil with one of the strongest blows she could muster.

The fist began to fall on the black-haired man with great force. He had the impression that this would be the end of him, but...

"Okay, that's enough." Suddenly Mark appeared, catching Rem's fist in mid-air.

The maid looked at him with hostility and contempt. She pushed Mark with all her strength towards the mansion. Mark easily bounced off the building back towards Rem.

"I told you to stop!" Mark shouted, hitting her in the face, causing her to roll 10 meters away.

Mark looked with concern at Subaru, who had half his face swollen.

"Gosh man are you okay." He asked helping Subaru get up.

"Do I look like everything's fine?!" He asked, a little irritated, spitting blood from his mouth.

"Subaru!" Concerned Beatrice ran up to them and began healing her contractor with magic. When she finished she looked with hatred at Rem who was getting up from the ground. "ARE YOU CRAZY?! You could have killed Subaru Betty!"

Rem furiously wanted to attack Subaru again, but was stopped by a hand placed on her shoulder. When she turned around, she saw her sister Ram, who was looking at her with concern.

"Rem are you okay?! Show me!" Ram worriedly watched her sister's face as she was hit by Mark. "You disgusting piece of trash! How dare you hit my sister?!"

"She tried to kill Subaru! I had to do something!" Mark tried to defend himself against the accusing gaze of the pink-haired maid.

"Who cares about Barusu?! Compared to him, my sister is more important!"

Mark didn't answer. He felt no obligation to argue with the pink-haired maid, so he ignored her.

"Mrs. Emilia, who is that disgusting man who defiled my sister?" Ram asked, pointing at Mark.

"I'll explain later, all you need to know is that this boy saved our lives and has a very important trial to attend in the capital, so I've offered him a place to stay at the mansion. His name is Mark Grayson, and you, Ram, owe him the most."

"What?" Ram frowned in confusion.

"Ram." Subaru, who had already been healed, spoke up. "He killed the Archbishop of Gluttony."

There was silence. Ram blinked a few times, looking at Mark. She had regained her memories and her sister had woken up thanks to the unimpressive man in front of her. Although she wished Rem had regained her memories, she couldn't complain.

"I understand." Ram calmed down and bowed low. "On behalf of me and my sister, I thank you with all my heart, Mr. Grayson, for bringing her back to me. Lord Roswaal will welcome you into his home. You are welcome."

...

"Welcome to the estate of Maggrawi Roswaal L. Mathers, dear guest. My name is Frederica Baumann and I've come to see if you need anything."

In the large guest room, Mark was greeted on the couch by a tall, blonde maid with sharp fangs. He found himself alone with her, as Subaru and the others had ordered him to wait here to talk to Roswaal first.

"Thank you, but I don't need anything." Mark replied, adopting a friendly and trustworthy smile.

The maid only nodded and a quiet atmosphere reigned in the room for a long time until a little maid girl with orange hair entered the room carrying a tray of tea.

"Sorry Mr. Grayson, I didn't know what kind of tea you liked so I brought mint."

"No need to apologize. Thank you." Mark gratefully took the tea and began to drink it. "By the way, do you know when I can come into the office to talk to everyone?"

"Lord Roswaal is currently discussing your situation with Lord Natsuki and the others. They'll probably call you any minute now." Frederica explained calmly.

"Okay. In the meantime, could you explain to me who Roswaal is that he has such wealth. I know little about the world, so I would be grateful if you could explain it to me, Frederica."

"Of course, Mr. Grayson. Lord Roswaal is the most powerful mage in the kingdom of Lagunica. And he is currently sponsoring Lady Emilia in the royal elections."

"I see." Mark nodded, understanding the situation.

In the last few days of the trip, Mark had managed to learn the most important things in this election. He had learned who each candidate was, what their position was, and what their character was. Each candidate was unique in her own way, in a negative sense of the word.

Felt was a thief from the slums with no experience leading anyone.

Anastasia Hoshin had the means to change the kingdom for the better, but due to her reputation as a greedy girl, she was ill-suited to take care of ordinary people who had nothing in common with her.

Crusch Karsten was the most suitable for the throne from the stories he had heard. She had the charisma of a leader and loyal vassals and was the fiancée of a prince of the previous royal family, but due to the fact that she had lost her memory and was currently poisoned by Capella's dragon blood, after some thought she was also not the right person.

Priscilla was a self-important bitch who had no idea how to keep the kingdom together. If she had won the election, Mark would have given his hand, knowing there would have been an assassination attempt.

...As for Emilie, she was probably the one he was most disappointed in.

"Is something wrong Mr. Grayson?" Frederica asked with concern, seeing Mark have a worried look on his face as he was lost in thought.

"No, no. I'm fine, Frederica. Thank you for your concern. I was just thinking a little."

"Can I ask what?"

"Isn't it obvious...?" Mark looked at the ceiling with an unreadable expression on his face. "The future, the present, and most importantly, the future."

At that moment, his thoughts returned to the conversation with Subaru that had taken place a few days ago.
