Her temper was nothing like before.
Rhett knew it well but that didn't mean he'd let her get away with it.
He'd always been the one others obeyed, and though he'd grown used to that, there was a time when he actually enjoyed the way she used to yield to him.
"I'll say it again," his voice was low, sharp. "Get in the car."
The silver-black luxury car trailed behind the slender figure walking ahead.
Rhett kept his eyes forward, his tone calm but cold. "Kelsey, don't be stupid."
His words were a warning, his final one. "You can't get a taxi here. Are you planning to walk all the way back?"
Kelsey slowed her steps, her voice icy. "So what? What does that have to do with you?"
Before she could finish, the roar of an engine pierced through the air.
Rhett pressed down on the accelerator and drove off, leaving nothing behind but a cloud of dust.
Kelsey stared at the car disappearing into the distance, momentarily stunned. Then, a bitter laugh escaped her lips.
